Description

Accessory for Label-Applicator,
Enables In-Line Labeling of Whole Storke's Units
Field of the invention and background
The present invention relates to the field of automatic labeling, more specifically the present invention relates to an accessory for automatic labeling applicators that enables to apply labels inline during production onto the whole units of a formed Storke.
Some plastic products - e.g., small containers - are manufactured by thermoforming machine. The thermoforming machine's output is a "Storke". The Storke is a matrix made of columns and rows of product units, formed as a one piece. The Storke is decomposed offline into separate units of the product.
In some product labeling is required and it can be done by automatic label-applicator that uses a roll of adhesive label strip. The label-applicator has an applying-head that applies a label on each product.
All the known label-applicators are designed to apply labels onto products units off-line one by one after the Storke was decomposed. The present invention provides an accessory that can be added to any standard label-applicator. The provided accessory expands the label- applicator capabilities by adding the ability to apply labels inline during production and to apply labels on the whole units of the storke with the capability of accession into the narrow gap, between the products in a Storke, and applies labels on. l Summary of the invention
The present invention is an accessory to be added to a label- applicator, enables to apply labels, inline during production on the whole units of a Storke including on the inner columns of Storke's units. This accessory is comprising of: a L-shaped plate with truncated corner, hanged on two rails in order to adjust its place and the lower edge is used as a label applying-head; two rollers are installed along the upper side of the plate, the first roller for leading a labels- strip down and the second roller for leading the empty strip out; a groove that made in the plate along the truncated corner in order to lead and change direction of the labels-strip, that arrives from the first roller and passes through the groove, from vertical to horizontal continuing to the label applying-head; and using the truncated corner to change direction of the empty strip, that was surrounded and turned back along the applying-head and the labels were released, from horizontal to vertical to be lead out via the second roller. The accessory in narrow and therefore capable to penetrate into the gap between the columns of the Storke.
According to a preferred embodiment, the accessory is provided with two rods installed along the accessory's upper edge with distance from the plate, instead of the rollers, in order to lead the label strip in and the empty strip out.
According to another preferred embodiment the accessory further includes a peeling plate that is installed on the applying-head with a narrow gap - between the peeling plate and the applying-head - enforces the label to be peeled and be applied and enables the empty strip to turn back through the gap.
According to another preferred embodiment the accessory further includes a peeler brush installed on the front of the applying-head in order to brush and push the peeled label on the product.
According to another preferred embodiment the accessory further includes a second groove along the truncate corner, the first groove is leads and changes direction of the labels strip and the second is leads and changes direction of the empty strip.
According to another aspect of the present invention an accessory is provided to be added to a label-applicator and expand the label-applicator capabilities by adding the capability to apply labels - that are provided on a strip by the label-applicator - on the aside Storke's units or in case that the Storke has only one column, wherein the labeling process is done inline during production and conducted by the label-applicator. This accessory is comprised of: a plate, installed with the capability to locate the accessory's place, wherein the front end of the plate is used as a label applying-head; and a peeling-plate that is installed on the applying-head with a narrow gap, between the peeling-plate and the applying-head, the peeling-plate enforce the label to be peeled and applied and enables the empty strip to turn back through the gap. Brief description of the drawings
Various other features and attendant advantages of the present invention will be more fully appreciated from the following detailed description when considered in connection with the accompanying drawings in which like reference characters designate like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and wherein:
Figure 1 illustrates a preferred embodiment of the accessory, according to the present invention.
Figure 2 illustrates the installation of the accessory with a label applicator.
Figure 3 illustrates the usage of the accessory with a Storke. Detailed description of the figures
The present invention is an accessory that can be added to any standard label-applicator. The provided accessory expands the label- applicator capabilities by adding the ability of accession into the narrow gap, between the products in a Storke, and applies labels on the whole products inline during production.
The principles and operation of the accessory according to the present invention may be better understood with reference to the figure and the accompanying description.
Figure 1 illustrates a preferred embodiment of the accessory, according to the present invention. The accessory 100 made of L-shaped plate 10 with two hangers 11 at the upper end of the plate in order to hang the accessory on a rail (figure 2, 21), the accessory capable to move along the rail in order to be located. A strip, with adhesive labels - which is represented by the line 18a - is provided by the label-applicator (figure 3, 20), which conducts the labeling process. The first roller 12 leads the strip down to the groove 13, the strip pass through the groove 13 and its direction is changed from vertical to horizontal and continue to the applying-head 14. The strip surrounds the applying-head 14, the label is peeled and applied to the product. After the label was applied the strip returns via the gap between the applying-head 14 and the peeling plate 14a, the peeler brush 17 brushes the label on the product for better attachment. The empty strip - represented by the line 18b - moves and surrounding the truncated corner 75 (or passes through the second groove, if exist) and changes its direction from horizontal to vertical and continue to be led out by the second roller 16. In is possible to locate a number of label-applicators each with an accessory of the present invention, each one for each column of the Storke and labels are applied on all of the Storke's units inline during production while the Storke is moving out from the thermoforming machine.
Figure 2 illustrates the installation of the accessory with a label- applicator. The accessory 100 is hanged on the rails 21 that are installed on the label-applicator 20. The accessory 100 is capable to move along the rails 21 to a desired location.
Figure 3 illustrates the usage of the accessory with a Storke. The figure illustrates a cross section of a Stroke 30, showing a row of its units and the gap 31 between each column. Rails 21 are installed to the label- applicator 20 on which the accessory 100 is hanged, moves to the desired location and capable to penetrate to the gap 31 between the units and apply labels. A label-applicator 20 with an accessory 100 can be located for each column of the Storke and by this way labels are applied on the whole units while the Storke is moving out from the thermoforming machine.
