Abstract
A drain (1 ), preferably a low profile auxiliary drain, for receiving drainage from at least two sources. The drain (1 ) is provided with at least two separate outlet pipes (5,8) inside the drain pot (2). The at least one outlet pipe (5) is provided with a connecting means (6) for receiving a drainage pipe (10) from above and the other outlet pipe (8) is configured for receiving and draining off water from the area around the drain.
Description
Drain
The present invention relates to a drain, preferably a low profile auxiliary drain, for receiving discharge from at least two sources.
GB 2488773 A discloses a floor drain that can receive drainage from a bathtub as a primary source, but at the same time the drain may receive water from the floor around the bathtub. A base can receive a drain pipe from the bathtub, for example, while at the same time the drain can receive water from the floor, with drainage water from both sources being directed to a common outlet.
EP 2305906 A1 discloses a floor drain that can receive water from two sources. An opening in the drain grating can receive an overhead drain pipe, while at the same time the drain can receive water from the floor. Also, check valves are included for preventing reverse flow of water out from the drain. EP 2083125 A2, EP 2014814 A2, and WO2008/135705 A1 each exhibit exemplary low profile outlets/drains having either a wide outlet pipe or two or more outlet pipes.
An object of the present invention is to provide a low profile drain, preferably an auxiliary drain, which shall be able to receive drainage directly from a bathtub, for example, and at the same time be able to receive water from the floor around the bathtub.
Another object is that equipment such as a bathtub, washstand, and shower cabinet shall be directly connectable to the auxiliary drain without affecting the function of the auxiliary drain.
Still another object is that the low profile auxiliary drain shall be able to take away substantially equal amounts of water as a main drain.
A further object is that the auxiliary drain shall facilitate the modification of shower arrangements, etc. without necessitating drastic changes in the bathroom, for example.
The objects of the present invention are achieved by a drain, preferably a low profile auxiliary drain, for receiving drainage from at least two sources, characterized in that the drain is provided with at least two separate outlet pipes inside the drain pot, of which at least one outlet pipe is provided with a connecting means for receiving a drainage pipe from above and the other outlet pipe is configured for receiving and draining off water from the area around the drain.
Preferred embodiments of the drain are set forth in more detail in claims 2 through 5.

Referring to the drawings, a drain 1 , preferably a low profile auxiliary drain, for receiving drainage from at least two sources is shown. Drain 1 is provided with at least two separate outlet pipes 5, 8 inside the drain pot 2. The drain walls, in the upper section thereof, are provided with a circumferential drain flange 3. A drain grating 4 covers the upper section of the drain inside drain flange 3. Drain grating 4 is provided with openings for the feed-through of one or more drainage pipes 10 from above. The at least one outlet pipe 5 is provided with a connecting means 6 inside drain pot 2 for receiving drainage pipe 10 from above through a bend 1 1 . Drainage pipe 10 may be connected to equipment such as a bathtub, washstand, and shower cabinet. Thus, drainage water from said equipment will be directed directly into outlet pipe 5, and hence have no impact on the capacity of drain 1 to drain off water fed into the drain from the surroundings, for example. Thus, the other outlet pipe 8 will receive and drain off water from the area around drain 1. Consequently, drain 1 will have a large capacity in the same order as a main drain, and will be able to drain off discharge water from at least two separate drainage pipes, at least one of which is directly connected to equipment such as a bathtub, washstand, and shower cabinet.
Connecting means 6 inside drain pot 2 is in the form of a socket connection, whereby drainage pipe 10 is sealingly received within the socket connection. The at least one outlet pipe 5 is in the form of a telescopic pipe adjustable in a longitudinal direction into drain pot 2.
As a result of the drain design, connecting means 6, and the telescopic nature of outlet pipe 5, drain 1 will be very flexible and hence allow various equip-
ment such as a bathtub, washstand, shower cabinet, etc. to be connected to the drain in a simple and aesthetically acceptable manner, thus discharging water from such equipment directly out the drain without affecting the overall capacity of the drain. Also, this solution will facilitate the modification of a shower arrange- 5 ment, for example, without necessitating drastic changes in the bathroom.
Drain 1 includes at least two separate outlet pipes 5, 8 terminating with a socket connection outside of drain pot 2. In this connection, it should be noted that drain 1 may also be provided with more than two separate outlet pipes, e.g. in cases in which it is desirable to connect both a bathtub, washstand, etc. to the i o auxiliary drain without affecting the function and capacity of the auxiliary drain.
The embodiments described above are provided by way of examples, and various other modifications will be apparent to those skilled in the art without departing from the scope of the invention, as defined in the accompanying claims.
Claims
1 . A drain (1 ), preferably a low profile auxiliary drain, for receiving drainage from at least two sources, characterized in that the drain (1 ) is provided with at least two separate outlet pipes (5,8) inside the drain pot (2), of which the at least one outlet pipe (5) is provided with a connecting means (6) for receiving a drainage pipe (10) from above and the other outlet pipe (8) is configured for receiving and draining off water from the area around the drain.
2. The drain (1 ) of claim 1 , characterized in that the connecting means (6) inside the drain pot (2) is in the form of a socket connection, whereby the drainage pipe (10) from above is sealingly received within the socket connection.
3. The drain (1 ) of claim 1 or 2, characterized in that the at least one outlet pipe (5) is in the form of a telescopic pipe adjustable in a longitudinal direction within the drain pot (2).
4. The drain (1 ) of claim 1 , 2, or 3, characterized in that the at least two separate outlet pipes (5,8) terminate in a socket connection outside of the drain pot (2).
5. The drain (1 ) of claim 1 , 2, 3, or 4, characterized in that the drain (1 ) is further provided with a third separate outlet pipe (5) having another connecting means (6) for receiving a another drainage pipe (10) from above.
