Definitions

  • Disposable sealed and pre-filled personal vaporizer cartridge with a built-in atomizer Disposable sealed and pre-filled personal vaporizer cartridge with a built-in atomizer
  • a personal vaporizer is a type of electronic cigarette, or e- cigarette, an electronic apparatus which simulates the sensation of smoking a traditional cigarette and provides an alternative to traditional tobacco products.
  • Some electronic cigarettes are of similar dimensions as traditional cigarettes, while others are slightly larger. All electronic cigarettes function in a similar manner.
  • the electronic cigarette is filled with a liquid solution known as e-liquid, which, when heated up, produces vapor resembling in appearance a tobacco's smoke.
  • the cartridge is made of one piece and comprising: an e-liquid reservoir, an atomization chamber, a coil of resistance wire, most commonly made of NiCr, a mouthpiece and a wick made of silica, organic cotton or ceramic.
  • the present invention relates to an electronic cigarette.
  • Electronic cigarettes are a rapidly expanding segment which is replacing traditional cigarettes.
  • e-cigarettes Two types of e-cigarettes are known, namely basic electronic cigarettes, which most commonly resemble traditional cigarettes in both size and appearance, and advanced electronic cigarettes, also known as personal vaporizers.
  • the difference between them is that personal vaporizers are slightly larger and provide a better user experience.
  • the present invention relates to an advanced electronic cigarette, or personal vaporizer.
  • Electronic cigarettes are categorized according to their mode of operation as either automatic or semi-automatic e-cigarettes.
  • automatic e-cigarettes the atomizer activates automatically when the user inhales on the electronic cigarette.
  • semi-automatic cigarettes the user activates the atomizer by pushing and holding down a button which is normally located on the battery or its housing.
  • Electronic cigarettes are also categorized according to the manner in which they are used as either basic (first-generation) e-cigarettes or advanced e-cigarettes, also known as personal vaporizers, to which the present invention relates.
  • a personal vaporizer provides a better experience than a basic e-cigarette, as it has a longer battery life and better airflow and offers a wider selection of flavors.
  • An essential component of any electronic cigarette is the battery, which is most often rechargeable.
  • the life of the battery depends on its capacity. The larger the capacity of the battery, the longer the electronic cigarette can be used.
  • Nearly every personal vaporizer battery has a standard 510 or eGo thread, or a combination of both types of thread, onto which the atomizer is attachable.
  • Atomizers come in a number of different types, such as atomizers, clearomizers and cartomizers.
  • a common feature of all atomizers is that they turn e-liquid into vapor which resembles smoke in appearance.
  • Some electronic cigarettes also require a mouthpiece or cartridge which contains the e-liquid to operate.
  • An electronic cigarette requires e-liquid to operate.
  • e-liquid In contrast to tobacco, e-liquid is normally only composed of 3 to 4 ingredients: propylene glycol, vegetable glycerin, flavoring and, optionally, nicotine. All e-liquids are available with or without nicotine. All e-liquid ingredients apart from nicotine have been used for a long time in the food industry and are introduced into our bodies on a daily basis via food intake.
  • E-liquids are available in different nicotine strengths and are packaged in 10-ml bottles with a safety cap. Each bottle shows the date of manufacture, the logo of the manufacturer, the name of the flavor and the nicotine content in mg/ml. Due to the high nicotine content, e-liquid bottles are also labelled with the toxic and the dangerous for the environment symbol. Nicotine is anoxic substance which causes addiction and can be fatal in large doses. Nicotine is one of the main ingredients of traditional cigarettes and is also readily absorbed into the body through the skin.
  • the average e-cigarette user consumes 3 to 6 ml of e-liquid per day.
  • One 10-ml bottle therefore lasts for 2 to 4 days.
  • the user needs to carry the bottle with them to refill the atomizer, which is normally equipped with a reservoir with a capacity of 1.50 to 5 ml.
  • the average user uses a vaporizer with a volume of 1.5 to 2.5 ml.
  • the heating coil also needs to be replaced after being used for approximately 20 to 30 ml of e-liquid - or even only 10 ml with complex, premium e- liquids - which results in additional costs for the user.
  • the average user faces several risks when using e-liquids. Firstly, there is a risk of nicotine poisoning when pouring e-liquid into the atomizer. Secondly, there is also a risk of poisoning through ingestion, particularly for children, as e-liquids have a pleasant smell and flavor. Since they are purchased separately, they are also often stored in inappropriate and unsupervised places. Although the packaging presently, used for e-liquids, which most commonly takes the form of a 10-ml bottle, is child-resistant, this does not provide adequate protection.
  • E-liquid is also frequently filled into the atomizer incorrectly, as the filling opening is usually very narrow and the e-liquid is often poured into the mouthpiece by mistake. If that happens, there is a high likelihood of the e-liquid being directly ingested. Even when e-cigarettes are used correctly, e-liquid can escape through improperly sealed joints or leaking seals.
  • Heating coils differ in resistance, and users select them according to the desired vapor density, which complicates sales, as sellers have to offer a wide variety of products.
  • E-liquids are available in various flavors, and every flavor of every e-liquid is available in different nicotine strengths. Sellers thus have to keep a large number of different e-liquids in stock at all times. As a result, a majority of sales are currently made through specialized shops, so-called vape shops, and online. Other channels do not offer this type of equipment or only offer a very limited selection.
  • premium e-liquids are predominantly geared towards advanced vaping equipment and are only produced by a small number of small-scale manufacturers who can presently only sell their e-liquids in bottles. Users of basic electronic cigarettes cannot use this type of e-liquid, as manufacturers of premium e-liquids have not yet begun to collaborate with manufacturers of basic electronic cigarettes.
  • the present invention thus solves several problems. It makes personal vaporizers easier and safer to use.
  • the e-liquid is sealed inside a closed system, i.e. the atomizer, and no longer needs to be poured from an open packaging such as that in which it is presently sold and used for refilling existing atomizers.
  • the delicate and time-consuming task of refilling e-liquid is replaced by a pre-filled cartridge which is simply screwed onto the battery and is then ready to be used. After multiple uses, when it is empty, the cartridge is discarded. The user is thus not exposed to the risk of nicotine poisoning.
  • the present invention solves the above technical problems by providing a sealed vaporizer cartridge pre-filled with e-liquid.
  • the advantage of the vaporizer cartridge according to this invention is that it is an all-in-one product, as the sealed vaporizer cartridge combines all the required elements which currently have to be purchased separately, i.e. an atomizer with a built-in reservoir, a heating head, a battery connector, a mouthpiece and an e-liquid.
  • the present invention introduces a sealed e-liquid cartridge with a built-in atomizer, which is much simpler and thus less expensive to manufacture than the existing products.
