Abstract

The invention relates to a sensor device for detecting parameters of an occupant of a motor vehicle, in particular parameters relevant to the behavior of the driver and vital parameters of the driver, wherein the sensor device detects the action of an external pressure. According to the invention, the determination of the exerted pressure is based on the deformation of a NiTi element, the NiTi element comprising a NiTi alloy having a superelastic effect. The invention also describes the use of such sensors in a steering wheel and in a seat of a motor vehicle.
