  • the typical tear band closure is provided with atleast one locking structure and a tear line which allows a portion of the outside peripheral skirt of the closure to be manually torn away fully or partially remove or disable the locking structure.
  • the removal of the tear band provides a visual evidence that the closure has been manipulated for removal purposes.
  • the closure may be completely detached from the container and either discarded or reused.
  • Attachment of a closure to the open end of a molded plastic container often involves frictional or interference engagement or interaction between a rib, Up or groove molded in the open end of the container and a circumferential flange projection or groove in the closure.
  • the closure may include a radially, inwardly extending flange, rib or lip that is engaged with an outwardly extending rib on the outside wall of the container.
  • Hoop strength relates to the function or characteristic of the container to resist lateral deformation or change in the cross-sectional shape of the container when lateral forces act upon the sides of the container.
  • Stacking strength relates to the function or characteristic of the container to support vertical loads such as those which may occur when containers are stacked upon each other.
  • containers like other manufactured items

  • An inverted u-shaped slot in the snap rig fits to the top edge of the container r ⁇ transfer vertical stacking loads from the closure or ring to the container sidewall.
  • US6845877 discloses a plastic container with a snap closure and a snap element.
  • the invention fulfils the special demands imposed on lcak-proofncss, while simultaneously providing high load-bearing capacity.
  • US7740149 discloses apparatus and methods related to containers having a sidcwall portion with vertical corrugation therein.
  • the containers can be of a variety of shapes, sizes, cross- sections, and materials.
  • the corrugation improves the container sidcwall strength and resistance to buckling under compressive loads such as stacking of multiple containers.
  • L'S35670I6 discloses a new and improved sealed container assembly with sealing connection between the closure and the open end of the container.
  • the sealing consists of a multiple number of associated parts which reinforce each other and provide a high degree of stiffness at the open end of the container sufficient to withstand the usual rough handling to which shipping containers are subjected.
  • CA26764100 discloses container with axially extending, circumferentially distributed ribs stack inside of the container wail.
  • the stacking ribs serve to allow the stacking of several containers into each other.
  • Each upper container can be supported in the respective lower container, such that the two cone-shaped vessel walls do not get jammed together.
  • US8256640 discloses container including one or more sidewalls that surround an internal cavity and wherein one or more of the sidewalls include a reinforcing web of increased wall thickness for having improved strcngth-to-material and/or strcngtivto-wcight ratios.
  • Another object of the invention is to provide a closure with a tampcr-cvidenr feature and a tear band.
  • Still another object of the invention is to provide a closure with a special locking feature for a container, particularly a pail.
  • Yet another object of the invention is to provide a closure in combination with a container, which facilitates stacking of filled containers one above the other with minimum risk factor.
  • Still another object of the invention is to provide a closure, where after the removal of the tear band, a piece of the closure remains intact with the container indicating the tampering of the container.
  • Future object of the invention is tn provide n closure fitment !o the container, where the load on the closure would be transferred through the rim and onto the body of the container, thereby ensuring increased stacking load.
  • Yet another object of the invention is to provide a container with reinforcing ribs or web which improves the strength- to-material and/or strcngth-to- weight ratios and also enhances the polymer flow during moulding with lower energy.
  • the present invention is a closure having multi-functionality that comprises features which are highly desirable, in combination with a container comprising a tear band that further provides security from tampering and indicating when tampered.
  • a closure and container combination is particularly useful for the shipment, storage and marketing of products such as pet food, paints etc., which are not fully consumed in a single serving or distribution but may be dispensed over a period - days or weeks.
  • the container and closure combination of the present invention provides a closure which is readily manually altered by the removal of a tear band for opening but provides for easy and secure closing and reopening after removal of the tear band.
  • Further features include a structure which enhances the stackability by transferring the stacking loads through the closure structure to the sidewall of the container.
  • a further feature of the present invention is the production of a container with substantial hoop strength and structural stability rendered by the plurality of reinforcing side wall structures.
  • a further feature of the invention is the provision of a means to facilitate easy lifting and tipping of the container for the purpose of pouring contents therefrom during use.
  • the lugs penetrate into spring-back hinges of the pail, to get locked.
  • the said lugs once locked cannot be de-locked thereof.
  • the curved wavy profiles are precociously designed to minimise the warpuge.
