Description

FRAME MEMBER FOR WALLS MADE OF FLEXIBLE LAMINAR MATERIAL AND RELATED FURNITURE AND LIGHTING DEVICES
Description
The present invention has as subject a frame member apt to be used to tighten sheets made of flat laminar material, in order to create false walls or furniture members with surfaces determined by said sheets made of flexible laminar material properly kept tightened.
In such frame members enlightening members can also be inserted, such as for example led plates, to create back¬ lighted walls formed by said sheets made of at least partially translucent laminar and flexible material, and then enlightening devices even with complex shape.
The flexible materials which can be used in this type of devices are the most varied ones: by way of example and not with limitative purpose, they include sheets made of polyvinyl chloride with deer, satin, lacquered, translucent, metallised, perforated, moulded finishing and so on, to obtain enlightening, acoustic and graphic effects, ; a sheet with mirror surfaces; single-elastic or bi-elastic Elastam (Lycra® or Spandex®) with finishing such as silk, velvet and so on; thermo-hardening Elastam; tissues made of natural or synthetic fibres; metallic grids; thermo-shrinking sheets, other sheets made of plastic material and all possible combinations between the above-mentioned ones.
Frame systems are known to create artificial walls in case made of back-lightened tissue: they can be provided to create the most different shapes and enlightening systems even with very big sizes, so as to cover entire roofs. However, each system, even if one makes reference to hooking members of standard type, usually are designed and manufactured every time, by producing frame members with wished shapes. This allows obtaining a considerable flexibility in the wall shapes which can be implemented, but each time it requires a phase of planning and a phase of manufacturing tailored members which increase the costs of the end product and limit then the spread of this type of systems.
Some of these systems are known from FR 2, 843, 140 Al, DE 20 2011 052 432 Ul and EP 1,647,646 A2.
The technical problem underlying the present invention is to to provide a frame member allowing to obviate the drawbacks mentioned by referring to the known art.
Such problem is solved by a frame member as specified above, comprising :
• a flat member with indefinite length assuming a shape with a longitudinal development according to right, curve lines, or broken between any respective connecting ends, to other frame members, having adjacent and opposed longitudinal edges; and
• a pair of hooking members projecting at each longitudinal edge, branching therefrom by forming each one an identical predetermined angle with the plane lying therebetween at said flat member in a substantially specular configuration, each hooking member, at its own distal end with respect to the flat member, having a pair of side-by-side and adjacent slots apt to receive the end of a sheet made of flexible laminar material, wherein such frame member has a cross-section with constant profile along said development.
The main advantage of the frame member according to the present invention lies in the fact of allowing assembling different types of frame members having the above-mentioned features, with the possibility of implementing a wide range of shapes starting from an already pre-arranged kit which can be implemented in series without complex planning phases.
The present invention will be hereinafter described according to a preferred embodiment thereof, provided by way of example and not with limitative purpose by referring to the enclosed drawings, wherein:

• figures 10 to 17 illustrate the assembly of different frame members according to the invention and the implementation of even complex shapes;
• figure 18 shows a perspective view of a frame member according to the invention equipped with an enlightening member; and
• figures 19 and 20 illustrate suspension means for assembled frame members according to the invention.
By referring to the figures, a frame member to form furniture and/or enlightening device by using sheets made of flexible laminar material is designated as a whole with 1.
It is substantially constituted, in the easiest form thereof, by an elongated beam extending between opposite connection ends 2, thereat it is possible assembling another complementary frame member 1 (figures 1 and 19) . It comprises a central elongated body implemented by a flat member 3, which, in principle, has an indefinite length and width, in the sense that these parameters can be left to the planning choices upon implementation.
The flat member 3 has a box-like structure being implemented by a parallelepiped with rectangular basis having side walls 4 extending longitudinally and laterally, by giving the frame member 1 a height, and edge walls 5, with lower width than the one of the side walls 4, giving the flat member 3 the thickness thereof. This component of the frame member 1 and those which will be described hereinafter lends itself to be produced easily both by extrusion, in particular made of aluminium or plastic material with high resistance such as for example acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene (ABS), both by moulding, punching, die-casting and possible subsequent welding.
Advantageously, the used material can be or include an electric conductor, to allow the passage of low-voltage current .
The flat member 3 assumes a shape with a longitudinal development which can follow indifferently any right, curve or broken lines. By referring to figure 1, the flat member represented herein has a rectilinear development.
It is to be noted that said edge walls 5 implement, for each flat member 3, adjacent and opposed longitudinal edges.
At each one of said edges, the frame member 1 comprises a pair of projecting hooking members 6.
In particular, said pair of hooking members 6 is a portion of a hooking set juxtaposed to each one of said edge walls 5, fastened to the longitudinal edges 7 of said side walls 4 projecting by a certain tract with respect to the edge walls 5, so as to form a fastening seat for such set.
It comprises a fastening framework 8 formed integrally with the respective edge wall 5, with a box-like shape with a pair of vertical tongues 9 with respect to the wall 5 joined by a first cross panel 10. The upper edges 11 of the vertical tongues 9 and said longitudinal edges 7 determine two pairs, for each set, of staggered edges defining a resting plane staggered by an angle of 45° with respect to the longitudinal symmetry plane and directed outwards. To each one of said pairs of edges 7, 11 a respective projecting hooking member 6 is connected, formed by a box¬ like structure too, comprising three tilted tongues 12 parallel therebetween: two side tongues and one central tongue which at the distal ends thereof 13 define a pair of side-by-side and continuous slots 14, apt to receive the end of a sheet of flexible laminar material. To this purpose, the central distal end 13 has a locking thickening.
Each projecting member 6 further comprises a pair of second cross panels 15 and 16, so as to give the tilted tongues 12 a suitable structural stiffness. It is to be noted that said projecting hooking members 6 branch from the respective longitudinal edge by forming each one an identical predetermined angle with the longitudinal symmetry plane lying therebetween at said flat member, in the present example equal to 45°, in a substantially specular configuration.
At last, it is to be noted that the herein described frame member has a cross section, with a shape substantially like a double Y, with constant profile along the development of the member 1 itself, whatever its shape is. By referring to figure 3, a frame member 1 has a bent development: the flat member 3 is folded with a constant radius of curvature so that the side walls 4 thereof are the intrados and the extrados of the frame member 1, respectively . However, each cross section remains equal along the development and it is equal, the cross sizes of the flat member 3 and of the hooking sets being equal, to those of the frame member of figure 1.
The same thing is valid for the frame member 1 of figure 4, which has a bent development too, but here the flat member 3 is bent with a constant radius of curvature so that its edge walls 5 are the intrados and the extrados of the frame member 1, respectively. It is to be noted that, differently from the previous versions, the edges of this member have different lengths, but they remain parallel along the whole development of the member, therefore each cross section remains equal along the development and it is equal, the cross sizes of the flat member 3 and of the hooking sets being equal, to those of the frame member of figure 1 and 3.
By referring to figure 5, the here represented frame member 5 follows a line broken by an angle of 90°, with the flat member 3 lying on a plane. It is meant that even for this profile the same considerations made in relation to the constancy of its cross section are valid.
The same can be said for the frame members 1 of figure 6, wherein again the development follows a line broken by an angle of 90°, but here the flat member 3 is folded by 90°, whereas the longitudinal edges are specular.
It is to be noted that the frame members 5 and 6 can be used as connecting members between other frame members 1, for example with the shape represented in figures 1, 3 and 4.
At last, in figure 7 a frame member 1 is represented with a development reduced to a line closed on itself, thus assuming the shape of half square.
The connection between frame members 1 can be guaranteed by suitable connecting plugs which are inserted at said fastening sets, in particular in the seats formed by the first and second cross panels 10, 15, 16, by the tilted tongues 12 and by the vertical tongues 9.
Purely by way of example, said plugs can have projecting pins which insert in said seats with a forced-fixing relation, and can be made of a plastic material with a certain elasticity. Furthermore, they can include foils made of conducting material crossing them and which are destined to come in contact with the frame member 1, to guarantee the electric continuity among the several assembled members.
By referring to figure 8, all possible schemes for assembling sheets of flexible laminar material are represented: tightened between the ends of the projecting members 6.
Among the several materials to be considered, by pure way of example and not with limitative purpose, sheets of polyvinyl chloride with deer, satin, lacquered, translucent, metallised, perforated, moulded, and so on finishing, to obtain enlightening, acoustic and graphic effects, ; a sheet with mirror surfaces; single-elastic or bi-elastic Elastam (Lycra® or Spandex®) with finishing such as silk, velvet and so on; thermo-hardening Elastam; tissues made of natural or synthetic fibres; metallic grids; thermo-shrinking sheets; and other sheets made of plastic material and all possible combinations between the above-mentioned ones.
The performances requested by such materials can be the most varied ones: dimmed lighting, acoustic control (elimination of echoes) and still others.
By referring to figure 9, it can be observed in which way such sheets can be assembled when different frame members form a complex shape: with outer sheets 31, inner sheets 32, edge sheets 33.
By referring to figures 10 to 17, all possible assemblies between frame members having compatible cross sizes, which could constitute a standard inside an assembly kit, are illustrated .
The assembly of figure 10 is obtained with frame members 1 of figure 1; the assembly of figure 11 is obtained with frame members 1 of figure 3; the assembly of figure 12 is obtained with frame members 1 of figure 4; the assembly of figure 13 is obtained with frame members 1 of figure 5; the assembly of figure 14 is obtained with frame members 1 of figure 6; and the assembly of figure 15 is obtained with frame members 1 of figure 7. It is to be noted then that the assemblies of figures 16 and 17 are formed with frame members 1 different therebetween, and it can easily imagine that shapes much more complex than this one can be formed, without substantial limits to the obtainable sizes and configurations.
By referring to figure 18, a frame member 1 is illustrated comprising a LED strip 41 inserted on a free wall thereof constituting a connection seat, in particular between the upper edges 11 therebetween a resting panel 17 is inserted, which constitutes a slide for inserting the plate 41 which is powered by the previously described conductive foils 24.
By referring instead to figures 19 and 20, a cramp-like member 51 is shown to hang the frame members 1 to any support, for example a roof.
The cramp-like member is constituted by a metallic bar folded according to a substantially hexagonal or omega-like profile, with two opposite ends apt to be hooked to source members 6 of the frame member, both above an edge wall 5 (figure 19) and above a side wall 4 (figure 20) of the frame member 1.
To the above-described frame members a person skilled in the art, in order to satisfy additional and contingent needs, can introduce additional modifications and variants, all however within the protective scope of the present invention, as defined by the enclosed claims.
