Abstract

A sailing watercraft includes a hull (12), a mast extending from the hull, a starboard outrigger (14) extending from the hull, a port outrigger (16) extending from the hull, first (18) and second hull foils (20) extending from the hull and spaced from each other along the axis of the hull (12), an outrigger foil (22) extending from each of the starboard (14) and port outriggers (16), and means for varying the inclination or shape of each outrigger foil (22), in use, to vary the lift applied by the outrigger foils (22). In essence, the sailing trimaran (10) incules foils (22) on: (i) two outriggers (14, 16), (ii) the boat hull (12); and (iii) the boat stem.
