Description
OPEN SCREW ENDED BIOPSY APPARATUS
Technical Field
The invention is for medical use and is about a biopsy apparatus with a screw end used to conduct biopsy on various areas of the body endoscopically and open form.
State Of The Art
It is required to conduct biopsy on certain organs and tissues for diagnosis of many diseases today.
Therefore, there are numerous biopsy needles in the current technique. Biopsy needles, which are currently in use, basically take tissue samples by cutting and break off movements.
However, current biopsy needles have some disadvantages depending on the method of taking tissue samples.
With the needles that use cutting method, a well known biopsy method 'in the current technique, for taking samples, the cut tissue part can fall over the biopsy needle into the body cavity. In this case, the tissue part is lost and if the tissue has a tumor, it can cause spread of tumor to other parts of the patient during intervention.
With biopsies taken with the breaking off method, a well-known biopsy method in the current technique, the tissue part can fall off the biopsy needle and it can cause aforementioned problems.
Furthermore, with the breaking off method, which is a well-known biopsy method in the current technique, if there is a vein close to the tissue where biopsy is taken, vein
rupture may occur due to pulling movements while conducting biopsy. This can ultimately lead to fatal bleeding.
There are certain solution offers to the aforementioned problems in the current technique. However, these offers should also be easily applicable in addition to the solution they introduce.
One example to the solution offers for conducting a biopsy is the Chinese utility model application/certificate titled "BIOPSY NEEDLE" registered to the name of "UNA ZHONG" numbered "CN200984195". It is clearly understood from this application/document that the aforementioned solutions were sought but they did not provide the advantages of the screw structure.
Another example for conducting a biopsy is the Chinese patent application/certificate titled "Disposable adjustable barb-shaped puncture biopsy needle" to the name of "SHUSHENG QIU" numbered "CN202505398". It is clearly understood from this application/document that the aforementioned solutions were sought but they did not provide the advantages of the screw structure.
Another example for conducting a biopsy is the document numbered US3628522 registered at the US Patent Office.
In conclusion, based on insufficiency of solutions offered in the aforementioned documents, there occurs the necessity for a biopsy needle with a screw end to take biopsy from various parts of the body endoscopically and in open form.

Detailed Description of the Invention
In this detailed description, the preferred embodiments of "Open screw ended biopsy apparatus" in the invention are only described for better understanding the invention without causing any limiting affect.
Furthermore, some components in the detailed description can be used in various forms for better understanding and content integrity in the sentence. Components in various statements represent the component with the same number.
The biopsy apparatus (1) in the invention is mainly comprised of two sections. These are screw section (2) and cutting guide (3).
The screw section (2) includes the screw needle (2.1) used to take biopsy from the tissue and the control handle (2.2) used to rotate and move the apparatus. The concerned screw needle (2.1) encircles the needle helically.
The Cutting Guide (3) is used to incise the skin and the bone to reach the tissue where biopsy is to be conducted. There is the pushing handle (3.1) to move the cutting guide (3) in the tissue and the cutting end (3.2) to allow this cutting guide (3) to cut the tissue. The cutting guide (3) is in the shape of a pipe.
The biopsy apparatus (1) in the invention has been developed to take biopsy from mediastinal masses and all kinds of palpable body mass except for the skin, subcutaneous masses like lipoma, muscles, bones and vascular structures like hemangioma. However, the proper size should be selected for the biopsy apparatus (1 ) in the invention depending on the size of the mass.
To prevent bleeding after biopsy, the tissue can be cauterized by contacting the cutting guide (3) to the tissue where biopsy is conducted.
Usage of the biopsy apparatus (1) in the invention:
While conducting biopsy with the biopsy apparatus (1) of the present invention, disinfection and anesthesia are applied first on the tissue. Then, necessary tissue depth for biopsy is reached with the help of the cutting guide (3).
The tissue where biopsy is to be conducted is entered by moving the screw section (2) in the cutting guide (3). Then, sample is taken from the tissue by passing through the tissues where biopsy is to be conducted with the help of the control handle (2.2), reaching the desired depth in the tissue with rotary movement and pulling the tissue with the screw needle (2.1).
When sufficient biopsy tissue is taken, the screw section (2) is held still at the current depth, the cutting guide (5) is moved over the screw section (2) to the depth of biopsy. Then, the screw section (2) is pulled off.
In case of risk of bleeding, before pulling off the cutting guide (3) from the tissue, it is cauterized to stop bleeding. If there is no bleeding or it is decided that bleeding has stopped, the cutting guide (3) is also pulled off from the tissue.
Finally, biopsy materials in the screw needle (2.1) of the screw section (2) are removed and biopsy is completed.
Based on this main concept, it is possible to develop various applications for the biopsy apparatus (1) in this invention, the invention cannot be limited with examples herein and it is mainly as described in the claims section.
