低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像が得られる、インクジェット記録用水系インクに用いられる着色微粒子分散体の製造方法、その着色微粒子分散体、及びその着色微粒子分散体を含有するインクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法を提供する。〔1〕顔料と、重合性モノマーと、重合性界面活性剤と、水とを含む分散体を乳化重合する製造方法であって、顔料と、重合性界面活性剤と、水と、有機溶媒とを含む混合液を分散して分散体1を得る工程1、分散体1から有機溶媒を除去して分散体2を得る工程2、分散体2と重合性モノマーを乳化重合し、着色微粒子分散体を得る工程3を有する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法、〔2〕得られた着色微粒子分散体と有機溶媒Bを混合する工程を有する、インクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法、及び〔3〕粒子の平均粒径が10nm以上300nm以下である着色微粒子分散体に関する。
Description
本発明は、着色微粒子分散体の製造方法、その着色微粒子分散体、及びその着色微粒子分散体を含有するインクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法に関する。
インクジェット記録方式は、非常に微細なノズルからインク液滴を記録媒体に直接吐出し、付着させて、文字や画像を得る記録方式である。この方式は、フルカラー化が容易で、かつ安価であり、記録媒体として普通紙が使用可能、被印字物に対して非接触、という数多くの利点があるため普及が著しい。最近では、印刷物に耐候性や耐水性を付与するために、着色剤として顔料を用いるインクが広く用いられている。
また一方で、オフセットコート紙のような低吸液性のコート紙、又はポリ塩化ビニル樹脂、ポリプロピレン樹脂、ポリエステル樹脂等の非吸液性樹脂のフィルムを用いた商業印刷向けの記録媒体への印刷が求められてきている。
これら低吸収性、非吸収性の記録媒体上にインクジェット記録方法で印字を行った場合、液体成分の吸収が遅い、又は吸収されないため乾燥に時間がかかり印字初期の擦過性が劣ることが知られている。また紙内に顔料が浸透する普通紙とは異なり、低吸収性、非吸収性の記録媒体は顔料粒子が紙上に上残りし、直接外力を受けるために乾燥後の耐擦過性も劣ることが知られている。
これら低吸収性、非吸収性の記録媒体上にインクジェット記録方法で印字を行った場合、液体成分の吸収が遅い、又は吸収されないため乾燥に時間がかかり印字初期の擦過性が劣ることが知られている。また紙内に顔料が浸透する普通紙とは異なり、低吸収性、非吸収性の記録媒体は顔料粒子が紙上に上残りし、直接外力を受けるために乾燥後の耐擦過性も劣ることが知られている。
これらの課題を解決するために、インク吸液層を有する記録媒体を用いるインクジェット記録方法が提案されている。
例えば、特開2008-260279号公報には、顔料を含有する塗工層を塗布してなるメディアに印字するインクジェット記録方法であって、メディアの前記塗工層を有する面への純水の転移量、及び塗工層を有する紙面pHが特定範囲にあるメディアに対し、粒子状の色材とエマルジョン樹脂及び界面活性剤を含有するpH8以上のインクを用いて印字するインクジェット記録方法が開示されている。また、乾燥装置を備えた記録装置が提案されている。
しかし、記録媒体や記録装置からの改善は、コストや消費電力等の観点で課題があり、インク組成からの改善が求められている。
例えば、特開2008-260279号公報には、顔料を含有する塗工層を塗布してなるメディアに印字するインクジェット記録方法であって、メディアの前記塗工層を有する面への純水の転移量、及び塗工層を有する紙面pHが特定範囲にあるメディアに対し、粒子状の色材とエマルジョン樹脂及び界面活性剤を含有するpH8以上のインクを用いて印字するインクジェット記録方法が開示されている。また、乾燥装置を備えた記録装置が提案されている。
しかし、記録媒体や記録装置からの改善は、コストや消費電力等の観点で課題があり、インク組成からの改善が求められている。
そして、顔料を水系インク中に安定に配合するために、顔料をポリマーで内包した着色微粒子が開発されている。
例えば、特開2003-306611号公報には、(1)分散安定性に優れる、(2)記録ヘッドからの吐出安定性に優れる、(3)画像の堅牢性に優れる記録物を得ることができる、(4)画像の印字濃度が高い記録物を得ることができる、(5)画像の耐擦性に優れる記録物を得ることができる、(6)記録媒体として普通紙を使用する場合においても、画像が滲みにくく、また画像の発色性が高い記録物を得ることができる、という前記(1)~(6)の全てを満足するインクジェット記録用インクを作製可能なマイクロカプセル化顔料の製造方法として、親水性基を表面に有する顔料粒子が乳化重合法によりポリマーで被覆されたマイクロカプセル化顔料の製造方法が開示されている。
例えば、特開2003-306611号公報には、(1)分散安定性に優れる、(2)記録ヘッドからの吐出安定性に優れる、(3)画像の堅牢性に優れる記録物を得ることができる、(4)画像の印字濃度が高い記録物を得ることができる、(5)画像の耐擦性に優れる記録物を得ることができる、(6)記録媒体として普通紙を使用する場合においても、画像が滲みにくく、また画像の発色性が高い記録物を得ることができる、という前記(1)~(6)の全てを満足するインクジェット記録用インクを作製可能なマイクロカプセル化顔料の製造方法として、親水性基を表面に有する顔料粒子が乳化重合法によりポリマーで被覆されたマイクロカプセル化顔料の製造方法が開示されている。
また、特開2003-261605号公報には、重合中のポリマーエマルションの安定性、あるいはポリマー塗膜の耐水性等の物性が良好なポリマーエマルションを与える重合性界面活性剤として、炭素数5~18のアルキレン基又はアルコキシメチルエチレン基と炭素数2~4のアルキレン基を有する硫酸塩が開示されている。特開2003-261605号公報に開示されたポリマーエマルションは、ポリマー塗膜として塗料や粘着剤に使用することができる。
本発明は、次の〔1〕~〔3〕に関する。
〔1〕 顔料と、重合性モノマーと、重合性界面活性剤と、水とを含む分散体を乳化重合する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法であって、

特開2003-306611号公報の技術では、インクの保存安定性は良好であるが、水を吸収しにくい記録媒体に印刷した際の耐擦過性が不十分であった。
本発明は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像が得られる、インクジェット記録用水系インクに用いられる着色微粒子分散体の製造方法、その着色微粒子分散体、及びその着色微粒子分散体を含有するインクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法に関する。
なお、本発明において、「低吸水性」とは、低吸液性、非吸液性を含む概念である。
本発明は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像が得られる、インクジェット記録用水系インクに用いられる着色微粒子分散体の製造方法、その着色微粒子分散体、及びその着色微粒子分散体を含有するインクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法に関する。
なお、本発明において、「低吸水性」とは、低吸液性、非吸液性を含む概念である。
本発明者らは、水と有機溶媒とを含む溶液中で、重合性界面活性剤で顔料を分散させ、その後、有機溶媒を除去して乳化重合することにより、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像が得られる、インクジェット記録用水系インクに用いられる着色微粒子分散体を製造できることを見出した。
すなわち、本発明は、次の〔1〕~〔3〕に関する。
〔1〕 顔料と、重合性モノマーと、重合性界面活性剤と、水とを含む分散体を乳化重合する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法であって、
下記の工程1~3を有する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
工程1:顔料と、重合性界面活性剤と、水と、有機溶媒とを含む混合液を分散して分散体1を得る工程
工程2:分散体1から有機溶媒を除去して分散体2を得る工程
工程3:分散体2と重合性モノマーを乳化重合し、着色微粒子分散体を得る工程
〔2〕 前記〔1〕で得られた着色微粒子分散体と、有機溶媒Bを混合する工程を有する、インクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法。
〔3〕 前記〔1〕で得られた、着色微粒子の平均粒径が10nm以上300nm以下である着色微粒子分散体。

本発明によれば、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像が得られる、インクジェット記録用水系インクに用いられる着色微粒子分散体の製造方法、及びその着色微粒子分散体を含有するインクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法を提供することができる。
[着色微粒子分散体の製造方法]
本発明の製造方法は、顔料と、重合性モノマーと、重合性界面活性剤と、水とを含む分散体を乳化重合する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法であって、前記工程1~3を有する。着色微粒子とは顔料粒子がポリマーで被覆された粒子をいう。
本発明の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像が得られる効果を奏する。その理由は定かではないが、以下のように考えられる。
顔料と重合性界面活性剤を用いて水に分散させる際に、有機溶媒を含む水系溶媒とすることにより、顔料表面と水系溶媒との親和性が向上して顔料同士の凝集が抑制され、分散粒径が小さくなる。そして、有機溶媒を除去後も重合性界面活性剤により顔料粒子の粒径が維持され、乳化重合後も平均粒径の小さい顔料分散体(着色微粒子分散体)が得られるため、塗膜性が良好でより平坦な画像が得られ、光沢及び耐擦過性が優れるものと考えられる。
また、顔料分散後に有機溶媒を除去することにより、重合の際の樹脂の樹脂同士の融着が抑制され、平均粒径の小さい粒子が得られると考えられる。
本発明の製造方法は、顔料と、重合性モノマーと、重合性界面活性剤と、水とを含む分散体を乳化重合する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法であって、前記工程1~3を有する。着色微粒子とは顔料粒子がポリマーで被覆された粒子をいう。
本発明の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像が得られる効果を奏する。その理由は定かではないが、以下のように考えられる。
顔料と重合性界面活性剤を用いて水に分散させる際に、有機溶媒を含む水系溶媒とすることにより、顔料表面と水系溶媒との親和性が向上して顔料同士の凝集が抑制され、分散粒径が小さくなる。そして、有機溶媒を除去後も重合性界面活性剤により顔料粒子の粒径が維持され、乳化重合後も平均粒径の小さい顔料分散体(着色微粒子分散体)が得られるため、塗膜性が良好でより平坦な画像が得られ、光沢及び耐擦過性が優れるものと考えられる。
また、顔料分散後に有機溶媒を除去することにより、重合の際の樹脂の樹脂同士の融着が抑制され、平均粒径の小さい粒子が得られると考えられる。
(工程1:顔料分散工程)
工程1は、顔料と、重合性界面活性剤と、水と、有機溶媒とを含む混合液を分散して分散体1を得る工程である。
(顔料)
本発明に用いられる顔料は、無機顔料及び有機顔料のいずれであってもよい。
無機顔料としては、例えば、カーボンブラック、金属酸化物等が挙げられ、特に黒色インクにおいては、カーボンブラックが好ましい。カーボンブラックとしては、ファーネスブラック、サーマルランプブラック、アセチレンブラック、チャンネルブラック等が挙げられる。
有機顔料としては、例えば、アゾ顔料、ジアゾ顔料、フタロシアニン顔料、キナクリドン顔料、イソインドリノン顔料、ジオキサジン顔料、ペリレン顔料、ペリノン顔料、チオインジゴ顔料、アントラキノン顔料、キノフタロン顔料等が挙げられる。
色相は特に限定されず、イエロー、マゼンタ、シアン、赤色、青色、オレンジ、グリーン等の有彩色顔料をいずれも用いることができる。
工程1は、顔料と、重合性界面活性剤と、水と、有機溶媒とを含む混合液を分散して分散体1を得る工程である。
(顔料)
本発明に用いられる顔料は、無機顔料及び有機顔料のいずれであってもよい。
無機顔料としては、例えば、カーボンブラック、金属酸化物等が挙げられ、特に黒色インクにおいては、カーボンブラックが好ましい。カーボンブラックとしては、ファーネスブラック、サーマルランプブラック、アセチレンブラック、チャンネルブラック等が挙げられる。
有機顔料としては、例えば、アゾ顔料、ジアゾ顔料、フタロシアニン顔料、キナクリドン顔料、イソインドリノン顔料、ジオキサジン顔料、ペリレン顔料、ペリノン顔料、チオインジゴ顔料、アントラキノン顔料、キノフタロン顔料等が挙げられる。
色相は特に限定されず、イエロー、マゼンタ、シアン、赤色、青色、オレンジ、グリーン等の有彩色顔料をいずれも用いることができる。
本発明に用いられる顔料は、画像の光沢性の向上及び耐擦過性の向上の観点から、親水化処理していない顔料が好ましい。なお、顔料の親水化処理とは、アニオン性又はカチオン性の親水性官能基の1種以上を直接又は他の原子団を介して顔料の表面に結合する処理である。ここで、他の原子団としては、炭素原子数1~24のアルカンジイル基、置換基を有してもよいフェニレン基又は置換基を有してもよいナフチレン基が挙げられる。
アニオン性親水性官能基としては、カルボキシ基(-COOM1)、スルホン酸基(-SO3M1)、リン酸基(-PO3M1 2)、又はそれらの解離したイオン形(-COO-、-SO3 -、-PO3 2-、-PO3 -M1)等の酸性基が挙げられる。上記化学式中、M1は、水素原子、アルカリ金属、アンモニウム又は有機アンモニウムを示す。
カチオン性親水性官能基としては、アンモニウム基、アミノ基等が挙げられる。
アニオン性親水性官能基としては、カルボキシ基(-COOM1)、スルホン酸基(-SO3M1)、リン酸基(-PO3M1 2)、又はそれらの解離したイオン形(-COO-、-SO3 -、-PO3 2-、-PO3 -M1)等の酸性基が挙げられる。上記化学式中、M1は、水素原子、アルカリ金属、アンモニウム又は有機アンモニウムを示す。
カチオン性親水性官能基としては、アンモニウム基、アミノ基等が挙げられる。
(重合性界面活性剤)
本発明に用いられる重合性界面活性剤は、反応性界面活性剤ともいわれるものであり、エチレン性不飽和単量体と共重合可能であり、分子内にラジカル重合可能な不飽和二重結合を少なくとも1個以上有するアニオン性又はノニオン性の界面活性剤が挙げられる。例えば、スルホコハク酸エステル系の界面活性剤、アルキルフェノールエーテル系の界面活性剤、及びポリオキシエチレン系の界面活性剤から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。
市販の重合性界面活性剤としては、例えば、「アデカリアソープ」(旭電化株式会社製)、「アクアロン」(第一工業製薬株式会社製)、「エレミノールJS」、「エレミノールRS」(三洋化成工業株式会社製)、「ラテムルPD」(花王株式会社製)等が挙げられる。
本発明に用いられる重合性界面活性剤は、反応性界面活性剤ともいわれるものであり、エチレン性不飽和単量体と共重合可能であり、分子内にラジカル重合可能な不飽和二重結合を少なくとも1個以上有するアニオン性又はノニオン性の界面活性剤が挙げられる。例えば、スルホコハク酸エステル系の界面活性剤、アルキルフェノールエーテル系の界面活性剤、及びポリオキシエチレン系の界面活性剤から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。
市販の重合性界面活性剤としては、例えば、「アデカリアソープ」(旭電化株式会社製)、「アクアロン」(第一工業製薬株式会社製)、「エレミノールJS」、「エレミノールRS」(三洋化成工業株式会社製)、「ラテムルPD」(花王株式会社製)等が挙げられる。
重合性界面活性剤は、得られる印字物の画像の光沢性の向上及び耐擦過性の向上の観点から、下記一般式(I)及び下記一般式(II)で表される化合物から選ばれる1種以上の化合物を用いることが好ましく、画像の光沢性の向上の観点から、一般式(I)で表される化合物(A)(以下、単に「化合物(A)」ともいう)がより好ましい。
式(I)において、BOで示されるブチレンオキシ基としては、ブタン-1,2-ジイルオキシ基、ブタン-1,3-ジイルオキシ基、テトラメチレンオキシ基が挙げられるが、ブタン-1,2-ジイルオキシ基が好ましい。
BOの平均付加モル数mは、好ましくは2以上、より好ましくは3以上、更に好ましくは4以上であり、そして、好ましくは9以下、より好ましくは8以下、更に好ましくは7以下である。
EOの平均付加モル数nは、好ましくは5以上、より好ましくは7以上、更に好ましくは9以上、より更に好ましくは11以上、そして、25以下、好ましくは23以下、より好ましくは21以下、更に好ましくは19以下である。
式(I)において、(BO)mと(EO)nはこの順序でブロック結合している。
BOの平均付加モル数mは、好ましくは2以上、より好ましくは3以上、更に好ましくは4以上であり、そして、好ましくは9以下、より好ましくは8以下、更に好ましくは7以下である。
EOの平均付加モル数nは、好ましくは5以上、より好ましくは7以上、更に好ましくは9以上、より更に好ましくは11以上、そして、25以下、好ましくは23以下、より好ましくは21以下、更に好ましくは19以下である。
式(I)において、(BO)mと(EO)nはこの順序でブロック結合している。
式(I)において、Mで示される陽イオンとしては、リチウム、ナトリウム、カリウム等のアルカリ金属;カルシウム等のアルカリ土類金属イオン;マグネシウムイオン;アンモニウム基;モノメチルアンモニウム基、ジメチルアンモニウム基、トリメチルアンモニウム基;モノエチルアンモニウム基、ジエチルアンモニウム基、トリエチルアンモニウム基;モノメタノールアンモニウム基、ジメタノールアンモニウム基、トリメタノールアンモニウム基等の有機アンモニウム基から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。これらの中では、着色微粒子分散体の安定性向上の観点から、一価の陽イオンが好ましく、その中でもアンモニウム基がより好ましい。
式(I)で表される化合物(A)は、公知の方法を用いて製造することができ、例えば、3-メチル-3-ブテン-1-オールに1,2-ブチレンオキシドを付加した後、エチレンオキシドを付加してエーテルアルコールを得、これを硫酸化剤により硫酸化し、塩基性物質で中和することによって得られる。硫酸化剤としては、クロロスルホン酸、無水硫酸、アミド硫酸が挙げられるが、二重結合基への硫酸基の付加反応、二重結合基の異性化等の副反応を少なくする観点からアミド硫酸の使用が好ましい。
式(II)において、Rである炭化水素基の炭素数は8以上であり、得られる印字物の耐擦過性の向上の観点から、好ましくは10以上であり、そして14以下、より好ましくは12以下である。
(CH2CH2O)の平均付加モル数pは4以上であり、耐擦過性の向上の観点から、好ましくは5以上であり、そして15以下、好ましくは12以下である。
(CH2CH2O)の平均付加モル数pは4以上であり、耐擦過性の向上の観点から、好ましくは5以上であり、そして15以下、好ましくは12以下である。
式(II)において、M2で示される陽イオンとしては、リチウム、ナトリウム、カリウム等のアルカリ金属;カルシウム等のアルカリ土類金属イオン;マグネシウムイオン;アンモニウム基;モノメチルアンモニウム基、ジメチルアンモニウム基、トリメチルアンモニウム基;モノエチルアンモニウム基、ジエチルアンモニウム基、トリエチルアンモニウム基;モノメタノールアンモニウム基、ジメタノールアンモニウム基、トリメタノールアンモニウム基等の有機アンモニウム基から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。これらの中では、着色微粒子分散体の安定性の向上の観点から、一価の陽イオンが好ましく、その中でもアンモニウム基がより好ましい。
工程1における、重合性界面活性剤の添加量は、顔料に対して、好ましくは1質量%以上、より好ましくは5質量%以上、更に好ましくは8質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは50質量%以下、より好ましくは30質量%以下、更に好ましくは20質量%以下、より更に好ましくは15質量%以下である。1質量%以上であれば、顔料の分散性が優れたものとなり、小粒子径で均一な顔料分散体(分散体1)が得られる。30質量%以下であれば、顔料の吸着しないポリマー単独からなる粒子の発生を抑制でき、吐出不良等に関係するインク濃縮時の粘度上昇を抑えることができる。
上記の重合性界面活性剤の添加により、工程1における重合性界面活性剤の含有量は、顔料に対して、好ましくは1質量%以上、より好ましくは5質量%以上、更に好ましくは8質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは50質量%以下、より好ましくは30質量%以下、更に好ましくは20質量%以下、より更に好ましくは15質量%以下となる。
上記の重合性界面活性剤の添加により、工程1における重合性界面活性剤の含有量は、顔料に対して、好ましくは1質量%以上、より好ましくは5質量%以上、更に好ましくは8質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは50質量%以下、より好ましくは30質量%以下、更に好ましくは20質量%以下、より更に好ましくは15質量%以下となる。
本発明では、分散媒として、水と有機溶媒を用いる。
有機溶媒としては、炭素数1以上6以下のアルコール類、ケトン類の他、エーテル類、アミド類、芳香族炭化水素類、炭素数5以上10以下の脂肪族炭化水素類等から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。これらの中でも、好ましくは炭素原子数1以上5以下の酸素原子を有する極性溶媒であり、より好ましくは炭素原子数1以上5以下のアルコール類、及び炭素数1以上5以下のケトン類から選ばれる1以上、更に好ましくは炭素数1以上5以下のケトン類である。具体的にはメタノール、エタノール、アセトン、及びメチルエチルケトンから選ばれる1種以上が挙げられ、画像の光沢性の向上及び耐擦過性の向上の観点から、メチルエチルケトンが好ましい。
有機溶媒としては、炭素数1以上6以下のアルコール類、ケトン類の他、エーテル類、アミド類、芳香族炭化水素類、炭素数5以上10以下の脂肪族炭化水素類等から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。これらの中でも、好ましくは炭素原子数1以上5以下の酸素原子を有する極性溶媒であり、より好ましくは炭素原子数1以上5以下のアルコール類、及び炭素数1以上5以下のケトン類から選ばれる1以上、更に好ましくは炭素数1以上5以下のケトン類である。具体的にはメタノール、エタノール、アセトン、及びメチルエチルケトンから選ばれる1種以上が挙げられ、画像の光沢性の向上及び耐擦過性の向上の観点から、メチルエチルケトンが好ましい。
水と、これらの有機溶媒の比率にも得に制限はないが、インクの保存安定性の向上の観点から、有機溶媒と水の重量比(有機溶媒/水)は、好ましくは0.05以上、より好ましくは0.08以上、更に好ましくは0.10以上、より更に好ましくは0.12以上であり、そして、好ましくは0.40以下、より好ましくは0.35以下、更に好ましくは0.30以下、より更に好ましくは0.25以下である。
分散体1を得るための分散処理で用いる混合分散機は、公知の種々の分散機を用いることができる。例えば、ディスパー、ホモミキサー等の高速撹拌混合装置、ロールミル、ニーダー、エクストルーダ等の混練機、高圧ホモジナイザー等の高圧式分散機、ペイントシェーカー、ビーズミル等のメディア式分散機、アンカー翼等の混合撹拌装置等が挙げられる。これらの装置は複数を組み合わせて使用することもできる。
これらの中では、顔料を水中に均一に分散させる観点から、ディスパー、ホモミキサー等の高速撹拌混合装置、ペイントシェーカーやビーズミル等のメディア式分散機が好ましい。市販の高速撹拌混合装置としては、浅田鉄工株式会社製「ウルトラディスパー」、プライミクス株式会社製「ロボミックス」、市販のメディア式分散機としては、寿工業株式会社製「ウルトラ・アペックス・ミル」、浅田鉄工株式会社製「ピコミル」等が挙げられる。
メディア式分散機を用いる場合に、分散工程で用いるメディアの材質としては、ジルコニア、チタニア等のセラミックス、ポリエチレン、ナイロン等の高分子材料、金属等が好ましく、摩耗性の観点からジルコニアが好ましい。また、メディアの直径としては、顔料を十分に微細化する観点から、好ましくは0.003mm以上、より好ましくは0.01mm以上であり、また、好ましくは0.5mm以下、より好ましくは0.4mm以下である。
分散時間は、顔料を十分に微細化する観点から、好ましくは0.3時間以上、より好ましくは1時間以上であり、また、顔料分散体の製造効率の観点から、好ましくは200時間以下、より好ましくは50時間以下である。
これらの中では、顔料を水中に均一に分散させる観点から、ディスパー、ホモミキサー等の高速撹拌混合装置、ペイントシェーカーやビーズミル等のメディア式分散機が好ましい。市販の高速撹拌混合装置としては、浅田鉄工株式会社製「ウルトラディスパー」、プライミクス株式会社製「ロボミックス」、市販のメディア式分散機としては、寿工業株式会社製「ウルトラ・アペックス・ミル」、浅田鉄工株式会社製「ピコミル」等が挙げられる。
メディア式分散機を用いる場合に、分散工程で用いるメディアの材質としては、ジルコニア、チタニア等のセラミックス、ポリエチレン、ナイロン等の高分子材料、金属等が好ましく、摩耗性の観点からジルコニアが好ましい。また、メディアの直径としては、顔料を十分に微細化する観点から、好ましくは0.003mm以上、より好ましくは0.01mm以上であり、また、好ましくは0.5mm以下、より好ましくは0.4mm以下である。
分散時間は、顔料を十分に微細化する観点から、好ましくは0.3時間以上、より好ましくは1時間以上であり、また、顔料分散体の製造効率の観点から、好ましくは200時間以下、より好ましくは50時間以下である。
工程1の分散処理としては、顔料粒子を微細化させて分散させる観点から、高圧分散する処理を有することが好ましい。具体的には顔料と、重合性界面活性剤と、水、有機溶媒を含む混合液を分散処理した後に、更に高圧分散処理して分散体1を得ることが好ましく、高速撹拌混合装置又はメディア式分散機により分散処理した後に、更に高圧分散処理して分散体1を得ることがより好ましい。
ここで、「高圧分散」とは、20MPa以上の分散圧力で分散することを意味し、分散圧力は、顔料表面を重合性界面活性剤で濡らして均一分散させる観点から、好ましくは50MPa以上、より好ましくは100MPa以上、更に好ましくは130MPa以上である。そして、分散圧力は、分散処理の操作性の観点から、好ましくは250MPa以下、より好ましくは200MPa以下である。
高圧分散処理のパス数は、顔料表面を重合性界面活性剤で濡らして均一分散させる観点から、好ましくは2パス以上、より好ましくは3パス以上、更に好ましくは5パス以上、より更に好ましくは7パス以上、より更に好ましくは9パス以上である。そして、高圧分散処理のパス数は、分散処理の効率の観点から、20パス以下である。運転方式としては、循環方式、連続方式のいずれも採用しうるが、パス回数により分布が生じることを抑制する観点から、連続方式がより好ましい。
用いられる高圧分散機としては、高圧ホモゲナイザー(株式会社イズミフードマシナリ、商品名)に代表されるホモバルブ式の高圧ホモジナイザー、マイクロフルイダイザー(Microfluidics 社、商品名)、ナノマイザー(吉田機械興業株式会社、商品名)、アルティマイザー、スターバースト(スギノマシン株式会社、商品名)等のチャンバー式の高圧ホモジナイザー等の高圧式分散機が挙げられ、マイクロフルイダイザー(商品名)、ナノマイザー(商品名)、アルティマイザー、スターバースト(商品名)等のチャンバー式の高圧ホモジナイザーが好ましい。
高圧分散処理時の分散体の温度は特に限定されないが、5~80℃が好ましい。
ここで、「高圧分散」とは、20MPa以上の分散圧力で分散することを意味し、分散圧力は、顔料表面を重合性界面活性剤で濡らして均一分散させる観点から、好ましくは50MPa以上、より好ましくは100MPa以上、更に好ましくは130MPa以上である。そして、分散圧力は、分散処理の操作性の観点から、好ましくは250MPa以下、より好ましくは200MPa以下である。
高圧分散処理のパス数は、顔料表面を重合性界面活性剤で濡らして均一分散させる観点から、好ましくは2パス以上、より好ましくは3パス以上、更に好ましくは5パス以上、より更に好ましくは7パス以上、より更に好ましくは9パス以上である。そして、高圧分散処理のパス数は、分散処理の効率の観点から、20パス以下である。運転方式としては、循環方式、連続方式のいずれも採用しうるが、パス回数により分布が生じることを抑制する観点から、連続方式がより好ましい。
用いられる高圧分散機としては、高圧ホモゲナイザー(株式会社イズミフードマシナリ、商品名)に代表されるホモバルブ式の高圧ホモジナイザー、マイクロフルイダイザー(Microfluidics 社、商品名)、ナノマイザー(吉田機械興業株式会社、商品名)、アルティマイザー、スターバースト(スギノマシン株式会社、商品名)等のチャンバー式の高圧ホモジナイザー等の高圧式分散機が挙げられ、マイクロフルイダイザー(商品名)、ナノマイザー(商品名)、アルティマイザー、スターバースト(商品名)等のチャンバー式の高圧ホモジナイザーが好ましい。
高圧分散処理時の分散体の温度は特に限定されないが、5~80℃が好ましい。
(工程2:有機溶媒除去工程)
本発明では、分散体1から有機溶媒を除去して分散体2を得る工程を有する。工程1の顔料分散後に工程2で有機溶媒を除去することで、工程3の乳化重合により製造される樹脂の樹脂同士の融着を抑制し、分散粒径の小さな着色微粒子分散体が得られる。

有機溶媒の除去装置としては、回分単蒸留装置、減圧蒸留装置、フラッシュエバポレーター等の薄膜式蒸留装置、回転式蒸留装置、攪拌式蒸発装置等から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。効率よく有機溶媒を除去する観点から、回転式蒸留装置及び攪拌式蒸発装置から選ばれる1種以上が好ましく、一度に5kg以下の少量の分散処理物から有機溶媒を除去する場合には回転式蒸留装置が好ましく、一度に5kgを超える大量の分散処理物から有機溶媒を除去する場合には撹拌式蒸発装置が好ましい。回転式蒸留装置の中では、ロータリーエバポレーター等の回転式減圧蒸留装置が好ましい。撹拌式蒸発装置の中では、撹拌槽薄膜式蒸発装置等が好ましい。
有機溶媒を除去する際の分散処理物の温度は、用いる有機溶媒の種類によって適宜選択できるが、減圧下、20℃以上が好ましく、25℃以上がより好ましく、30℃以上が更に好ましく、そして、80℃以下が好ましく、70℃以下がより好ましく、65℃以下が更に好ましい。
このときの圧力は、有機溶媒を効率的に除去する観点から、0.01MPa以上が好ましく、0.02MPa以上がより好ましく、0.05MPa以上が更に好ましく、そして、0.5MPa以下が好ましく、0.2MPa以下がより好ましく、0.1MPa以下が更に好ましい。
有機溶媒を除去するための時間は、1時間以上が好ましく、2時間以上がより好ましく、5時間以上が更に好ましく、そして、24時間以下が好ましく、12時間以下がより好ましく、10時間以下が更に好ましい。
有機溶媒の除去は、分散体1の固形分濃度が、好ましく18質量%以上、より好ましくは20質量%以上、更に好ましくは22質量%以上になるまで行うことが好ましく、そして、好ましくは60質量%以下、より好ましくは40質量%以下、より更に好ましくは30質量%以下になるまで行うことが好ましい。
有機溶媒を除去する際の分散処理物の温度は、用いる有機溶媒の種類によって適宜選択できるが、減圧下、20℃以上が好ましく、25℃以上がより好ましく、30℃以上が更に好ましく、そして、80℃以下が好ましく、70℃以下がより好ましく、65℃以下が更に好ましい。
このときの圧力は、有機溶媒を効率的に除去する観点から、0.01MPa以上が好ましく、0.02MPa以上がより好ましく、0.05MPa以上が更に好ましく、そして、0.5MPa以下が好ましく、0.2MPa以下がより好ましく、0.1MPa以下が更に好ましい。
有機溶媒を除去するための時間は、1時間以上が好ましく、2時間以上がより好ましく、5時間以上が更に好ましく、そして、24時間以下が好ましく、12時間以下がより好ましく、10時間以下が更に好ましい。
有機溶媒の除去は、分散体1の固形分濃度が、好ましく18質量%以上、より好ましくは20質量%以上、更に好ましくは22質量%以上になるまで行うことが好ましく、そして、好ましくは60質量%以下、より好ましくは40質量%以下、より更に好ましくは30質量%以下になるまで行うことが好ましい。
(分散体2)
分散体2中の顔料の含有量は、良好な着色性を得る観点から、好ましくは5質量%以上、より好ましくは10質量%以上、更に好ましくは15質量%以上であり、また、分散安定性を維持する観点から、好ましくは40質量%以下、より好ましくは35質量%以下、更に好ましくは30質量%以下である。
分散体2中の重合性界面活性剤の含有量は、分散安定性を維持する観点から、好ましくは0.1質量%以上、より好ましくは0.5質量%以上、更に好ましくは1.0質量%以上であり、また、乳化重合工程において均一に顔料をポリマーで被覆する観点から、好ましくは30質量%以下、より好ましくは20質量%以下、更に好ましくは10質量%以下、より更に好ましくは5.0質量%以下である。
分散体2の固形分濃度は、好ましく18質量%以上、より好ましくは20質量%以上、更に好ましくは22質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは60質量%以下、より好ましくは40質量%以下、より更に好ましくは30質量%以下である。
分散体2中の顔料の含有量は、良好な着色性を得る観点から、好ましくは5質量%以上、より好ましくは10質量%以上、更に好ましくは15質量%以上であり、また、分散安定性を維持する観点から、好ましくは40質量%以下、より好ましくは35質量%以下、更に好ましくは30質量%以下である。
分散体2中の重合性界面活性剤の含有量は、分散安定性を維持する観点から、好ましくは0.1質量%以上、より好ましくは0.5質量%以上、更に好ましくは1.0質量%以上であり、また、乳化重合工程において均一に顔料をポリマーで被覆する観点から、好ましくは30質量%以下、より好ましくは20質量%以下、更に好ましくは10質量%以下、より更に好ましくは5.0質量%以下である。
分散体2の固形分濃度は、好ましく18質量%以上、より好ましくは20質量%以上、更に好ましくは22質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは60質量%以下、より好ましくは40質量%以下、より更に好ましくは30質量%以下である。
(工程3:乳化重合工程)
本発明では、分散体2と重合性モノマーを乳化重合し、着色微粒子分散体を得る工程を有する。工程2の有機溶媒を除去する操作で重合性界面活性剤の重合を防止するため、重合開始剤は、工程2以前ではなく工程3で添加することが好ましい。
(乳化重合)
本発明において乳化重合とは、疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマーを、水を主成分とする分散媒体中で、界面活性剤の存在下で、乳化又は分散させ、重合開始剤を用いて重合する方法を意味する。
本発明では、分散体2と重合性モノマーを乳化重合し、着色微粒子分散体を得る工程を有する。工程2の有機溶媒を除去する操作で重合性界面活性剤の重合を防止するため、重合開始剤は、工程2以前ではなく工程3で添加することが好ましい。
(乳化重合)
本発明において乳化重合とは、疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマーを、水を主成分とする分散媒体中で、界面活性剤の存在下で、乳化又は分散させ、重合開始剤を用いて重合する方法を意味する。
本発明における乳化重合では、工程1で用いた前記重合性界面活性剤に加えて、さらに界面活性剤を追加することが好ましい。追加する界面活性剤は、重合性界面活性剤及び他の界面活性剤が挙げられる。他の界面活性剤としては、乳化重合用の界面活性剤を用いることができる。他の界面活性剤は、重合性モノマーを安定に乳化させる観点から、前記重合性界面活性剤がと同じアニオン性又は非イオン性であることが好ましい。
アニオン性界面活性剤としては、脂肪酸塩やアルキルベンゼンスルホン酸塩、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルフェニルエーテル硫酸エステル塩、ポリオキシエチレンアラルキルアリールエーテル硫酸エステル塩、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル硫酸エステル塩等が挙げられ、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル硫酸エステル塩が好ましい。非イオン性界面活性剤としては、ポリオキシエチレンノニルフェニルエーテルやポリオキシエチレンアラルキルアリールエーテル、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル等が挙げられる。
界面活性剤は、重合性モノマーを乳化し、重合性モノマーを安定に分散体2へ供給する役割を担っている。乳化重合時に重合性モノマーを乳化させる界面活性剤としては重合性界面活性剤が好ましく、工程1と同じ重合性界面活性剤がより好ましい。重合性界面活性剤は、分子内にラジカル重合可能な不飽和二重結合を1個以上有するので、重合性モノマーと共重合することによりポリマー中に組み込まれるため、安定性に優れた着色微粒子分散体を製造することができる。
アニオン性界面活性剤としては、脂肪酸塩やアルキルベンゼンスルホン酸塩、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルフェニルエーテル硫酸エステル塩、ポリオキシエチレンアラルキルアリールエーテル硫酸エステル塩、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル硫酸エステル塩等が挙げられ、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル硫酸エステル塩が好ましい。非イオン性界面活性剤としては、ポリオキシエチレンノニルフェニルエーテルやポリオキシエチレンアラルキルアリールエーテル、ポリオキシエチレンアルキルエーテル等が挙げられる。
界面活性剤は、重合性モノマーを乳化し、重合性モノマーを安定に分散体2へ供給する役割を担っている。乳化重合時に重合性モノマーを乳化させる界面活性剤としては重合性界面活性剤が好ましく、工程1と同じ重合性界面活性剤がより好ましい。重合性界面活性剤は、分子内にラジカル重合可能な不飽和二重結合を1個以上有するので、重合性モノマーと共重合することによりポリマー中に組み込まれるため、安定性に優れた着色微粒子分散体を製造することができる。
本発明における乳化重合は、顔料、重合性界面活性剤、及び疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマーの存在下で乳化重合を行う方法であれば特に制限はないが、下記工程3’によって行うことが好ましい。
(工程3’)
工程3’:分散体2に疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマーを混合して乳化重合を行う工程
工程3’に用いる分散体2中では、顔料粒子が水を主成分とする溶媒に分散しているとともに、親水性基と疎水性基と重合性基を有する重合性界面活性剤が共存している。このような分散体2に疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマーを混合して、例えば重合開始剤を添加するなどして重合性界面活性剤の重合性基及び重合性モノマーの重合性基を共重合させることによって、顔料がポリマーで被覆された着色微粒子分散体が作製される。
(工程3’)
工程3’:分散体2に疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマーを混合して乳化重合を行う工程
工程3’に用いる分散体2中では、顔料粒子が水を主成分とする溶媒に分散しているとともに、親水性基と疎水性基と重合性基を有する重合性界面活性剤が共存している。このような分散体2に疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマーを混合して、例えば重合開始剤を添加するなどして重合性界面活性剤の重合性基及び重合性モノマーの重合性基を共重合させることによって、顔料がポリマーで被覆された着色微粒子分散体が作製される。
本発明における乳化重合では、界面活性剤として前記重合性界面活性剤の他の界面活性剤を併用することもできるが、前記重合性界面活性剤の割合は界面活性剤総量(重合性界面活性剤+他の界面活性剤)に対し、好ましくは5質量%以上、より好ましくは20質量%以上であり、そして100質量%以下である。
界面活性剤の量は、画像の光沢性の向上及び耐擦過性の向上の観点から、工程3の乳化重合で用いる重合性モノマー100質量部に対して、好ましくは3質量部以上、より好ましくは4質量部以上、更に好ましくは5質量部以上であり、そして、好ましくは20質量部以下、より好ましくは15質量部以下、更に好ましくは12質量部以下である。
界面活性剤の量は、画像の光沢性の向上及び耐擦過性の向上の観点から、工程3の乳化重合で用いる重合性モノマー100質量部に対して、好ましくは3質量部以上、より好ましくは4質量部以上、更に好ましくは5質量部以上であり、そして、好ましくは20質量部以下、より好ましくは15質量部以下、更に好ましくは12質量部以下である。
(重合性モノマー)
本発明に用いられる重合性モノマーは、疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含有する。なお、本発明において、単に「重合性モノマー」というときは、重合性界面活性剤は含まれない意味で使用するが、実際には後述する乳化重合において重合性界面活性剤は重合性モノマーと共重合することによりポリマー中に組み込まれる。
本発明において疎水性のビニル系モノマーの「疎水性」とは、該モノマーの25℃におけるイオン交換水100gへの溶解可能な量が10g未満であることをいう。
疎水性のビニル系モノマーとしては、その構造中に疎水性基と重合性基とを少なくとも有するもので、疎水性基が脂肪族炭化水素基、脂環式炭化水素基、及び芳香族炭化水素基から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。重合性基としては、ビニル基、アリル基、アクリロイル基、メタクリロイル基、プロペニル基、ビニリデン基、及びビニレン基から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられる。
本発明に用いられる重合性モノマーは、疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含有する。なお、本発明において、単に「重合性モノマー」というときは、重合性界面活性剤は含まれない意味で使用するが、実際には後述する乳化重合において重合性界面活性剤は重合性モノマーと共重合することによりポリマー中に組み込まれる。
本発明において疎水性のビニル系モノマーの「疎水性」とは、該モノマーの25℃におけるイオン交換水100gへの溶解可能な量が10g未満であることをいう。

疎水性のビニル系モノマーとしては、(メタ)アクリル酸エステル、及び芳香族環を有する疎水性モノマーから選ばれる1種又は2種以上が挙げられる。
(メタ)アクリル酸エステルとは、アクリル酸エステル及びメタクリル酸エステルから選ばれる1種又は2種を意味する。以下における「(メタ)」も同義である。
(メタ)アクリル酸エステルの具体例としては、アクリル酸メチル、アクリル酸エチル、アクリル酸プロピル、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル等の炭素数1以上10以下、好ましくは炭素数1以上8以下のアルキル基を有するアクリル酸エステル;メタクリル酸メチル、メタクリル酸エチル、メタクリル酸プロピル、メタクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル等の炭素数1以上10以下、より好ましくは炭素数1以上8以下のアルキル基を有するメタクリル酸エステル等が挙げられる。
これらの中では、アクリル酸メチル、アクリル酸エチル、メタクリル酸メチル、メタクリル酸エチル、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル、及びメタクリル酸2-エチルヘキシルから選ばれる1種以上が好ましい。
(メタ)アクリル酸エステルとは、アクリル酸エステル及びメタクリル酸エステルから選ばれる1種又は2種を意味する。以下における「(メタ)」も同義である。
(メタ)アクリル酸エステルの具体例としては、アクリル酸メチル、アクリル酸エチル、アクリル酸プロピル、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル等の炭素数1以上10以下、好ましくは炭素数1以上8以下のアルキル基を有するアクリル酸エステル;メタクリル酸メチル、メタクリル酸エチル、メタクリル酸プロピル、メタクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル等の炭素数1以上10以下、より好ましくは炭素数1以上8以下のアルキル基を有するメタクリル酸エステル等が挙げられる。
これらの中では、アクリル酸メチル、アクリル酸エチル、メタクリル酸メチル、メタクリル酸エチル、アクリル酸2-エチルヘキシル、及びメタクリル酸2-エチルヘキシルから選ばれる1種以上が好ましい。
芳香族環を有する疎水性モノマーとしては、スチレン系モノマー、芳香族基含有(メタ)アクリレート等が挙げられる。
スチレン系モノマーとしては、スチレン、2-メチルスチレン等が挙げられ、芳香族基含有(メタ)アクリレートとしては、ベンジル(メタ)アクリレート、フェノキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート等が挙げられる。これらの中では、スチレン及びベンジル(メタ)アクリレートから選ばれる1種以上が好ましく、スチレンがより好ましい。
疎水性モノマーの含有量は、着色微粒子分散体の分散安定性及び画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、重合性モノマー中、好ましくは70質量%以上、より好ましくは80質量%以上、更に好ましくは90質量%以上、より更に好ましくは93質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは100質量%以下、より好ましくは99質量%以下、更に好ましくは98質量%以下である。
スチレン系モノマーとしては、スチレン、2-メチルスチレン等が挙げられ、芳香族基含有(メタ)アクリレートとしては、ベンジル(メタ)アクリレート、フェノキシエチル(メタ)アクリレート等が挙げられる。これらの中では、スチレン及びベンジル(メタ)アクリレートから選ばれる1種以上が好ましく、スチレンがより好ましい。
疎水性モノマーの含有量は、着色微粒子分散体の分散安定性及び画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、重合性モノマー中、好ましくは70質量%以上、より好ましくは80質量%以上、更に好ましくは90質量%以上、より更に好ましくは93質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは100質量%以下、より好ましくは99質量%以下、更に好ましくは98質量%以下である。
重合性モノマーには、イオン性モノマーを含むことが好ましい。イオン性モノマーとしては、カルボン酸モノマー、スルホン酸モノマー、リン酸モノマー等のアニオン性モノマー、及びカチオン性モノマーが挙げられる。
カルボン酸モノマーとしては、(メタ)アクリル酸、クロトン酸、イタコン酸、マレイン酸、フマル酸、シトラコン酸、2-メタクリロイルオキシメチルコハク酸等が挙げられ、スルホン酸モノマーとしては、スチレンスルホン酸、2-アクリルアミド-2-メチルプロパンスルホン酸、3-スルホプロピル(メタ)アクリレート等が挙げられ、リン酸モノマーとしては、ビニルホスホン酸、ビニルホスフェート、ビス(メタクリロキシエチル)ホスフェート、ジフェニル-2-アクリロイルオキシエチルホスフェート、ジフェニル-2-メタクリロイルオキシエチルホスフェート等が挙げられる。
これらの中では、好ましくはカルボン酸モノマー、より好ましくは(メタ)アクリル酸、更に好ましくはメタクリル酸である。
イオン性モノマーの含有量は、着色微粒子分散体の分散安定性及び画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、重合性モノマー中、好ましくは0質量%以上、より好ましくは0.1質量%以上、更に好ましくは1質量%以上、より更に好ましくは2質量%以上であり、そして、好ましく20質量%以下、より好ましくは15質量%以下、更に好ましくは10質量%以下、より更に好ましくは7質量%以下である。
カルボン酸モノマーとしては、(メタ)アクリル酸、クロトン酸、イタコン酸、マレイン酸、フマル酸、シトラコン酸、2-メタクリロイルオキシメチルコハク酸等が挙げられ、スルホン酸モノマーとしては、スチレンスルホン酸、2-アクリルアミド-2-メチルプロパンスルホン酸、3-スルホプロピル(メタ)アクリレート等が挙げられ、リン酸モノマーとしては、ビニルホスホン酸、ビニルホスフェート、ビス(メタクリロキシエチル)ホスフェート、ジフェニル-2-アクリロイルオキシエチルホスフェート、ジフェニル-2-メタクリロイルオキシエチルホスフェート等が挙げられる。
これらの中では、好ましくはカルボン酸モノマー、より好ましくは(メタ)アクリル酸、更に好ましくはメタクリル酸である。
イオン性モノマーの含有量は、着色微粒子分散体の分散安定性及び画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、重合性モノマー中、好ましくは0質量%以上、より好ましくは0.1質量%以上、更に好ましくは1質量%以上、より更に好ましくは2質量%以上であり、そして、好ましく20質量%以下、より好ましくは15質量%以下、更に好ましくは10質量%以下、より更に好ましくは7質量%以下である。
前記重合性モノマーには、必要に応じて更に、ポリエチレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、メトキシポリエチレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、オクトキシポリエチレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート、及びステアロキシポリエチレングリコールモノ(メタ)アクリレート等のモノマーを使用することもできる。
商業的に入手しうるこれらのモノマーの具体例としては、NKエステルM-90G、同230G、同450G、同900G(以上、新中村化学工業株式会社製)、ライトエステル041MA(共栄社化学株式会社製)が挙げられる。

(重合開始剤)
重合開始剤としては、通常の乳化重合に用いられるものであればいずれも使用できるが、水溶性の重合開始剤を用いることが好ましい。具体的には、過硫酸カリウム、過硫酸アンモニウム等の過硫酸塩、過酸化水素、t-ブチルハイドロパーオキサイド、ベンゾイルパーオキサイド、クメンハイドロパーオキサイド等の有機過酸化物、アゾビスジイソブチロニトリル、2,2-アゾビス(2-アミジノプロパン)ジハイドロクロライド等のアゾ系開始剤等が挙げられる。これらの中でも過硫酸塩が好ましい。さらに過酸化物に亜硫酸ナトリウム、ロンガリット、アスコルビン酸等の還元剤を組み合わせたレドックス系の開始剤も使用できる。
乳化重合では連鎖移動剤を用いることもできる。例えば、n-ドデシルメルカプタン、t-ドデシルメルカプタン、n-オクチルメルカプタン等のメルカプタン類、ジメチルキサントゲンジスルフィド、ジイソブチルキサントゲンジスルフィド等のキサントゲン類、ジペンテン、インデン、1、4-シクロヘキサジエン、ジヒドロフラン、キサンテン等が挙げられる。
重合開始剤としては、通常の乳化重合に用いられるものであればいずれも使用できるが、水溶性の重合開始剤を用いることが好ましい。具体的には、過硫酸カリウム、過硫酸アンモニウム等の過硫酸塩、過酸化水素、t-ブチルハイドロパーオキサイド、ベンゾイルパーオキサイド、クメンハイドロパーオキサイド等の有機過酸化物、アゾビスジイソブチロニトリル、2,2-アゾビス(2-アミジノプロパン)ジハイドロクロライド等のアゾ系開始剤等が挙げられる。これらの中でも過硫酸塩が好ましい。さらに過酸化物に亜硫酸ナトリウム、ロンガリット、アスコルビン酸等の還元剤を組み合わせたレドックス系の開始剤も使用できる。
乳化重合では連鎖移動剤を用いることもできる。例えば、n-ドデシルメルカプタン、t-ドデシルメルカプタン、n-オクチルメルカプタン等のメルカプタン類、ジメチルキサントゲンジスルフィド、ジイソブチルキサントゲンジスルフィド等のキサントゲン類、ジペンテン、インデン、1、4-シクロヘキサジエン、ジヒドロフラン、キサンテン等が挙げられる。
乳化重合の分散媒としては、水の他に任意の有機溶媒を加えることもできる。
用いることのできる有機溶媒としては、炭素数1以上6以下のアルコール類、ケトン類の他、エーテル類、アミド類、芳香族炭化水素類、炭素数5以上10以下の脂肪族炭化水素類等が挙げられる。
水と、これらの有機溶媒の比率にも得に制限はないが、分散媒全体における水の割合は、好ましくは50質量%以上、より好ましくは65質量%以上、更に好ましくは75質量%以上、より更に好ましくは80質量%以上である。
用いることのできる有機溶媒としては、炭素数1以上6以下のアルコール類、ケトン類の他、エーテル類、アミド類、芳香族炭化水素類、炭素数5以上10以下の脂肪族炭化水素類等が挙げられる。
水と、これらの有機溶媒の比率にも得に制限はないが、分散媒全体における水の割合は、好ましくは50質量%以上、より好ましくは65質量%以上、更に好ましくは75質量%以上、より更に好ましくは80質量%以上である。
本発明における乳化重合条件には特に制限はない。重合性モノマーの量は、画像の光沢性を向上する観点から、乳化重合反応に用いる全系に対して好ましくは1質量%以上、より好ましくは10質量%以上、更に好ましくは15質量%以上であり、そして、インクの濃縮時の粘度上昇を抑制する観点から、好ましくは60質量%以下、より好ましくは40質量%以下、更に好ましくは25質量%以下である。
乳化重合時における、顔料に対する重合性モノマーの質量比(重合性モノマー/顔料)は、インクの濃縮時の粘度上昇を抑制する及びインクの濃縮時の粘度上昇を抑制する観点から、好ましくは90/10~10/90、より好ましくは80/20~20/80、更に好ましくは75/25~40/60である。
乳化重合時における、顔料に対する重合性モノマーの質量比(重合性モノマー/顔料)は、インクの濃縮時の粘度上昇を抑制する及びインクの濃縮時の粘度上昇を抑制する観点から、好ましくは90/10~10/90、より好ましくは80/20~20/80、更に好ましくは75/25~40/60である。
重合性モノマーの添加方法としては、モノマー滴下法、モノマー一括仕込み法、プレエマルション法等の公知の方法で行うことができるが、重合安定性の観点から、プレエマルション法が好ましい。プレエマルション法は、重合性モノマー、界面活性剤、及び水を予め混合乳化することでプレエマルションを作製し、プレエマルションを滴下する方法である。
具体的には分散体2を含む溶液に、重合性モノマーと界面活性剤と水とを含むエマルションを導入しながら乳化重合を行う操作を有する方法が挙げられる。界面活性剤として、重合性界面活性剤及び他の界面活性剤を用いることができる。
すなわち、工程3は、重合安定性の観点から、分散体2を含む溶液に、重合性モノマーと界面活性剤と水とを含むプレエマルションとして添加して乳化重合する工程であることが好ましい。
プレエマルションの作製は、粗大粒子の生成を抑制する観点から、回転式攪拌装置を用いて、回転速度を好ましくは200rpm以上、より好ましくは300rpm以上の条件で、そして好ましくは5000rpm以下、より好ましくは2000rpm以下、更に好ましくは1000rpm以下の条件で行うことができる。攪拌時間は、好ましくは10分以上、より好ましくは30分以下である。
プレエマルション法において、プレエマルションの滴下時間は、エマルションの粒子径の均一性の観点から、好ましくは0.5時間以上、より好ましくは1時間以上であり、そして、反応性の観点から、好ましくは8時間以下、より好ましくは6時間以下である。熟成時間は好ましくは0.5時間以上、より好ましくは1時間以上であり、そして、好ましくは5時間以下、より好ましくは3時間以下である。
具体的には分散体2を含む溶液に、重合性モノマーと界面活性剤と水とを含むエマルションを導入しながら乳化重合を行う操作を有する方法が挙げられる。界面活性剤として、重合性界面活性剤及び他の界面活性剤を用いることができる。
すなわち、工程3は、重合安定性の観点から、分散体2を含む溶液に、重合性モノマーと界面活性剤と水とを含むプレエマルションとして添加して乳化重合する工程であることが好ましい。
プレエマルションの作製は、粗大粒子の生成を抑制する観点から、回転式攪拌装置を用いて、回転速度を好ましくは200rpm以上、より好ましくは300rpm以上の条件で、そして好ましくは5000rpm以下、より好ましくは2000rpm以下、更に好ましくは1000rpm以下の条件で行うことができる。攪拌時間は、好ましくは10分以上、より好ましくは30分以下である。
プレエマルション法において、プレエマルションの滴下時間は、エマルションの粒子径の均一性の観点から、好ましくは0.5時間以上、より好ましくは1時間以上であり、そして、反応性の観点から、好ましくは8時間以下、より好ましくは6時間以下である。熟成時間は好ましくは0.5時間以上、より好ましくは1時間以上であり、そして、好ましくは5時間以下、より好ましくは3時間以下である。
乳化重合の重合温度は、重合開始剤の分解温度により適宜調整されるが、反応性の観点から、好ましくは50℃以上、より好ましくは60℃以上、更に好ましくは70℃以上であり、そして、得られる重合体の分子量分布の観点から、好ましくは90℃以下、より好ましくは85℃以下である。
水溶性重合開始剤として過硫酸塩を用いる場合の重合温度は、反応性の観点から、好ましくは70℃以上、より好ましくは75℃以上であり、そして、得られる重合体の分子量分布の観点から、好ましくは85℃以下、より好ましくは83℃以下である。
重合雰囲気は、反応性の観点から、窒素ガス雰囲気、アルゴン等の不活性ガス雰囲気であることが好ましい。
水溶性重合開始剤として過硫酸塩を用いる場合の重合温度は、反応性の観点から、好ましくは70℃以上、より好ましくは75℃以上であり、そして、得られる重合体の分子量分布の観点から、好ましくは85℃以下、より好ましくは83℃以下である。
重合雰囲気は、反応性の観点から、窒素ガス雰囲気、アルゴン等の不活性ガス雰囲気であることが好ましい。
乳化重合時における、式(I)で表される化合物(A)の使用量は、乳化重合を安定に行う観点、及び該化合物(A)の残存量を低減する観点から、重合性モノマー100質量部に対して、好ましくは0.5質量以上、より好ましくは1.0質量部以上、更に好ましくは3.0質量部以上、より更に好ましくは5.0質量部以上であり、そして、好ましくは40質量部以下、より好ましくは30質量部以下、更に好ましくは20質量部以下、より更に好ましくは15質量部以下である。なお、乳化重合時における化合物(A)の使用量とは、乳化重合時に含まれる重合性モノマー100質量部に対する化合物(A)の総量を意味する。
水溶性重合開始剤の使用量は、重合性モノマー100質量部に対して、得られる重合体の分子量分布の観点から、好ましくは0.01質量部以上、より好ましくは0.05質量部以上、更に好ましくは0.1質量部以上であり、そして、好ましくは5質量部以下、より好ましくは3質量部以下、更に好ましくは1質量部以下である。
水溶性重合開始剤の使用量は、重合性モノマー100質量部に対して、得られる重合体の分子量分布の観点から、好ましくは0.01質量部以上、より好ましくは0.05質量部以上、更に好ましくは0.1質量部以上であり、そして、好ましくは5質量部以下、より好ましくは3質量部以下、更に好ましくは1質量部以下である。
[着色微粒子分散体]
本発明の着色微粒子分散体は、顔料と、重合性界面活性剤及び、疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマー由来の構成単位を有するポリマーとを含む着色微粒子が水を主媒体とする中に分散しているものである。本発明の着色微粒子分散体は、着色微粒子分散体のインクジェット記録用水系インクの着色材として使用することができる。ここで、着色微粒子の形態は、少なくとも顔料がポリマーで被覆された複合粒子が形成されていることが好ましい。例えば、ポリマー粒子に顔料が内包された粒子形態、ポリマー粒子中に顔料が均一に分散された粒子形態、ポリマー粒子表面に顔料が露出された粒子形態等が含まれる。
着色微粒子分散体中の着色微粒子の含有量(固形分濃度)は、着色微粒子を安定に乳化分散させる観点から、好ましくは10質量%以上、より好ましくは15質量%以上、更に好ましくは20質量%以上、より更に好ましくは25質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは60質量%以下、より好ましくは55質量%以下、更に好ましくは50質量%以下、より更に好ましくは40質量%以下である。
着色微粒子分散体中の顔料の含有量は、印字濃度を向上させる観点から、1.0質量%以上が好ましく、3.0質量%以上がより好ましく、5.0質量%以上が更に好ましく、そして、40質量%以下が好ましく、30質量%以下がより好ましく、20質量%以下が更に好ましく、15質量%以下がより更に好ましい。
着色微粒子分散体中のポリマーの含有量は、耐擦過性を向上する観点から、1.0質量%以上が好ましく、5.0質量%以上がより好ましく、15質量%以上が更に好ましく、そして、50質量%以下が好ましく、40質量%以下がより好ましく、30質量%以下が更に好ましい。
本発明の着色微粒子分散体は、顔料と、重合性界面活性剤及び、疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマー由来の構成単位を有するポリマーとを含む着色微粒子が水を主媒体とする中に分散しているものである。本発明の着色微粒子分散体は、着色微粒子分散体のインクジェット記録用水系インクの着色材として使用することができる。ここで、着色微粒子の形態は、少なくとも顔料がポリマーで被覆された複合粒子が形成されていることが好ましい。例えば、ポリマー粒子に顔料が内包された粒子形態、ポリマー粒子中に顔料が均一に分散された粒子形態、ポリマー粒子表面に顔料が露出された粒子形態等が含まれる。
着色微粒子分散体中の着色微粒子の含有量(固形分濃度)は、着色微粒子を安定に乳化分散させる観点から、好ましくは10質量%以上、より好ましくは15質量%以上、更に好ましくは20質量%以上、より更に好ましくは25質量%以上であり、そして、好ましくは60質量%以下、より好ましくは55質量%以下、更に好ましくは50質量%以下、より更に好ましくは40質量%以下である。
着色微粒子分散体中の顔料の含有量は、印字濃度を向上させる観点から、1.0質量%以上が好ましく、3.0質量%以上がより好ましく、5.0質量%以上が更に好ましく、そして、40質量%以下が好ましく、30質量%以下がより好ましく、20質量%以下が更に好ましく、15質量%以下がより更に好ましい。
着色微粒子分散体中のポリマーの含有量は、耐擦過性を向上する観点から、1.0質量%以上が好ましく、5.0質量%以上がより好ましく、15質量%以上が更に好ましく、そして、50質量%以下が好ましく、40質量%以下がより好ましく、30質量%以下が更に好ましい。
着色微粒子分散体中のポリマーに対する顔料の質量比〔顔料/ポリマー〕は、水系インクの濃縮時のインク粘度上昇を抑え、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際の印字濃度を向上させる観点、画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、0.1以上であることが好ましく、0.2以上であることがより好ましく、0.4以上が更に好ましく、そして、4.0以下であることが好ましく、2.0以下であることがより好ましく、1.0以下が更に好ましい。
着色微粒子分散体中の粒子の平均粒径は、濃縮時のインク粘度の上昇を抑え、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際の耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、10nm以上が好ましく、30nm以上がより好ましく、40nm以上が更に好ましく、50nm以上がより更に好ましく、60nm以上がより更に好ましく、75nm以上がより更に好ましく、80nm以上がより更に好ましく、そして、300nm以下が好ましく、200nm以下がより好ましく、160nm以下が更に好ましく、150nm以下がより更に好ましく、140nm以下がより更に好ましく、130nm以下がより更に好ましい。
なお、着色微粒子の平均粒径は、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。

(中和剤)
本発明においては、着色微粒子の分散安定性及び水系インクの保存安定性を向上させる観点から、必要に応じて中和剤を用いることができる。中和剤を用いる場合、着色微粒子分散体のpHが好ましくは7以上、より好ましくは7.5以上にすることが好ましく、また、pHが好ましくは11以下、より好ましくは9.5以下にすることが好ましい。
中和剤としては、アルカリ金属の水酸化物、アンモニア、有機アミン等が挙げられる。
アルカリ金属の水酸化物としては、水酸化リチウム、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、水酸化セシウムが挙げられるが、水酸化ナトリウムが好ましい。
有機アミンとしては、トリメチルアミン、エチルアミン、ジエチルアミン、トリエチルアミン、トリエタノールアミン等が挙げられる。
中和剤は、単独で又は2種以上を混合して用いてもよい。
本発明においては、着色微粒子の分散安定性及び水系インクの保存安定性を向上させる観点から、必要に応じて中和剤を用いることができる。中和剤を用いる場合、着色微粒子分散体のpHが好ましくは7以上、より好ましくは7.5以上にすることが好ましく、また、pHが好ましくは11以下、より好ましくは9.5以下にすることが好ましい。
中和剤としては、アルカリ金属の水酸化物、アンモニア、有機アミン等が挙げられる。
アルカリ金属の水酸化物としては、水酸化リチウム、水酸化ナトリウム、水酸化カリウム、水酸化セシウムが挙げられるが、水酸化ナトリウムが好ましい。
有機アミンとしては、トリメチルアミン、エチルアミン、ジエチルアミン、トリエチルアミン、トリエタノールアミン等が挙げられる。
中和剤は、単独で又は2種以上を混合して用いてもよい。
[インクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法]
本発明のインクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像を得る観点から、本発明の着色微粒子分散体と、有機溶媒Bを混合する工程を有する。
本発明の製造方法により得られる水系インクにおいて、本発明の着色微粒子分散体は着色剤として使用される。
有機溶媒Bとして使用する化合物は、例えば、多価アルコール、多価アルコールアルキルエーテル、含窒素複素環化合物、アミド、アミン、含硫黄化合物等から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられ、画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、多価アルコール及び多価アルコールアルキルエーテルから選ばれる1種又は2種が好ましく、多価アルコールがより好ましい。多価アルコールは多価アルコールの概念に含まれる複数を混合して用いることができ、多価アルコールアルキルエーテルも同様に複数を混合して用いることができる。
有機溶媒B中の、多価アルコール及び多価アルコールアルキルエーテルから選ばれる1種又は2種の含有量は、80質量%以上が好ましく、90質量%以上がより好ましく、95質量%以上が更に好ましく、実質的に100質量%がより更に好ましく、100質量%がより更に好ましい。
本発明のインクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に耐擦過性に優れ、高い光沢性の画像を得る観点から、本発明の着色微粒子分散体と、有機溶媒Bを混合する工程を有する。
本発明の製造方法により得られる水系インクにおいて、本発明の着色微粒子分散体は着色剤として使用される。
有機溶媒Bとして使用する化合物は、例えば、多価アルコール、多価アルコールアルキルエーテル、含窒素複素環化合物、アミド、アミン、含硫黄化合物等から選ばれる1種以上が挙げられ、画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、多価アルコール及び多価アルコールアルキルエーテルから選ばれる1種又は2種が好ましく、多価アルコールがより好ましい。多価アルコールは多価アルコールの概念に含まれる複数を混合して用いることができ、多価アルコールアルキルエーテルも同様に複数を混合して用いることができる。
有機溶媒B中の、多価アルコール及び多価アルコールアルキルエーテルから選ばれる1種又は2種の含有量は、80質量%以上が好ましく、90質量%以上がより好ましく、95質量%以上が更に好ましく、実質的に100質量%がより更に好ましく、100質量%がより更に好ましい。
多価アルコールとしては、例えば、エチレングリコール、ジエチレングリコール、トリエチレングリコール、ポリエチレングリコール、プロピレングリコール、ジプロピレングリコール、トリプロピレングリコール等が挙げられる。これらの中では、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に、光沢度、耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、プロピレングリコールが好ましい。
多価アルコールアルキルエーテルとしては、例えば、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノイソブチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノイソブチルエーテル、テトラエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリプロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテル等が挙げられる。これらの中では、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に、光沢度、耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、ジエチレングリコールモノイソブチルエーテルが好ましい。
水系インクは、上記の有機溶媒Bの他に、通常用いられる湿潤剤、浸透剤、分散剤、界面活性剤、粘度調整剤、消泡剤、防腐剤、防黴剤、防錆剤等を添加して製造することができる。
多価アルコールアルキルエーテルとしては、例えば、エチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、エチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジエチレングリコールモノイソブチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、トリエチレングリコールモノイソブチルエーテル、テトラエチレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、プロピレングリコールモノエチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテル、ジプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリプロピレングリコールモノメチルエーテル、トリプロピレングリコールモノブチルエーテル等が挙げられる。これらの中では、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に、光沢度、耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、ジエチレングリコールモノイソブチルエーテルが好ましい。
水系インクは、上記の有機溶媒Bの他に、通常用いられる湿潤剤、浸透剤、分散剤、界面活性剤、粘度調整剤、消泡剤、防腐剤、防黴剤、防錆剤等を添加して製造することができる。
水系インク中の顔料の含有量は、画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、1質量%以上が好ましく、1.5質量%以上がより好ましく、2.0質量%以上が更に好ましく、そして、15質量%以下が好ましく、10質量%以下がより好ましく、6.0質量%以下が更に好ましい。
水系インク中のポリマーの含有量は、画像の光沢性を向上させ、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際の耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、0.5質量%以上が好ましく、0.8質量%以上がより好ましく、1.0質量%以上が更に好ましく、2質量%以上がより更に好ましく、そして、30質量%以下が好ましく、20質量%以下がより好ましく、12質量%以下が更に好ましい。
水系インク中の水の含有量は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に、耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、インクジェット記録用水系インク中、20質量%以上が好ましく、30質量%以上がより好ましく、40質量%以上が更に好ましい。また、インクの吐出性を向上させる観点から、70質量%以下が好ましく、65質量%以下がより好ましく、60質量%以下が更に好ましい。
水系インク中のポリマーに対する顔料の質量比〔顔料/ポリマー〕は、画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、0.1以上であることが好ましく、0.2以上であることがより好ましく、0.4以上が更に好ましく、そして、4.0以下であることが好ましく、2.0以下であることがより好ましく、1.0以下が更に好ましい。
水系インク中のポリマーの含有量は、画像の光沢性を向上させ、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際の耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、0.5質量%以上が好ましく、0.8質量%以上がより好ましく、1.0質量%以上が更に好ましく、2質量%以上がより更に好ましく、そして、30質量%以下が好ましく、20質量%以下がより好ましく、12質量%以下が更に好ましい。
水系インク中の水の含有量は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際に、耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、インクジェット記録用水系インク中、20質量%以上が好ましく、30質量%以上がより好ましく、40質量%以上が更に好ましい。また、インクの吐出性を向上させる観点から、70質量%以下が好ましく、65質量%以下がより好ましく、60質量%以下が更に好ましい。
水系インク中のポリマーに対する顔料の質量比〔顔料/ポリマー〕は、画像の光沢性を向上させる観点から、0.1以上であることが好ましく、0.2以上であることがより好ましく、0.4以上が更に好ましく、そして、4.0以下であることが好ましく、2.0以下であることがより好ましく、1.0以下が更に好ましい。
(水系インクの物性)
着色微粒子の水系インク中の平均粒径は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際の耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、10nm以上が好ましく、30nm以上がより好ましく、40nm以上が更に好ましく、50nm以上がより更に好ましく、60nm以上がより更に好ましく、75nm以上がより更に好ましく、80nm以上がより更に好ましく、また、300nm以下が好ましく、200nm以下がより好ましく、160nm以下が更に好ましく、150nm以下がより更に好ましく、140nm以下がより更に好ましく、130nm以下がより更に好ましい。
なお、水系インク中の粒子の平均粒径は、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。
着色微粒子の水系インク中の平均粒径は、低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際の耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、10nm以上が好ましく、30nm以上がより好ましく、40nm以上が更に好ましく、50nm以上がより更に好ましく、60nm以上がより更に好ましく、75nm以上がより更に好ましく、80nm以上がより更に好ましく、また、300nm以下が好ましく、200nm以下がより好ましく、160nm以下が更に好ましく、150nm以下がより更に好ましく、140nm以下がより更に好ましく、130nm以下がより更に好ましい。
なお、水系インク中の粒子の平均粒径は、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。
水系インクの25℃の粘度は、水系インクの保存安定性及び吐出性を向上させる観点から、2.0mPa・s以上が好ましく、3.0mPa・s以上がより好ましく、4.0mPa・s以上が更に好ましく、そして、12mPa・s以下が好ましく、9.0mPa・s以下がより好ましく、7.0mPa・s以下が更に好ましい。
なお、25℃におけるインクの粘度は、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。
水系インクの20℃における静的表面張力は、水系インクの吐出性を良好にする観点から、好ましくは20mN/m以上、より好ましくは25mN/m以上であり、そして、好ましくは50mN/m以下、より好ましくは45mN/m以下、更に好ましくは40mN/m以下、より更に好ましくは35mN/m以下である。なお、20℃におけるインクの静的表面張力は、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。
水系インクのpHは、水系インクの保存安定性を向上させる観点、及び低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際の耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、7.0以上が好ましく、7.5以上がより好ましく、8.0以上が更に好ましい。また、部材耐性、皮膚刺激性の観点から、pHは11.0以下が好ましく、10.0以下がより好ましく、9.5以下が更に好ましい。なお、pHは、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。
なお、25℃におけるインクの粘度は、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。
水系インクの20℃における静的表面張力は、水系インクの吐出性を良好にする観点から、好ましくは20mN/m以上、より好ましくは25mN/m以上であり、そして、好ましくは50mN/m以下、より好ましくは45mN/m以下、更に好ましくは40mN/m以下、より更に好ましくは35mN/m以下である。なお、20℃におけるインクの静的表面張力は、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。
水系インクのpHは、水系インクの保存安定性を向上させる観点、及び低吸水性の記録媒体に印字した際の耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、7.0以上が好ましく、7.5以上がより好ましく、8.0以上が更に好ましい。また、部材耐性、皮膚刺激性の観点から、pHは11.0以下が好ましく、10.0以下がより好ましく、9.5以下が更に好ましい。なお、pHは、実施例に記載の方法により測定される。
(インクジェット記録方法)
本発明の水系インクは、普通紙やインクジェット専用紙等の記録媒体に記録するインクジェット記録方法に用いることができるが、耐擦過性に優れる点で、好ましくは低吸水性の記録媒体に記録するインクジェット記録方法に用いることができる。
インクジェット記録装置の水系インク飛翔手段としては、サーマル式又はピエゾ式のインクジェットヘッドを用いてインクを飛翔する方法があるが、本発明においては、ピエゾ式のインクジェットヘッドを用いてインクを飛翔させ印字する方法が好ましい。
低吸水性の記録媒体の純水との接触時間100m秒における吸水量は、印字物の乾燥性を早め、耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、0g/m2以上が好ましく、1.0g/m2以上がより好ましく、2.0g/m2以上が更に好ましく、そして、印字濃度、光沢度を向上させる観点から、10g/m2以下が好ましく、8.0g/m2以下がより好ましく、6.0g/m2以下が更に好ましく、4.0g/m2以下がより更に好ましい。該吸水量は、自動走査吸液計(熊谷理機工業株式会社製、KM500win)を用いて、23℃、相対湿度50%の条件下で、純水の接触時間100msにおける転移量を該吸水量として測定することができる。
本発明の水系インクは、普通紙やインクジェット専用紙等の記録媒体に記録するインクジェット記録方法に用いることができるが、耐擦過性に優れる点で、好ましくは低吸水性の記録媒体に記録するインクジェット記録方法に用いることができる。
インクジェット記録装置の水系インク飛翔手段としては、サーマル式又はピエゾ式のインクジェットヘッドを用いてインクを飛翔する方法があるが、本発明においては、ピエゾ式のインクジェットヘッドを用いてインクを飛翔させ印字する方法が好ましい。
低吸水性の記録媒体の純水との接触時間100m秒における吸水量は、印字物の乾燥性を早め、耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、0g/m2以上が好ましく、1.0g/m2以上がより好ましく、2.0g/m2以上が更に好ましく、そして、印字濃度、光沢度を向上させる観点から、10g/m2以下が好ましく、8.0g/m2以下がより好ましく、6.0g/m2以下が更に好ましく、4.0g/m2以下がより更に好ましい。該吸水量は、自動走査吸液計(熊谷理機工業株式会社製、KM500win)を用いて、23℃、相対湿度50%の条件下で、純水の接触時間100msにおける転移量を該吸水量として測定することができる。
低吸水性のインクジェット記録媒体としては、耐擦過性を向上させる観点から、好ましくはコート紙及び合成樹脂フィルム、より好ましくは合成樹脂フィルムが用いられる。
コート紙としては、例えば、「OKトップコートプラス」(王子製紙株式会社製、坪量104.7g/m2、60°光沢度49.0、接触時間100m秒における吸水量(以下の吸水量は同じ)4.9g/m2)、多色フォームグロス紙(王子製紙株式会社製、104.7g/m2、60°光沢度36.8、吸水量5.2g/m2)、UPMFinesse Gloss(UPM社製、115g/m2、60°光沢度27.0、吸水量3.1g/m2)、UPMFinesse Matt(UPM社製、115g/m2、60°光沢度5.6、吸水量4.4g/m2)、TerraPress Silk(Stora Enso社製、80g/m2、60°光沢度6.0、吸水量4.1g/m2)、LumiArt(Stora Enso社製、90g/m2、60°光沢度26.3)等が挙げられる。
合成樹脂フィルムとしては、例えば、ポリエステルフィルム、塩化ビニルフィルム、ポリプロピレンフィルム、ポリエチレンフィルム、ナイロンフィルム等が挙げられる。これらのフィルムは、必要に応じてコロナ処理等の表面処理を行っていてもよい。
一般的に入手できる合成樹脂フィルムとしては、例えば、ルミラーT60(東レ株式会社製、ポリエチレンテレフタレート、厚み125μm、60°光沢度189.1、吸水量2.3g/m2)、PVC80B P(リンテック株式会社製、塩化ビニル、60°光沢度58.8、吸水量1.4g/m2)、カイナスKEE70CA(リンテック株式会社製、ポリエチレン)、ユポSG90 PAT1(リンテック株式会社製、ポリプロピレン)、ボニールRX(興人フィルム&ケミカルズ株式会社製、ナイロン)、テトロンU2(帝人デュポンフィルム株式会社製、白色ポリエステルフィルム)等が挙げられる。

上述した実施形態に関し、本発明はさらに以下の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法、及びその方法により得られた着色微粒子分散体を含有する水系インクを開示する。
<1> 顔料と、重合性モノマーと、重合性界面活性剤と、水とを含む分散体を乳化重合する製造方法であって、下記の工程1~3を有する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
工程1:顔料と、重合性界面活性剤と、水と、有機溶媒とを含む混合液を分散して分散体1を得る工程
工程2:分散体1から有機溶媒を除去して分散体2を得る工程
工程3:分散体2と重合性モノマーを乳化重合し、着色微粒子分散体を得る工程
<1> 顔料と、重合性モノマーと、重合性界面活性剤と、水とを含む分散体を乳化重合する製造方法であって、下記の工程1~3を有する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。

<8> 前記重合性界面活性剤が、エチレン性不飽和単量体と共重合可能であり、分子内にラジカル重合可能な不飽和二重結合を少なくとも1個以上有するアニオン性又はノニオン性の界面活性剤であり、スルホコハク酸エステル系の界面活性剤、アルキルフェノールエーテル系の界面活性剤、及びポリオキシエチレン系の界面活性剤から選ばれる1種以上である、上記<1>~<7>のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。

(1)分散体及び着色微粒子分散体及び水系インク中の分散粒子の平均粒径の測定
大塚電子株式会社のレーザー粒子解析システム「ELS-8000」(キュムラント解析)を用いて測定した。測定条件は、温度25℃、入射光と検出器との角度90°、積算回数100回であり、分散溶媒の屈折率として水の屈折率(1.333)を入力した。測定濃度は、5×10-3質量%(固形分濃度換算)で行った。

(2)分散体及び着色微粒子分散体の固形分濃度の測定
赤外線水分計(株式会社ケツト科学研究所製、商品名:FD-230)を用いて、水性分散液5gを乾燥温度150℃、測定モード96(監視時間2.5分/変動幅0.05%)の条件にて乾燥させ、水性分散液のウェットベースの水分(質量%)を測定した。固形分濃度は下記の式に従って算出した。
固形分濃度(質量%)=100-水性分散液のウェットベース水分(質量%)
赤外線水分計(株式会社ケツト科学研究所製、商品名:FD-230)を用いて、水性分散液5gを乾燥温度150℃、測定モード96(監視時間2.5分/変動幅0.05%)の条件にて乾燥させ、水性分散液のウェットベースの水分(質量%)を測定した。固形分濃度は下記の式に従って算出した。
固形分濃度(質量%)=100-水性分散液のウェットベース水分(質量%)
(3)水系インクの粘度の測定
E型粘度計(東機産業株式会社製、型番:TV-25、標準コーンロータ1°34’×R24使用、回転数50rpm)にて25℃で粘度を測定した。本測定でのデータは後述する保存安定性試験用のデータとして用いた。

(4)水系インクの静的表面張力の測定
20℃に調整したインク5gの入った円柱ポリエチレン製容器(直径3.6cm×深さ1.2cm)に白金プレートを浸漬し、表面張力計(協和界面化学株式会社製、「CBVP-Z」)を用いて、ウィルヘルミ法で水系インクの静的表面張力を測定した。

(5)水系インクのpHの測定
pH電極「6337-10D」(株式会社堀場製作所製)を使用した卓上型pH計「F-71」(株式会社堀場製作所製)を用いて、25℃における水系インクのpHを測定した。

実施例1~6
<乳化重合による着色微粒子分散体の製造>
(顔料分散工程:工程1)
ポリエチレン容器に表1-1「顔料分散体の仕込み」記載の重合性界面活性剤、イオン交換水、メチルエチルケトン、顔料(ピグメントブルー15:3)を添加して、0℃の氷浴で冷却しながら、4000rpm条件下で1時間分散処理を行った。次いで、得られた混合物にイオン交換水90質量部を添加し、マイクロフルイダイザー(Microfluidics社製、商品名、型式:M-110EH-30XP)を用いて150MPaの圧力で15パス分散処理した。得られた分散体に固形分が15質量%になるまでイオン交換水を添加して希釈した。
(有機溶媒除去工程:工程2)
そして、この分散体から、エバポレーターを用いて減圧下にて60℃でメチルエチルケトンを除去し、所定の固形分まで濃縮して顔料分散体(固形分量25%)を得た。得られた分散体2の平均粒径を表1-1に示した。なお、表中の数値は、質量部を示す。以下においても同様である。
<乳化重合による着色微粒子分散体の製造>
(顔料分散工程:工程1)
ポリエチレン容器に表1-1「顔料分散体の仕込み」記載の重合性界面活性剤、イオン交換水、メチルエチルケトン、顔料(ピグメントブルー15:3)を添加して、0℃の氷浴で冷却しながら、4000rpm条件下で1時間分散処理を行った。次いで、得られた混合物にイオン交換水90質量部を添加し、マイクロフルイダイザー(Microfluidics社製、商品名、型式:M-110EH-30XP)を用いて150MPaの圧力で15パス分散処理した。得られた分散体に固形分が15質量%になるまでイオン交換水を添加して希釈した。
(有機溶媒除去工程:工程2)
そして、この分散体から、エバポレーターを用いて減圧下にて60℃でメチルエチルケトンを除去し、所定の固形分まで濃縮して顔料分散体(固形分量25%)を得た。得られた分散体2の平均粒径を表1-1に示した。なお、表中の数値は、質量部を示す。以下においても同様である。
(乳化重合工程:工程3)
ガラス製容器に表1-2「プレエマルション仕込み」記載のビニル系モノマー、過硫酸カリウム、重合性界面活性剤、イオン交換水を添加し、テフロン(登録商標)製撹拌羽を用いて500rpmで30分間撹拌してプレエマルションを得た。
セパラブルフラスコに表1-3「着色微粒子分散体の初期仕込み」記載の顔料分散体、イオン交換水を添加し、250rpmで撹拌しながら湯浴で80℃まで昇温した。80℃到達後、予め作製した表1-2に記載のプレエマルション全量を2時間かけて滴下した。滴下終了後、80℃で4時間熟成して着色微粒子分散体を得た。得られた着色微粒子分散体の物性を表1-3に示す。
ガラス製容器に表1-2「プレエマルション仕込み」記載のビニル系モノマー、過硫酸カリウム、重合性界面活性剤、イオン交換水を添加し、テフロン(登録商標)製撹拌羽を用いて500rpmで30分間撹拌してプレエマルションを得た。
セパラブルフラスコに表1-3「着色微粒子分散体の初期仕込み」記載の顔料分散体、イオン交換水を添加し、250rpmで撹拌しながら湯浴で80℃まで昇温した。80℃到達後、予め作製した表1-2に記載のプレエマルション全量を2時間かけて滴下した。滴下終了後、80℃で4時間熟成して着色微粒子分散体を得た。得られた着色微粒子分散体の物性を表1-3に示す。
実施例7~8
実施例1において、工程1で、メチルエチルケトンの代わりに、アセトン又はイソプロピルアルコールを用いた以外は、実施例1と同様にして、着色微粒子分散体を得た。得られた着色微粒子分散体の物性を表1-3に示す。

比較例1
実施例1において、工程1で、メチルエチルケトンを添加せず得られた顔料分散体の固形分を25質量%とし、工程2を行わなかった以外は、実施例1と同様にして、着色微粒子分散体を得た。得られた着色微粒子分散体の物性を表1-3に示す。
実施例1において、工程1で、メチルエチルケトンを添加せず得られた顔料分散体の固形分を25質量%とし、工程2を行わなかった以外は、実施例1と同様にして、着色微粒子分散体を得た。得られた着色微粒子分散体の物性を表1-3に示す。
表1-3より、メチルエチルケトンを使用せず、工程2(有機溶媒除去工程)を行わなかった比較例1と比較して、実施例1~8は平均粒径の小さな着色微粒子分散体が得られたことが分かる。
なお、実施例1において、工程2(有機溶媒除去工程)を行わなかった以外は、実施例1と同様にして、着色微粒子分散体を製造する場合は、工程3で乳化重合により製造される樹脂の粒子同士が融着し、実施例1~8と比べて平均粒径が大きな着色微粒子分散体が得られる。
なお、実施例1において、工程2(有機溶媒除去工程)を行わなかった以外は、実施例1と同様にして、着色微粒子分散体を製造する場合は、工程3で乳化重合により製造される樹脂の粒子同士が融着し、実施例1~8と比べて平均粒径が大きな着色微粒子分散体が得られる。
なお、表1-1及び1-2で用いた重合性界面活性剤の詳細は下記のとおりである。
化合物a:下記一般式(1)に示される化合物であり、20質量%水溶液を用いた。化合物aの製造方法を下記合成例1に示した。表1-1及び1-2には水溶液の量で記載した。

<合成例1>
攪拌機、温度計、滴下漏斗を備えた反応容器に3-メチル-3-ブテン-1-オール(東京化成株式会社製)310g(3.6モル)を仕込み、窒素雰囲気下10℃に冷却し、三フッ化ホウ素ジエチルエーテル錯体(和光純薬工業株式会社製)10.22g(0.0723モル)を添加し、1,2-エポキシブタン(ブチレンオキシド)1557.94g(21.6モル)を7~10℃で滴下し、滴下後、10℃で、1時間熟成した。吸着剤キョワード500SH(協和化学工業株式会社製)32.0gを添加し、室温で1時間撹拌した後、減圧ろ過し、3-メチル-3-ブテン-1-オールの1,2-エポキシブタン6モル付加体を得た。
オートクレーブに、得られた3-メチル-3-ブテン-1-オールの1,2-エポキシブタン6モル付加体、粉末ナトリウムメトキサイド7.26g(0.134モル)を仕込み、130℃、0.3MPaの条件でエチレンオキサイド2379g(54モル)を付加した。次に、得られた反応混合物の一部84.7g、アミド硫酸9.60gを攪拌機、温度計を備えた反応容器に仕込み、窒素雰囲気下120℃で90分間反応させて硫酸化を行い、未反応のアミド硫酸を加圧ろ過により除去し、イオン交換水で希釈して固形分20質量%に調整し、化合物aの水溶液を得た。
攪拌機、温度計、滴下漏斗を備えた反応容器に3-メチル-3-ブテン-1-オール(東京化成株式会社製)310g(3.6モル)を仕込み、窒素雰囲気下10℃に冷却し、三フッ化ホウ素ジエチルエーテル錯体(和光純薬工業株式会社製)10.22g(0.0723モル)を添加し、1,2-エポキシブタン(ブチレンオキシド)1557.94g(21.6モル)を7~10℃で滴下し、滴下後、10℃で、1時間熟成した。吸着剤キョワード500SH(協和化学工業株式会社製)32.0gを添加し、室温で1時間撹拌した後、減圧ろ過し、3-メチル-3-ブテン-1-オールの1,2-エポキシブタン6モル付加体を得た。

KH-5:アクアロンKH-5(第一工業製薬株式会社製、商品名、固形分100質量%)、下記一般式(2)で表される化合物において、Rが炭素数10のアルキル基及びnが5である化合物と、Rが炭素数12のアルキル基及びnが5である化合物との混合物である。
KH-10:アクアロンKH-10(第一工業製薬株式会社製、商品名、固形分100質量%)、下記一般式(2)で表される化合物において、Rが炭素数10のアルキル基及びnが10である化合物と、Rが炭素数12のアルキル基及びnが10である化合物との混合物である。
KH-10:アクアロンKH-10(第一工業製薬株式会社製、商品名、固形分100質量%)、下記一般式(2)で表される化合物において、Rが炭素数10のアルキル基及びnが10である化合物と、Rが炭素数12のアルキル基及びnが10である化合物との混合物である。
実施例2-1~2-8及び比較例2-1
<印字用インクの調製>
ガラス製容器に表2に記載の着色微粒子分散体、1N水酸化ナトリウム水溶液、イオン交換水を添加し、マグネチックスターラーで10分間撹拌し、混合物Aを得た。
別途、ガラス製容器に表2に記載のプロピレングリコール、ジエチレングリコールモノイソブチルエーテル、ポリエーテル変性シリコーンKF-6011(信越化学工業株式会社製)を添加し、マグネチックスターラーで10分間撹拌し、混合物Bを得た。
混合物Aを撹拌しながら混合物Bを添加し、そのまま1時間撹拌した。その後、5μmのディスポーザルメンブレンフィルター(ザルトリウス社製、ミニザルト)を用いてろ過を行い、評価用水系インクを得た。得られた評価用水系インクの物性を表2に示す。
なお、比較例2-1は、比較例1に示すとおり、工程1でメチルエチルケトンを使用せず、工程2(有機溶媒除去)を行わずに得られた顔料分散体PD-7を用いた例である。
<印字用インクの調製>
ガラス製容器に表2に記載の着色微粒子分散体、1N水酸化ナトリウム水溶液、イオン交換水を添加し、マグネチックスターラーで10分間撹拌し、混合物Aを得た。
別途、ガラス製容器に表2に記載のプロピレングリコール、ジエチレングリコールモノイソブチルエーテル、ポリエーテル変性シリコーンKF-6011(信越化学工業株式会社製)を添加し、マグネチックスターラーで10分間撹拌し、混合物Bを得た。
混合物Aを撹拌しながら混合物Bを添加し、そのまま1時間撹拌した。その後、5μmのディスポーザルメンブレンフィルター(ザルトリウス社製、ミニザルト)を用いてろ過を行い、評価用水系インクを得た。得られた評価用水系インクの物性を表2に示す。
なお、比較例2-1は、比較例1に示すとおり、工程1でメチルエチルケトンを使用せず、工程2(有機溶媒除去)を行わずに得られた顔料分散体PD-7を用いた例である。
また、インクの保存安定性を以下の方法により評価した。結果を表2に示す。
(インクの保存安定性)
調製した水系インクを密閉容器内で、60℃恒温室下で保存試験を行った。3日後、1週間後、2週間後にそれぞれ取り出し、平均粒径を測定することで、初期からの粒径変化性を観察し、下記式により平均粒径変化率を算出(小数点以下は切り捨て)し、以下の評価基準にて保存安定性を評価した。
[評価基準]
平均粒径変化率(%)=[(保存後の平均粒径)/(保存前の平均粒径)]×100
平均粒径変化(%)=〔100-[(保存後の平均粒径)/(保存前の平均粒径)]×100〕
A:60℃、3日後の平均粒径変化の絶対値が10%未満である。
A-:60℃、3日後の平均粒径変化の絶対値が10%以上15%未満である。
B:60℃、3日後の平均粒径変化の絶対値が15%以上20%未満である。
C:60℃、3日後の平均粒径変化の絶対値が20%以上、又はインクが流動性を失い、平均粒径を測定できるレベルではない。
(インクの保存安定性)
調製した水系インクを密閉容器内で、60℃恒温室下で保存試験を行った。3日後、1週間後、2週間後にそれぞれ取り出し、平均粒径を測定することで、初期からの粒径変化性を観察し、下記式により平均粒径変化率を算出(小数点以下は切り捨て)し、以下の評価基準にて保存安定性を評価した。

平均粒径変化率(%)=[(保存後の平均粒径)/(保存前の平均粒径)]×100

A:60℃、3日後の平均粒径変化の絶対値が10%未満である。
A-:60℃、3日後の平均粒径変化の絶対値が10%以上15%未満である。
B:60℃、3日後の平均粒径変化の絶対値が15%以上20%未満である。
C:60℃、3日後の平均粒径変化の絶対値が20%以上、又はインクが流動性を失い、平均粒径を測定できるレベルではない。
次に、調製した評価用インクを用いて下記(1)に示すようにインクジェット印字物を作製し、下記(2)に示す方法で耐擦過性を評価した。また、調製した評価用インクを用いて、下記(3)に示す光沢性を評価した。結果を表2に示す。
(1)インクジェット印字物の作製
ワイヤーバー#8(ウエット膜厚18.3um)を用いて、評価用インクを白色ポリエステルフィルム(テトロンU2、厚み125um、帝人デュポンフィルム株式会社製)上に塗布し、ホットプレート上にて60℃で10分間加熱乾燥を行った。

(2)印字物の耐擦過性の試験
上記印字物についてサザランド型インクラボテスターAB-201(テスター産業株式会社製)に摩擦材としてコットン(BEMCOT M-3、旭化成株式会社製)を用いて、荷重2000gの下、100回(往復)擦過することで、印字物の耐擦過性試験を行った。擦過した印字物について、目視により以下の評価基準にて耐擦過性の評価を行った。
[評価基準]
A:目視で傷が確認できず、大変良好である。
A-:目視で傷が確認できるが、フィルム表面の露出が無く問題とされるレベルではない。
B:目視で傷が確認でき、擦過部位の30%未満のフィルム表面が露出され問題である。
C:擦過部位の30%以上のフィルム表面が露出され問題である。
上記印字物についてサザランド型インクラボテスターAB-201(テスター産業株式会社製)に摩擦材としてコットン(BEMCOT M-3、旭化成株式会社製)を用いて、荷重2000gの下、100回(往復)擦過することで、印字物の耐擦過性試験を行った。擦過した印字物について、目視により以下の評価基準にて耐擦過性の評価を行った。
[評価基準]
A:目視で傷が確認できず、大変良好である。
A-:目視で傷が確認できるが、フィルム表面の露出が無く問題とされるレベルではない。
B:目視で傷が確認でき、擦過部位の30%未満のフィルム表面が露出され問題である。
C:擦過部位の30%以上のフィルム表面が露出され問題である。
(3)光沢性
上記塗布物を60°の光沢度を光沢計(日本電色工業株式会社製、商品名:HANDY GLOSSMETER 、品番:PG-1)で5回測定し、平均値を求めた。数値が大きい方が、光沢性が高い。この際、塗布していない白色ポリエステルフィルム単独の光沢度は54.5であった。
上記塗布物を60°の光沢度を光沢計(日本電色工業株式会社製、商品名:HANDY GLOSSMETER 、品番:PG-1)で5回測定し、平均値を求めた。数値が大きい方が、光沢性が高い。この際、塗布していない白色ポリエステルフィルム単独の光沢度は54.5であった。
実施例2-1~2-8(顔料分散体PD-1~PD-6及びPD-8~PD-9を使用)で得られた水系インクは、比較例2-1(メチルエチルケトンを使用せず、工程2(有機溶媒除去)を行わずに得られた顔料分散体PD-7を使用)で得られた水系インクと比べて耐擦過性及び光沢性で優れていることが分かる。
Claims (16)
- 顔料と、重合性モノマーと、重合性界面活性剤と、水とを含む分散体を乳化重合する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法であって、
下記の工程1~3を有する着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
工程1:顔料と、重合性界面活性剤と、水と、有機溶媒とを含む混合液を分散して分散体1を得る工程
工程2:分散体1から有機溶媒を除去して分散体2を得る工程
工程3:分散体2と重合性モノマーを乳化重合し、着色微粒子分散体を得る工程 - 工程3で重合開始剤を添加して乳化重合をする、請求項1に記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 工程3が、分散体2を含む溶液に、重合性モノマーと界面活性剤と水とを含むエマルションを導入しながら乳化重合を行う操作を有する、請求項1又は2に記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 工程1の終了時点の前記有機溶媒と前記水の重量比(有機溶媒/水)が、0.05以上0.40以下である、請求項1~3のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 前記有機溶媒が、炭素原子数1以上5以下の酸素原子を有する極性溶媒である、請求項1~4のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 工程1における前記重合性界面活性剤の含有量が、顔料に対して、1質量%以上50質量%以下である、請求項1~5のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 顔料が、親水化処理していない顔料である、請求項1~7のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 工程1に高圧分散処理する工程を有する、請求項1~8のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 有機溶媒が、メタノール、エタノール、アセトン、及びメチルエチルケトンから選ばれる1種以上である、請求項1~9のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 工程2において、有機溶媒の除去を分散体1の固形分濃度が、18質量%以上60質量%以下になるまで行う、請求項1~10のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 工程3でさらに界面活性剤を追加する、請求項1~11のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 工程3が、分散体2に疎水性のビニル系モノマーを含む重合性モノマーを混合して乳化重合を行う工程である、請求項1~12のいずれかに記載の着色微粒子分散体の製造方法。
- 着色微粒子の平均粒径が10nm以上300nm以下である、請求項1~13のいずれかに記載の製造方法で得られた着色微粒子分散体。
- 請求項1~13のいずれかに記載の製造方法で得られた着色微粒子分散体と、有機溶媒Bを混合する工程を有する、インクジェット記録用水系インクの製造方法。
- 請求項14に記載の着色微粒子分散体の、インクジェット記録用水系インクの着色材としての使用。
