Abstract

The invention relates to a variable-reluctance electric machine that can be used as a vehicle supercharger. The electric machine comprises a stator (102) comprising pairs of stator teeth (108) and a rotor (110) comprising a pair of rotor teeth (114) that can rotate about an axis of rotation (O). The rotor teeth (114) have a maximum distance or tooth height (hmax) and, between the teeth, a minimum distance or inter-tooth height (hmin) <= 65% of the tooth height (hmax). The shape of each front face (116) of the rotor teeth (114) has a profile extending along the rotor circle (C R) about the rotor centre (O R). Moreover, each front face (110) of the stator teeth (108) has a profile extending along the stator circle (C s) about the stator centre (Os). The rotor centre (C R) is offset from the stator centre (CS) by an offset (d).
