Abstract

 This spring assembly (20) is provided with: a first retainer member (21) and a second retainer member (22) that are coaxially coupled; and a cylindrical compression coil spring (23) coaxially mounted to the outer periphery of the first retainer member (21) and the second retainer member (22). The spring assembly (20) is arranged, together with a piston (12), inside a cylinder inner hole (11a) provided in a cylinder body (11) of a master cylinder (MC). An inwardly oriented engaging part (21a1) of the first retainer member (21) is configured so as to be in sliding contact with a small diameter portion outer peripheral surface (S2) of the second retainer member (22). An outwardly oriented engaging part (22a1) of the second retainer member (22) is configured so as to be in sliding contact with a cylindrical inner peripheral surface (S1) of the first retainer member (21). Thus, buckling of the compression coil spring can be sufficiently suppressed in the spring assembly.
