Definitions
- the present disclosure relates to a control system, an information processing apparatus, a control method, and a program.
- Patent Document 2 listed below discloses an iris code generation method for such an iris feature analysis method. Specifically, the iris existing in the captured image is recognized, the inner boundary of the iris (circular boundary with the pupil) and the outer boundary of the iris are determined, and the circular iris is separated. Next, a polar coordinate system is set on the separated iris image.
- the origin of the coordinate system is placed at the center of the circular boundary with the pupil. Thereafter, the feature value of the iris image that has been subjected to polar coordinate conversion is extracted, and an iris code having a fixed length having a universal format is generated for all irises.
- the iris code generated in this way is stored as a reference code, and at the time of authentication, it is determined whether or not they are the same individual by comparing the similarly encoded iris code with a previously stored reference code.
- Patent Document 3 There has been proposed a system for continuously taking images of a plurality of eyes having different pupil sizes by changing the size of the pupil of the eye.
- Patent Document 4 has a problem that the field of view is obstructed because the camera must be arranged in front of the line of sight.
- the present disclosure proposes a control system, an information processing apparatus, a control method, and a program capable of capturing a clear iris image in which reflected light from illumination is not reflected without disturbing the user's view.
- an illumination unit that emits light toward one of the left and right eyes, an imaging unit that images the other eye different from the one, and the illumination unit that directs light toward the one eye
- a control system includes a control unit that controls the other eye to be imaged by the imaging unit during irradiation.
- an imaging unit that images one of the left and right eyes, an illumination unit that irradiates light toward the other eye different from the one, and the illumination unit that emits light toward the other eye
- An information processing apparatus includes a control unit that controls the one eye to be imaged by the imaging unit during irradiation.
- control method including controlling the other eye different from the one to be imaged by the imaging unit when the illumination unit irradiates light toward the left or right eye. suggest.
- the computer functions as a control unit that controls the imaging unit to image the other eye different from the one when the illumination unit irradiates light toward the left or right eye.
- the information processing system according to the present embodiment may be an information processing apparatus 1 realized by, for example, a glasses-type wearable device (smart eyeglass).
- the information processing apparatus 1 includes a right-eye lens unit 2 ⁇ / b> R that is positioned in front of the user's right eye when worn by the user, and a left-eye lens that is positioned in front of the user's left eye. Part 2L.
- An illumination unit 16 that irradiates light toward the right eye is provided at the edge of the right-eye lens unit 2R, and the imaging unit 10 that captures the left eye is disposed at the edge of the left-eye lens unit 2L. Is provided.
- the installation positions of the illumination unit 16 and the imaging unit 10 are not limited to the example illustrated in FIG. 1, and the illumination unit 16 may be provided so as to irradiate light toward one of the left and right eyes. 10 should just be provided so that the other eye different from the one eye which the illumination part 16 illuminates may be imaged.
- the pupil size is adjusted by illuminating the eye as a general method. This is because the pupil shrinks when the illumination is strengthened due to biological reflection and expands when the illumination is weakened.
- FIG. 2 is a diagram for explaining a captured image of an iris imaged by a conventional method.
- the eye 3 is illuminated by the illumination unit 160 to adjust the size of the pupil 31, and the eye 3 is imaged by the imaging unit 100.
- the captured image 40 there is a problem that light from illumination is reflected by the cornea in front of the iris 30 and reflected as a bright spot 33. If the bright spot 33 overlaps with the iris 30, a part of the feature information of the iris 30 is lost, and the recognition rate of the iris authentication is significantly adversely affected.
- the reflection of illumination is performed by imaging the eye that is not illuminated while adjusting the size of the pupil by applying illumination to one eye and using sympathetic light reflection.
- EW Edinger Westphal
- the left and right anterior optic nucleus are connected via posterior commissure, the signal from one optic nerve is transmitted to the anterior optic nucleus on both sides, and even when only one eye is illuminated, the pupils of both eyes Contracts. Such reduction of the pupil on the side not exposed to light is generally referred to as sympathetic light reflection.
- FIG. 3 is a diagram for explaining a captured image of the iris imaged by the method of the present embodiment.
- the pupil of the right eye 3R on the opposite side is also similarly affected by the sympathetic light reflection. Since the size changes, the right eye 3R is imaged by the imaging unit 100.
- FIG. 1 shows the case where the information processing apparatus 1 is realized by a glasses-type wearable device (smart eyeglass), the present disclosure is not limited to this, and the information processing apparatus 1 includes goggles, binoculars, full It may be realized by a face helmet, a hat with a brim, or a sun visor. For example, when realized by binoculars, various settings of binoculars can be customized for the individual based on personal authentication by iris.
- the information processing apparatus 1 may be of a type installed and looked into like a binocular stereomicroscope, or of a fixed type such as being embedded in a wall or the like.
- FIG. 4 is a block diagram illustrating an example of the configuration of the information processing apparatus 1 according to the present embodiment.
- the information processing apparatus 1 includes an imaging unit 10, an image acquisition unit 11, a pupil size detection unit 12, a pupil size comparison unit 13, an iris code storage unit 14, an illumination control unit 15, an illumination unit 16, and imaging.
- a control unit 17, an iris recognition unit 18, and an iris authentication unit 19 are included.
- the imaging unit 10 is a device that images the user's eyes.
- the imaging unit 10 has an edge of the lens unit so as to capture one of the left and right eyes of the user when worn by the user. At the inside.
- the image acquisition unit 11 acquires an eye image captured by the imaging unit 10.
- the pupil size detection unit 12 detects the pupil size from the eye image acquired by the image acquisition unit 11. Specifically, for example, an eye image is analyzed to determine a pupil boundary, and its size (pupil diameter) is detected.
- the pupil size comparison unit 13 determines whether or not the pupil size detected by the pupil size detection unit 12 is the target pupil size.
- the target pupil size is a default pupil size for registration in the case of iris registration, and a registered pupil size in the case of iris authentication.
- the registered pupil size is acquired from the iris code storage unit 14.
- the iris code storage unit 14 stores a registered iris code, a pupil size when the iris code is acquired, and a user ID in association with each other.
- the illumination control unit 15 controls the illumination unit 16 that irradiates the user's eyes with light in order to adjust the size of the pupil based on the comparison result of the pupil size comparison unit 13. For example, the illumination control unit 15 performs ON / OFF of the illumination unit 16 and adjustment of illuminance (illuminance UP / DOWN). As described above, when the illumination is strengthened by biological reflection, the pupil is reduced, and when the illumination is weakened, the pupil is enlarged. Therefore, the illumination control unit 15 controls to increase the illuminance when the detected pupil size is larger than the target pupil size. - the imaging control unit 17 controls imaging by the imaging unit 10. For example, the imaging control unit 17 controls the pupil size comparison unit 13 to perform imaging again when the detected pupil size does not match the target pupil size. In addition, the imaging control unit 17 performs control so that imaging is performed when light is emitted to the eye by the illumination control unit 15.
- the iris recognition unit 18 recognizes the iris from the eye image acquired by the image acquisition unit 11. Specifically, the iris recognition unit 18 determines the inner boundary of the iris (circular boundary with the pupil) and the outer boundary of the iris from the eye image, separates the circular iris, and performs a polar coordinate conversion on the separated iris image. Thus, it is possible to extract the feature amount and generate an iris code by a predetermined encoding process.
- the iris recognition unit 18 outputs the iris code generated from the iris image at that time to the iris code storage unit 14 when the pupil size comparison unit 13 determines that the target pupil size is at the time of iris registration. At the time of iris authentication, if the pupil size comparison unit 13 determines that the target pupil size is the target, the iris code generated from the iris image at that time is output to the iris authentication unit 19.
- the iris authentication unit 19 compares the iris code output from the iris recognition unit 18 with the iris code registered in advance in the iris code storage unit 14 to authenticate whether or not they are the same individual.

- step S109 the pupil size detection unit 12 detects the pupil size based on the captured image of the iris imaged by the imaging unit 10 and acquired by the image acquisition unit 11.
- the pupil size comparison unit 13 confirms whether or not the pupil size detected by the pupil size detection unit 12 is the target pupil size.
- the pupil size is suitable for iris authentication.
- step S115 the illumination control unit 15 determines whether or not the current illuminance is the maximum illuminance.
- the illumination control unit 15 performs illumination ON or illuminance UP (increasing illumination intensity) control in step S118.
- the maximum illuminance is a limit illuminance of the illumination unit 16 set in advance.
- the limit illuminance of the illuminating unit 16 is set in consideration of a predetermined standard (a value that does not harm the human body) relating to the intensity of light applied to the human eye.
- the above-described S103 to S118 can be repeated to adjust the target pupil size.
- the pupil is reduced when the illumination is strengthened by biological reflection, and is enlarged when the illumination is weakened. Therefore, the pupil size can be adjusted to the target pupil size by gradually increasing the illuminance from the illumination OFF state.
- step S121 when the target pupil size can be adjusted (“Yes” in S112), in step S121, the pupil size detected by the pupil size detection unit 12 and the iris code recognized and generated by the iris recognition unit 18 are generated. , Stored in the iris code storage unit 14. At this time, the user ID is also stored. In this way, the iris code is registered.
- step S124 it is determined whether or not the iris code has been stored (obtained) for the desired number of times. This is because storing iris codes based on a plurality of different pupil sizes makes it possible to improve the accuracy of iris authentication.
- the illumination control unit 15 determines whether or not the maximum illuminance is reached (S115), and if not the maximum illuminance, the illuminance of the illumination unit 16 is increased (S118). ) The iris code is acquired again (S106 to S121).
- the iris code registration process according to this embodiment has been specifically described above. Next, the iris authentication process according to the present embodiment will be described with reference to FIG.
- FIG. 6 is a flowchart showing iris authentication processing according to the present embodiment. As shown in FIG. 6, first, in step S ⁇ b> 203, the illumination control unit 15 controls to turn off the illumination of the illumination unit 16.
- step S206 the imaging control unit 17 controls the imaging unit 10 to perform imaging of the iris.
- the pupil size detection unit 12 detects the pupil size based on the captured image of the iris imaged by the imaging unit 10 and acquired by the image acquisition unit 11.
- step S212 the pupil size comparison unit 13 compares the pupil size detected by the pupil size detection unit 12 with the recorded pupil size, and sets the pupil size suitable for authentication as the target pupil size. .
- step S218 the illumination control unit 15 performs illumination ON or illuminance control (illuminance UP / DOWN) control. That is, the illumination control unit 15 adjusts the intensity of illumination so that the pupil size approaches the target pupil size.
- the iris authentication unit 19 performs iris authentication. That is, the iris authenticating unit 19 generates an iris code generated by the iris recognizing unit 18 based on an iris image with a matching pupil size, and an iris code stored in the iris code storage unit 14 and having a certain pupil size. In comparison, authentication as to whether they are the same individual is performed.
- the iris authentication processing has been specifically described above.
- the iris authentication unit 19 sets the iris code for each one or a plurality of pupil sizes. Authentication may be performed.
- the illumination control unit 15 can adjust the overall illuminance depending on the number of illumination units 16 to be lit and the intensity of each illumination.
- the imaging control unit 17 may perform control so as to perform imaging in conjunction with the illumination control unit 15. For example, when the illumination unit 16 performs illumination, the imaging control unit 17 performs imaging after a predetermined time from the start of illumination. When human eyes are irradiated with light, it takes a certain amount of time until light reflection and sympathetic light reflection that change the pupil of the eye (the pupil that is not irradiated with light also changes similarly). is there.
- the illumination unit 16 and the imaging unit 10 are arranged so as to irradiate one of the left and right eyes and image the opposite eye. Is not limited to this.

Abstract
