Definitions
- the present invention relates to zeolite, a method for producing the zeolite, a honeycomb catalyst using the zeolite, and an exhaust gas purification device.
- an SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system that uses ammonia to reduce NOx to nitrogen and water has been known as one of the systems for purifying exhaust gas from automobiles, and CHA (chabhasite carrying copper) is known.
- Structure zeolite has attracted attention as a zeolite having SCR catalytic action.
- a honeycomb unit having a large number of longitudinally extending through-holes through which exhaust gas passes is used as an SCR catalyst carrier.
- Patent Document 1 discloses that the honeycomb unit is used as an SCR catalyst carrier.
- a zeolite having a CHA structure having a composition ratio SiO 2 / Al 2 O 3 of less than 15 and an average particle diameter of 1.0 to 8.0 ⁇ m is disclosed. Yes.
- Patent Document 2 discloses a zeolite having a CHA structure having a composition ratio SiO 2 / Al 2 O 3 of less than 15 and an alkali content of less than 3% by mass.
- the surface of the honeycomb unit substrate made of the above material is coated with the above-described CHA-structured zeolite to obtain an effect as an SCR catalyst.
- Patent Document 3 discloses a technique in which zeolite is extruded into a honeycomb shape together with an inorganic binder or the like and used as an SCR catalyst when manufacturing the above-described honeycomb unit.
- Patent Document 4 includes a metal-containing chabazite having a crystal size greater than 0.5 microns and a silica to alumina ratio (SAR) greater than 15, wherein the metal-containing chabazite is present in the presence of 10% by volume or less of water vapor.
- a porous crystalline material is disclosed that retains at least 80% of its initial surface area and pore volume after exposure to temperatures below 900 ° C. for 1 hour or less.
- Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 2012-211066 Japanese National Table of Contents 2012-508096 Japanese Unexamined Patent Publication No. 2007-296521 Japanese National Table 2013-514257
- the above prior art has the following problems.
- the zeolite disclosed in the prior art is used as an SCR catalyst for purifying automobile exhaust gas, the catalyst may be exposed to a high temperature of about 900 ° C. depending on operating conditions. Zeolite loses its NOx purification rate when Al atoms are dropped from its crystal structure due to heat, causing the structure to collapse.
- the CHA-structured zeolite having an average particle size of 1.0 to 8.0 ⁇ m described in Patent Document 1 does not particularly improve heat resistance, Since the particle diameter is large, there is a problem that de-Al removal described later easily occurs from the inside of the particle, and the NOx purification rate after the heat load is applied becomes low.
- the zeolite described in Patent Document 2 exhibits the function as a catalyst by coating the surface of the honeycomb unit substrate, the zeolite density as the catalyst is low, and the NOx purification rate is low from the early stage of purification. There's a problem.
- the zeolite described in Patent Document 4 maintains the surface area and pore volume, that is, the shape of the particles, even when exposed to a high temperature of 900 ° C., thereby reducing the Al atoms that drop out, that is, reducing the amount of catalyst metal that can be supported.
- the NOx purification rate at the initial stage of purification is sacrificed, there is a problem that the NOx purification rate is low as a whole.
- the present invention has been made in order to solve the above problems, and has excellent NOx purification performance, in particular, NOx purification performance even after being subjected to a thermal load, a honeycomb catalyst and an exhaust gas purification apparatus using the zeolite
- the purpose is to provide.
- the zeolite of the present invention has the following characteristics (1) and (2) and is characterized by having a CHA structure.
- the 4-coordinate peak intensity of Al measured by the 27 Al-NMR method after a thermal endurance test at 900 ° C. for 5 hours in an air atmosphere is P 4
- the Al-coordinate 6-coordinate peak intensity is when the P 6, P 6 (P 6 / P 4) with respect to P 4 is 0.1 or less.
- the present inventors have investigated the correlation between the thermal durability of zeolite, the change in crystal structure, and the NOx purification performance.
- the thermal durability of zeolite In order to actually maintain the NOx purification performance high, even when the crystal structure of the zeolite collapses, It has been found that it is important that Al can be maintained in 4-coordinate and keep the catalytic metals (Cu, Fe, etc.). That is, it was found that Al needs to maintain a tetracoordinate structure as much as possible even when exposed to a high temperature that causes the crystal structure to collapse.
- Al atoms are removed from the skeleton of the zeolite and become six-coordinated (referred to as “de-Al”), so that a catalyst metal such as Cu cannot be retained. Therefore, when the crystal structure of the zeolite collapses, the Si—O bond can be easily broken, so that the Al—O bond can be maintained without being broken (the Al atom remains in the 4-coordinate).
- the X 1 for X 0 after thermal endurance test (X 1 / X 0) is 0.2 to 0.7, ie, as a crystal structure of the zeolite had collapsed to some extent, thermal endurance zeolite after the test because it has a characteristic that P 6 for P 4 (P 6 / P 4 ) is 0.1 or less, Al even after the heat endurance test is maintained as much as possible the structure of four-coordinate. Therefore, it is possible to provide a zeolite that is excellent in NOx purification performance, and particularly excellent in NOx purification performance even after a thermal load is applied.
- X 1 (X 1 / X 0 ) with respect to X 0 is preferably 0.2 to 0.4.
- Zeolite with X 1 / X 0 in the above range means that even when the crystal structure is further broken, it means that Al remains in 4-coordinate and is excellent in NOx purification performance after thermal endurance.
- P 6 (P 6 / P 4 ) with respect to P 4 is preferably 0.052 to 0.074. Since the four-coordinate structure of Al is maintained even after the thermal endurance test, it is possible to provide a zeolite excellent in NOx purification performance, and particularly excellent in NOx purification performance even after a thermal load is applied.
- the zeolite of the present invention preferably has an average particle size of 0.5 ⁇ m or less. On the other hand, when the average particle diameter exceeds 0.5 ⁇ m, the amount of water absorption displacement when the honeycomb catalyst is made increases, and cracks may occur in the honeycomb catalyst. Description
