Abstract
Un procedimiento para disponer relaves que elimina la construcción de botaderos de lastre y tranques de relaves y elimina el uso de suelo natural para acopio de residuos, optimiza el uso de agua fresca y elimina la generación de polvo por tronadura y tránsito de vehículos al aire libre que es utilizado en minas que migran de la explotación de rajo abierto a mina subterránea en que la pulpa obtenida del proceso de flotación del mineral de la mina subterránea es transportada hasta una planta de espesamiento a pasta en el borde del rajo o cráter y la pulpa espesada es depositada en el rajo o cráter de hundimiento de la explotación subterránea.

PROCESO MINERÍA INTEGRAL SIN RESIDUOS, MISR
CAMPO TECNICO
La presente invención se desarrolla en el campo de la minería. El proceso denominado Minería Integral Sin Residuos, MISR, consiste en modificar sustancialmente la forma de operar grandes minas, migrando de explotaciones a rajo abierto a Minería Subterránea a Gran Escala (MSGE) ubicada bajo la posición de un rajo previamente explotado, con el propósito de utilizar dicho espacio como depósito de relaves en pasta.
Consiste en un proceso de operación minera que considera migrar de una explotación a cielo abierto a una explotación subterránea, rellenando la cavidad dejada por la explotación con relaves en pasta.
DESCRIPCION DEL ARTE PREVIO
Históricamente el destino más frecuente de los relaves era su depósito en ríos, lagos y fondos oceánicos. Luego, se comenzó a imponer la práctica de confinarlos en depósitos de relaves donde deben ser contenidos y aislados para evitar el movimiento de sedimentos, corriendo también el riesgo de colapso o licuefacción especialmente en regiones sísmicas.
La mayoría de las publicaciones y artículos relacionados con la disposición final de relaves se refieren al depósito de relaves convencionales, espesados y en pasta en tranques, o a la disposición de relaves convencionales en rajos abandonados o a la depositación de relaves en el interior de minas subterráneas utilizándolo como relleno con el propósito de extraer las reservas remanentes en los pilares o para estabilizar el techo de la
mina. Esta práctica data de fines de los 1980's y se ha utilizado mayoritariamente en minas de oro, carbón y polimetálicas, en cuyo caso se usa: relaves en pasta, relaves cementados, o mezclas de relave con rocas y cemento "paste rock"
La cementación de los relaves evita la contaminación del agua subterránea, y otorga resistencia mecánica a la pasta. Los finos de la pasta (20 a 45um) deben corresponder a un mínimo de un 15% del peso de la pasta y la dosificación del agente aglutinante está entre un 2 y un 6% del peso de la mezcla.
Durante los últimos 20 años, las prácticas convencionales de manejo y disposición final de relaves han cambiado con el objeto de reducir la contaminación ambiental y recuperar el agua contenida de los relaves. Estos últimos conceptos hoy son relevantes debido a que las leyes son cada vez más rigurosas respecto a la generación de una minería más sustentable y al cierre de faenas mineras. Esta última pretende asegurar perpetuamente la estabilidad física y química de los tranques de relave.
Los factores que han incidido en estos cambios de criterios son:
• El uso responsable del agua mejorando las tecnologías de espesamiento de relaves para reducir el consumo de agua fresca; en zonas de escasez de abastecimiento de agua o de climas secos en el mundo;
• Mayor conciencia de gobiernos y sectores privados para cuidar las fuentes de abastecimiento de agua y evitar la polución ambiental.
Actualmente, la tendencia es reducir o eliminar los depósitos de relaves, disponiéndolos en las excavaciones mineras. ("Tailings and mine waste 10", 201 1 , Taylor & Francis Group, London ISBN 978-0-415-61455-9)
Por lo anteriormente mencionado se propone un nuevo proceso de Minería Integral sin Residuos (MISR). Este proceso es un quiebre tecnológico de alcance mundial, que combina desarrollos tecnológicos de punta alcanzados en los procesos de: minería subterránea, manejo y espesamiento de relaves y depositación de relaves en pasta.
El proceso MISR consiste en modificar sustancialmente la forma de operar grandes minas, migrando de explotaciones a rajo abierto a Minería Subterránea a Gran Escala (MSGE), con el propósito de utilizar el espacio creado por el rajo y el futuro cráter de hundimiento como depósito de relaves.
Las mejoras sustanciales que proporciona MISR al proceso de explotación de grandes yacimientos son:
• Eliminación del tranque de relave, por lo tanto se reduce la contaminación de los suelos. El impacto se concentra en el mismo lugar intervenido por el rajo.
· Disminución del riesgo de colapso del tranque, especialmente en zonas sísmicas,
• Cierre del Rajo con el uso de los relaves.
• Eliminación de la contaminación del aire por material particulado.
• Disminución del uso de agua fresca para el proceso industrial debido a la máxima recuperación y recirculación del agua de los relaves.
Aunque las tecnologías de explotación subterránea y disposición de relaves en pasta son conocidas, según nuestro conocimiento no existe en el mundo una operación integral que deposite los relaves en pasta en el rajo y en el cráter de una mina subterránea activa ubicada bajo un rajo.
En una búsqueda intensiva de patentes relacionadas al proceso propuesto no se encontró referencias directas a la utilización de relaves en pasta para el relleno de rajos ni para propósitos de sellado de las paredes de un rajo ni para relleno de cráteres resultantes de explotaciones por hundimiento. Básicamente las patentes se refieren al proceso mismo de obtención de la pasta, la aplicación de aditivos y mejora del equipamiento para el proceso de obtención y almacenamiento de la pasta.
A continuación se indican dos solicitudes de patente relacionadas con relaves en pasta obtenidas de http://worldwide.espacenet.com/:
· CN102247714 describe un mecanismo para producción y almacenamiento continuo de pasta de relaves para relleno de minas y procesamiento de relaves;
• CN 1202569 describe una tecnología de relleno de minas con pasta altamente concentrada y un equipo para fluidizar, sacar agua, agitar y transportar la pasta.
En las publicaciones de artículos científicos, seminarios y páginas comerciales en la web, se encontró principalmente información referida al uso de relaves en pasta mezclados con cemento para el relleno con fines de reforzamiento estructural en minas subterráneas.
Aunque las tecnologías de explotación subterránea y disposición de relaves en pasta son conocidas, no se encontró una operación integral que deposite relaves en pasta en el rajo superior del cráter en una mina subterránea activa.
RESUMEN DE LA INVENCION
La invención se refiere a un proceso minero que consiste en una explotación subterránea bajo un rajo, el que se usará para depositar los relaves generados en la planta de procesamiento de mineral. Los relaves serán espesados hasta lograr la consistencia de una pasta antes de ser depositados.
Este proceso elimina la necesidad de construir un tranque de relaves. Los relaves se depositan en el rajo y en el cráter de la mina subterránea. Y minimiza el uso de agua fresca para el proceso de extracción del mineral ya que se recupera agua de relaves y se recircula a la planta.
BREVE DESCRIPCION DE LAS FIGURAS
La Figura 1 muestra una vista en corte de un yacimiento minero que ha m ¡grado de explotación a rajo abierto a explotación subterránea y, un esquema de las diferentes etapas del proceso.
DESCRIPCION DETALLADA DE LA INVENCION
La invención es un proceso minero innovador que implica modificar la operación de grandes minas que migran de explotaciones a rajo abierto a Minería Subterránea a Gran Escala (MSGE) utilizando el espacio creado por el rajo y el futuro cráter de hundimiento como depósito de relaves en pasta.
En la Figura 1 se aprecia un corte de un yacimiento minero el que fue explotado por rajo abierto (1 ) y actualmente está siendo explotado mediante una mina subterránea (2). La cavidad dejada por la explotación del rajo aumenta durante la explotación subterránea por hundimiento debido a que esta
última forma un cráter en el fondo del rajo. El volumen vacío del rajo y cráter se rellena continuamente con el relave espesado que se produce como residuo en la planta de tratamiento de mineral
La explotación de la mina subterránea debe ser realizada por el sistema de explotación por hundimiento de bloques (block/panelcaving), generándose entonces un cráter en el fondo del rajo. Este cráter aumenta su volumen a medida que se realiza la extracción de mineral desde la mina subterránea. Esto implica un incremento en el tiempo de la capacidad para almacenar relaves. Un aspecto relevante de la invención es que el relleno con relaves en pasta se deposita en la cavidad del rajo y cráter, a medida que se lleva a cabo la explotación de la mina subterránea.
El procedimiento de la invención utiliza etapas ya conocidas en el estado del arte que se indican aquí con el ánimo de aclarar mejor la invención, en las cuales el mineral extraído de la mina subterránea (2), es transportado (3 y 4) a la etapa de chancado, molienda y flotación (5), donde se obtiene el concentrado (6) y el relave (7). Sin alterar la configuración de la planta concentradora, en vez de enviar el relave a un tranque, se bombea hasta el borde del rajo, donde mediante una segunda etapa de espesamiento de alta densidad (8) se le extrae agua (9) y se deposita como relave en pasta (10) en la cavidad dejada por la explotación minera (1 1 ).
La mejora sustancial que proporciona la invención propuesta al proceso de explotación de grandes yacimientos, es que elimina la necesidad de uso de suelo natural para acopio de residuos sólidos, tanto de las explotaciones a rajo abierto como de relaves de plantas concentradoras, vale decir se eliminan los botaderos de estéril y los tranques de relaves Además, maximiza la
recirculación de agua industrial y suprime la generación de polvo de tronadura y tránsito de vehículos al aire libre, aumentando la productividad y reduciendo el consumo de combustibles.

REIVINDICACIONES
Un procedimiento para disponer relaves que elimina la construcción de botaderos de lastre y tranques de relaves y elimina el uso de suelo natural para acopio de residuos, optimiza el uso de agua fresca y elimina la generación de polvo por tronadura y tránsito de vehículos al aire libre, CARACTERIZADO porque
es utilizado en minas que migran de la explotación de rajo abierto a mina subterránea;
la pulpa obtenida del proceso de flotación del mineral de la mina subterránea es transportada hasta una planta de espesamiento a pasta en el borde del rajo o cráter;
la pulpa espesada es depositada en el rajo o cráter de hundimiento de la explotación subterránea.
El procedimiento para almacenar relaves de la reivindicación 1 , CARACTERIZADO porque el aumento de volumen del rajo abierto producto del hundimiento del cráter es utilizado para aumentar la capacidad de almacenamiento de los relaves espesados.
El procedimiento para almacenar relaves de la reivindicación 1 , CARACTERIZADO porque también puede utilizarse en minas subterráneas de explotación por hundimiento de bloques (block caving), que no operen bajo un rajo, ocupando sólo el volumen generado por el cráter de hundimiento.
