Abstract

The present invention patent relates to the application of electrostimulation in the field of phonoaudiology, with the aim of improving speech in patients. Electrostimulation is applied by means of a device called stimulation pen for phonoaudiology, which is equipped with silicone electrodes at the tip thereof, is connected to an electrostimulation apparatus and serves to allow the passage of electric stimuli to be applied to motor points of the muscles of the patient in order to promote muscle contraction, sensory stimulation or muscle relaxation.

Description

RELATÓRIO DESCRITIVO  DESCRIPTIVE REPORT
E LETROESTI M U LAÇÃO PARA FONOAUDIOLOGIA AND LETROESTI M U LATION FOR PHONOAUDIOLOGY
(01) The present invention relates to a method of applying electrostimulation in the field of speech therapy, the purpose of which is to improve patients' speech by using a device called a speech-language stimulator pen.
(02) Through a speech-language stimulator pen, which is connected to an electrostimulation device, its function is to allow the passage of the electrical stimulus that is applied to the motor points within the oral cavity of patients.
(03) The objective of transmitted electrostimulation is to produce muscle contraction, sensory stimulation and muscle relaxation, within the needs of each patient.
(04) At the tip of the pen, silicone electrodes should be coupled to stimulate the motor points of the face. Electrostimulation is performed directly on the motor point of the muscle to be stimulated, or on its acupuncture point.
(05) In the oral cavity it should be possible to perform electrostimulation on the following regions: the pillars of the fauces, cheeks, points of the fleece arches and the region of the uvula, base of the tongue and points of the tongue requiring stimulation.
(06) The improvement achieved by stimulation caused by this method, object of this patent, will enable increased vascularization, increased strength and speed of contraction and improved muscular tropism.
(07) The improvement in functional condition will be directly related to the exercise battery that each therapist can perform with his patient after electrostimulation.
(08) Some important procedures in the application of electrostimulation through the electrostimulatory pen: When stimulating the region of the fleece, contractions should be spaced to avoid possible vagal-vagal reflex, especially in children under three years of age who present impairments. neurological
(09) Do not use in patients using pacemakers. (10) Do not use in patients who have feverishness or lack of sensitivity or lowered or absent level of cognition.
(1 1) When applied to the face, the conductive gel should be used to increase the conduction of the stimulus, avoiding burns and discomfort.
(12) In xerostomic patients when stimulating the intraoral cavity, artificial saliva or water should be used to increase stimulus conduction.
(13) The technical sector for which this innovative procedure is intended is speech therapy, as it is the speech therapist's clinical routine to work on all areas related to oral, extra and intra oral motricity, and to enable the conditions of the stomatognathic system required. speech and swallowing.
