MOUNT
TECHNICAL FIELD
This disclosure relates to a mount for mounting a wirelessly connectable multimedia device to a medical device to allow both power and data from the medical device to be relayed to the multimedia device. The data obtained can then be both displayed on the multimedia device and transmitted wirelessly to a nominated LP. Address for remote monitoring. The disclosure also relates to an associated fault response method which provides the user an additional alert and instruction response and at the same time, also provides the remote monitoring site an alert to the fault in the medical device.
BACKGROUND
Medical devices are often used or serviced by people either untrained or unfamiliar in their correct use. When medical devices for non-urgent or remote applications are faulty the solution to rectify the fault can often be simple and done easily by the user on site. Normally arranging servicing and repair can be complicated or time-consuming.
Any references to the background art do not constitute an admission that the art forms part of the common general knowledge of a person of ordinary skill in the art. The above references are also not intended to limit the application of the mount as disclosed herein.
SUMMARY
Disclosed is a mount for mounting a wirelessly connectable multimedia device to a medical device in such a way as to provide a permanent tamper proof, shock proof and water proof display case for the multimedia device whilst also allowing full user interaction, the mount comprising a locator for receiving the multimedia device and connecting it with the medical device to allow data audio and power from the medical device to be relayed to the multimedia device to generate a response from the multimedia device in the form of an audio-visual output and wireless data uplink to a remote IP address.
Further, disclosed is a fault response system comprising a modular multimedia device connected with a medical device to receive fault codes or an audio alarm responsive to a medical device fault, the multimedia device connecting to a remote fault repository via a data
network, the multimedia device receiving multimedia content demonstrating a response to a medical device fault defined by a corresponding fault code or audio alarm.
Further, disclosed is a medical device comprising a modular multimedia device connected with a medical device to display via an overlying application, a series of interactive modules so as to allow the user to do the following:
i) Personalise the system to identify the patient, provide the location of the system and contact details for remote service backup. This information is then displayed on the home screen and also uploaded to a remote IP address.
ii) Allow the user to access setup, operation and fault finding guides in order to learn how to use the system correctly.
iii) Allow the user to actively leave voice messages for other users relating to patient care, iv) Allow access to a suite of tools directly relating to patient health assessment and product selection.
Attaching a multimedia device either externally or internally to the main medical device allows a real time on site method of educating and training the user in the setup and operation of the medical equipment. In addition, the wireless functionality of a multimedia device also allows a method of monitoring the functions of the medical device by a remote service centre.
There is benefit in a mount and a system and interface that can educate the user in basic fault diagnosis and allows for ease of repair without requiring the services of a technician.
Further disclosed is an interface application for a modular multimedia device connected with a medical device to receive medical device codes responsive to the condition of the medical device, the interface application allowing a user to connect to a remote repository via a data network, the multimedia device receiving multimedia content demonstrating a response to the medical device code.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
In the following detailed description, reference is made to accompanying drawings which form a part of the detailed description. The illustrative embodiments described in the detailed description, depicted in the drawings and defined in the claims, are not intended to be limiting.
Disclosed is a mount for mounting a wirelessly connectable multimedia device to a medical device, the mount comprising a locator for receiving the multimedia device and connecting it with the medical device to allow power and data from the medical device to be communicated to the multimedia device to generate a response from the multimedia device in the form of an audio-visual output whilst at the same time protecting the multimedia device from tampering, shock, moisture and bacteriological ingress.
In some forms the data from the medical device comprises data relating to a fault with the medical device.
In some forms the audio-visual output comprises information on how to respond to the fault with the medical device.
In some forms, the mount further comprises a control panel for the medical device.
In some forms, the multimedia device acts as a control panel for the medical device.
In some forms the mount further comprises a motherboard for the medical device and a means for connecting the multimedia device to the motherboard.
In some forms the means for connecting the multimedia device is a USB connection.
In some forms the mount further includes an internal speaker which can be connected with the multimedia device.
In some forms the multimedia device is secured to the mount.
In some forms the multimedia device is secured to the mount by including a locating platform adapted to securably retain the multimedia device with respect to the mount.
In some forms the mount comprises a waterproof body.
In some forms the multimedia device is secured to the mount by incorporating the multimedia device into the body.
In some forms the multimedia device comprises a smart device.

Further, disclosed is a fault response system comprising a modular multimedia device connected with a medical device to receive fault codes responsive to a medical device fault, the multimedia device connecting to a remote fault repository via a data network, the multimedia device receiving multimedia content demonstrating a response to a medical device fault defined by a corresponding fault code.
Further, disclosed is a medical device set up system comprising a modular multimedia device connected with a medical device to receive set up codes responsive to input from a user and from the medical device, the multimedia device connecting to a remote fault repository via a data network, the multimedia device receiving multimedia content demonstrating set up of the medical device, the content being defined by a corresponding set up code.
Further disclosed is an interface application for a modular multimedia device connected with a medical device to receive medical device codes responsive to the condition of the medical device, the interface application allowing a user to connect to a remote repository via a data network, the multimedia device receiving multimedia content demonstrating a response to the medical device code.
Referring now to Figures 1 and 2 disclosed is a mount 10 for mounting a wirelessly connectable multimedia device 11 to a medical device and specifically engaging the control panel 13 of the medical device.
The mount 10 comprises a body 14 acting as a case for holding the various aspects of the mount. The body 14 includes a locator 15 which is adapted for receiving the multimedia device 11 and retaining it with respect to the mount 10. The locator 15 includes connection means for connecting the multimedia device to wired connectors 17. The locator 15 also includes means for securely locating the multimedia device 11 with respect to the mount.
The mount also includes the medical device mother board which acts to control the medical device. The medical device mother board 20 is connected with the multimedia device 11 through wired connector 17a.
The mount further includes an internal speaker 18 which is adapted to be connected with the multimedia device 11 by means of wired connector 17b.
In the illustrated embodiment the mount is water proof and tamper proof and seals in the multimedia device along with the wired connectors 17a and 17b. The speaker 21 and the motherboard 20 along with the control panel for the medical device.
In the illustrated form the multimedia device can be removed only by opening the casing of the body 14.
In use the multimedia device is connected with an interface application which is designed to overlay the existing multimedia device's operating system and allow the user access to a limited number of actions and operations.
The multimedia device is connected with the medical device's motherboard to allow the medical device to provide information to the multimedia device about the operation of the medical device including, for example, faults in the medical device. In response to receiving information from the medical device about the operation of the medical device and/or any faults within the medical device, the multimedia device and the interface application of the multimedia device is designed allow access for fault repair. The interface application also provides information about set up of the medical device and user information regarding the medical device.
In some forms the information regarding the medical device is provided in the form of a video or multimedia graphics to allow for ease of use.
Referring now to Figures 3 through 8, disclosed is a further embodiment of the mount in which the mount comprises a body 14 and locator 15 for locating the multimedia device 11 with respect to the mount 10. As best illustrated in Fig. 4, the locator 15 includes means for connecting a wired connector 17 with the multimedia device 11 for allowing information from the medical device provided to the multimedia device 11. As shown in Fig. 6 the locator includes multiple cavities 25 to allow for wired connection from the multimedia device on the locator 15 to the motherboard of the medical system and to the internal speaker of the medical system. In the illustrated form the locator is shaped to include a raised connector section 26 and a locator base 27 however it will be clear that any shape of locator will fall within the scope of the disclosure.
Referring now to Figure 9 in some forms the mount 10 includes a locator 35 which is positioned such that upon location of the multimedia device 11 with respect to the mount 10 the multimedia device is positioned on top of the control panel of the medical device thereby
replacing the regular control panel. This enables the multimedia device 1 1 to be used as the control panel for the medical device. In this form the mount also includes a speaker 18, a motherboard 20 and wired connectors 17a and 17b to connect the multimedia device 11 to the speaker 18 and the motherboard 20. In order to secure the multimedia device to the mount, an internal mounting is utilised. In some forms this internal mounting is in the form of bolts or nuts and a case which secures the multimedia device to the mount and is accessible only from inside the body 14 of the mount to prevent unauthorised removal.
In Figure 10, disclosed is a mount which is configured to be attached to a piece of medical equipment and retrofitted thereto. The mount 10 includes a locator 35 which is adapted to fit over the control panel of the medical device and allow control of the medical device through the multimedia device 11. The mount 10 further includes an internal speaker 38 connected with the multimedia device 10 through wired connector 37. A battery pack 41 is also included in the mount 10. The mount 10 further includes an external connection, in the illustrated embodiment in the form of a USB connection, which allows recharge of the battery pack and data connection to the medical device with which the mount is to be attached.
The modular multimedia device is, in use, adapted to be overlaid by or connected with an interface application that functions to allow a user access to specific information and operations on the modular multimedia device. The interface application is specifically designed to allow for set-up and fault repair of the medical device to which the modular multimedia device is attached.
The interface application also includes education or assistance modules to provide information on the medical device along with enhancement of the medical device's ordinary functions such as improving or hard wiring the warning system or enhancing sound for an audio display.
In one form, the interface application overlays the ordinary operation of the modular multimedia device and provides access to a limited menu including set-up, fault repair, tools and education. Further provided is a method of fixing faults in a medical device utilising a modular multimedia device connected with the medical device to receive fault codes responsive to a
medical device fault, the multimedia device connecting to a remote fault repository via a data network, the multimedia device receiving multimedia content demonstrating a response to a medical device fault defined by a corresponding fault code.
Further provided is a method of setting up a medical device or providing user information to a medical device utilising a modular multimedia device connected with the medical device to receive codes responsive to the requirements of the medical device, the multimedia device connecting to a remote repository via a data network, the multimedia device receiving multimedia content demonstrating a response to the medical device requirements defined by a corresponding requirement code. The methods are, in some forms, utilised through an application or interface allowing a user to select a indicator or button to provide the code to the multimedia device to be forwarded to the repository.
In the claims which follow and in the preceding summary except where the context requires otherwise due to express language or necessary implication, the word "comprising" is used in the sense of "including", that is, the features as above may be associated with further features in various embodiments.
Variations and modifications may be made to the parts previously described without departing from the spirit or ambit of the disclosure.
