Description

A LAUNDRY DRYER
The present invention relates to a laundry dryer comprising a filter that prevents the particles such as fiber, lint and dust etc. from accumulating in the tank. While the laundry is being dried in the laundry dryer, particles such as fiber, lint, dust, etc. break off from the laundry particularly due to mechanical effects. In conventional laundry dryers, most of these particles are collected by means of one or more than one filter disposed on the dryer, thus preventing these particles from accumulating on the heat exchanger and other components. The water, that is evaporated from over the laundry and condensed in the heat exchanger during the drying cycle, is collected in a tank disposed on the dryer. In the state of the art, use of the water collected in the tank for the cleaning of components such as the filter, the heat exchanger, etc. is disclosed. In these embodiments, the water received from the tank removes undesired particles on the components being cleaned by it and continues its circulation. The water must be filtered again so that the pump used for the discharge of the water containing particles such as fiber, lint, dust, etc. is not clogged and that the water to be discharged by the pump does not cause the accumulation of particles inside the tank. In the state of the art European Patent Application No. EP2138627, a filter is disclosed, that is detachably mounted to the inlet of the tank wherein the condensed water is collected.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a laundry dryer comprising a filter that prevents the accumulation of particles inside the tank wherein the condensate water is collected.
The laundry dryer realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, enables the cleaning of the filter that is mounted to the port of the tank and that has a non-rigid structure by means of a pulling member mounted to the filter without completely leaving the tank, only by being passed through the port of the tank and being taken out of the tank at least partially. In this embodiment of the present invention, the pulling member is preferably mounted to the base of the additional filter.
Thus, when the additional filter is fixed onto the tank, the base and the surface, holding the particles, of the filter can be at least partially taken out of the tank by means of the pulling member and can be easily cleaned by the user and replaced into the tank.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the additional filter gains its non-rigid structure by being produced from a textile-based material. Being produced from a flexible, soft and bendable material, the additional filter can be easily pulled out of the tank by means of the pulling member and can be reinserted into the tank. That the additional filter is produced from a textile-based material enables the additional filter to move by stretching or bending and thus to be easily cleaned by the user. In an embodiment of the present invention, the pulling member is in form of a rod with one end fixed to the base and the other end extending towards the outside of the tank so as to enable the user to hold from outside the tank. Thus, the user is enabled to take out of the tank the base of the additional filter, hence the additional filter surface retaining the particles together with the base. In this embodiment of the present invention, a holding arm enabling the user to easily hold is provided at the end of the pulling member, extending towards the outside of the tank.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the pulling member is in form of a weight fixed to the base of the additional filter. By means of the said weight, the textile-based additional filter is enabled to be kept freely in the tank.
In both embodiments of the present invention, since the additional filter is located on the flow direction of the water inside the tank while the tank is being emptied, the particles accumulating on the part of the additional filter remaining outside the tank are directly removed from the additional filter by means of the water discharged from the tank and the additional filter is cleaned without being detached from the tank.
By means of the present invention, undesired particles such as fiber, lint and dust etc. are prevented from accumulating in the tank.
Also, by means of present invention, thanks to the emptying of the tank, the additional filter is enabled to be cleaned without any other effort.
A laundry dryer realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention is illustrated in the attached figures, where:
Figure 1 - is the schematic view of a laundry dryer.
Figure 2 - is the detailed view of the additional filter and the pulling member in an embodiment of the present invention.
Figure 3 - is the detailed view of the additional filter and the pulling member in an alternative embodiment of the present invention.
The elements illustrated in the figures are numbered as follows: 1. Laundry dryer

3. Drum
4. Heat exchanger
5. Air circulation duct 6. Main filter
7. Tank
8. Pump
9. Additional filter

The laundry dryer (1) comprises a body (2); a drum (3) wherein the laundry to be dried is placed; an air circulation duct (5) providing the delivery of the drying air onto the laundry in the drum (3); a heat exchanger (4) that is disposed on the air circulation duct (5) and that enables the temperature of the drying air to be changed; at least one additional filter (6) that retains particles such as fiber, lint, dust, etc. in the drying air and a tank (7) wherein the condensed water is stored, that has a port (12). The laundry dryer (1) of the present invention comprises
• a non-rigid additional filter (9) that is mounted to the port (12) of the tank (7) and that extends into the tank (7) and
• a pulling member (10) that is mounted to the additional filter (9) and that enables the additional filter (9) to be at least partially taken out of the tank (7) by passing through the port (12) without completely leaving the tank (7)
(Figure 1).
In the laundry dryer (1) of the present invention, the additional filter (9) cleaning process is performed as follows. The additional filter (9) is pulled towards the port (12) whereto the additional filter (9) is fixed by means of the pulling member (10). Since the additional filter (9) does not have a rigid structure, on the contrary since it can move by being produced from a flexible and bendable material, the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) that extends into the tank (7) and that retains particles such as fiber, lint, etc. entering the tank (7) together with water passes through the port (12) together with the base (14) and leave the tank (7) and can be cleaned by the user. In this case, the said surface (A), that is located at the entry of the water into the tank (7) - that forms the first surface that the water entering the tank (7) contacts - and that retains the particles, remains outside and the user can easily clean the particles retained on the additional filter. Moreover, since the additional filter (9) surface (A) is located on the flow direction of the water inside the tank (7) while the tank (7) is being emptied by the user, the particles accumulating on the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) remaining outside the tank (7) are directly removed from the additional filter (9) by means of the water discharged from the tank (7) and the additional filter (9) is cleaned. Thus, the part of the additional filter (9) that leaves the tank (7) with the emptying of the water inside the tank (7) and that forms the surface (A) thereof retaining the particles can be cleaned without any additional effort.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the pulling member (10) is mounted to the base (14) of the additional filter (9). The base (14) of the additional filter (9) is pulled towards the port (12) whereto the additional filter (9) is fixed by means of the pulling member (10). Since the additional filter (9) does not have a rigid structure, on the contrary since it can move by being produced from a flexible and bendable material, the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) that extends into the tank (7) and that retains particles such as fiber, lint, etch, entering the tank (7) together with water passes through the port (12) together with the base (14) and leaves the tank (7) and can be cleaned by the user.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) is produced from a textile-based non-rigid material. Thus the surface (A) produced from a flexible, soft and bendable material can be easily pulled out of the tank (7) by means of the pulling member (10) and can be reinserted into the tank (7) after being cleaned.
The additional filter (9), that is placed into the tank (7) and that has a textile-based surface (A), retains the particles inside the water directed into the tank (7) through the water conduit (11) by means of the pump (8) and particles are prevented from accumulating in the tank (7), especially on the base (14). That the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) is produced from a flexible, soft and bendable material enables the additional filter (9) to be cleaned without being completely taken out of the tank (7).
In an embodiment of the present invention, the pulling member (10) is in form of a rod with one end (B) fixed to the base (14) of the additional filter (9) and the other end (C) extending towards the outside of the tank (7). Thus, when the user desires to clean the additional filter (9), he/she holds the end (C) of the pulling member (10) protruding from the tank (7) and pulls it through the port (12) of the tank (7). In this case, the end (B) of the pulling member (10) that is fixed to the base (14) of the additional filter (9) and the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) pass through the port (12) to be taken out of the tank (7), making it possible to clean the particles accumulated on the surface (A). That the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) can be at least partially taken out of the tank (7) by being displaced by means of the pulling member (10) enables the additional filter (9) to be easily cleaned by the user. In this embodiment of the present invention, the distance between the two ends (B and C) of the pulling member (10) is at least equal to the depth of the additional filter (9).
Moreover, in this embodiment of the present invention, the laundry dryer (1) comprises a holding arm (13) provided at the end (C) of the pulling member (10), extending towards the outside of the tank (7).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the pulling member (10) is in form of a weight that is fixed to the base (14) of the additional filter (9) (Figure 3). In this embodiment, the pulling member (10) enables the surface (A) of the additional member (9) to extend more rigidly in the direction of the gravity while in the tank (7) and the water received into the tank (7) is enabled to encounter with the maximum surface area. When desired to be emptied, the tank (7) is turned upside down, the base (14) of the additional filter (9) passes through the port (12) by means of the pulling member (10), and thus the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) is at least partially taken out of the tank (7). In this embodiment, since the additional filter (9) surface (A) is located on the flow direction of the water inside the tank (7) while the tank (7) is being emptied by the user, the particles accumulating on the surface (A) of the additional filter (9) remaining outside the tank (7) are directly removed from the additional filter (9) by means of the water discharged from the tank (7) and the additional filter (9) is cleaned. Thus, the part of the additional filter (9) that leaves the tank (7) with the emptying of the water inside the tank (7) and that forms the surface (A) thereof retaining the particles can be cleaned without any additional effort.
By means of the present invention, water containing particles such as fiber, lint, dust, etc. is prevented from being sent onto the components of the laundry dryer (1) such as the heat exchanger (4), the main filter (6), etc. cleaned with the water received from the tank (7). Moreover, particles are prevented from accumulating in the tank (7). As the tank (7) is emptied by the user, the particles accumulated on the additional filter (9) mounted to the tank (7) are enabled to be cleaned with the water collected in the tank (7) without detaching the additional filter (9) from the tank (7). Moreover, the movable nature of the additional filter (9) enables the user to easily clean the additional filter (9).
