Description

"Lighting apparatus with facilitated disassembly"
DESCRIPTION
[0001] The present invention relates to the technical field of lighting devices and more in particular relates to an urban or street lighting apparatus as defined in the preamble of claim 1.
[0002] In the field of public and street lighting, lighting appliances using semi-conductor light sources such as LEDs (Light Emitting Diodes) are becoming increasingly well established.
[0003] The use of LEDs makes it possible to produce lighting appliances characterised by a greater flexibility of use, greater energy efficiency and greater modularity.
[0004] The lighting appliances comprising LEDs generally comprise a plurality of LEDs, provided with relative optics and reflectors, suitable dissipators associated to said LEDs and appropriate power supply means suitable for providing the power supply current needed to said plurality of LEDs.
[0005] The appliances using semi-conductor light sources have a more complex internal structure than the corresponding appliances using traditional light sources. The use of semi-conductor light sources and corresponding power supply systems permits a high degree of miniaturisation which is reflected in construction solutions of much smaller dimensions compared to the past .
[0006] The small size of the LED lighting appliances entail obvious optimisation requirements of the inner spaces which must house the necessary components, to ensure the necessary dissipation of the heat generated by electronic devices during operation and to leave the necessary space to perform maintenance and repairs.
[0007] In essence, the inner spaces of the aforesaid LED lighting appliances comprising electronic devices, must not only be such as to effectively house the electronic components required but must also be organised in an easily accessible manner to facilitate any maintenance on site, something which is particularly important in the case of public or street lighting appliances, usually situated in positions hard to reach for maintenance technicians, who are often forced to work in awkward positions at relatively high heights.
The patent application published as number WO 2013/111171 on behalf of the Applicant, describes an apparatus for street lighting comprising a chassis including a base comprising a housing compartment and a cover to which a plurality of LEDs is associated. The base and the cover of such a lighting apparatus are connected together by means of hinge elements which comprise a pair of hinges of the type with removable pin. The lighting apparatus described in such patent application permits particularly easy on-site maintenance. Moreover, thanks to the fact of providing the hinge with removable pin, this apparatus makes it possible to uncouple the cover, and thus the optics of the apparatus, from the base, relatively easily. This may be required, by way of a non-limiting example in the case in which the optics of the lighting apparatus need to be replaced due to a fault, in the case of a resizing of the LED arrays, or in the case of loss of efficiency of the LEDs by obsolescence.
The uncoupling operation of the base from the cover can be further improved compared to the solution of the prior art discussed above.
[0008] One purpose of the present disclosure is to make available an urban or street lighting apparatus which makes it possible to disengage the base and the cover with the relative optics in a particularly easy manner compared to the solution of the prior art discussed above.
[0009] A further purpose of the present disclosure, in addition or alternatively to the aforementioned purpose, is to make available an urban or street lighting apparatus which makes it possible to disengage the base and the cover with the relative optics in a particularly easy manner, limiting or avoiding possible damage to the optics .
[0010] A further purpose of the present description, in addition or alternatively to the aforementioned purposes, is to make available an urban or street lighting apparatus which makes it possible to disengage the base and the cover with the relative optics in a particularly easy manner, limiting or avoiding possible risks to the safety of the operator.
[0011] These and other purposes are achieved by an urban or street lighting apparatus as defined in claim 1 in its most general form, and in the dependent claims in some particular embodiments.
[0012] The invention will be more clearly comprehensible from the detailed description below of its embodiments, made by way of a non-limiting example with reference to the appended drawings, wherein:

[0013] In the appended drawings, the same or similar elements are denoted using the same reference numerals.
[0014] It is also to be noted that the terms "upper", "lower", "high" and "low", used in the description below to describe the operation and/or a part of an urban or street lighting apparatus, will be understood as referring to such lighting apparatus installed in a respective normal operating condition.
[0015] Figure 1 shows an urban or street lighting apparatus globally denoted by reference numeral 1. As described in greater detail below, according to a preferred embodiment, the apparatus 1 is an LED (Light Emitting Diode) urban street lighting apparatus.
[0016] The lighting apparatus 1 comprises a lamp body 2, or chassis 2. The chassis 2 comprises a base 3, a cover 4 and hinge elements 5, 6 (Fig. 3 and Fig. 5) provided to connect the base and the cover to each other. Preferably, the base 3 has a generally box-shaped conformation, such as a generally tray shaped conformation, for example a generally quadrangular tray shaped conformation. Preferably, the cover 4 has a substantially plate-shaped conformation. According to a preferred embodiment, the base and the cover are made of metal and more preferably made of aluminium alloy. According to a preferred embodiment, the lighting apparatus 1 further comprises reversible coupling elements 7, such as a coupling member 7 attached to the chassis 2, provided to couple the apparatus 1 for example to a support post 8 in a detachable manner.
[0017] With reference to Fig. 3, the base 3 of the chassis comprises a housing compartment 9. The cover 4 comprises a cover part 10 and an optical part 11. The cover part 10 closes the housing compartment 9 when the cover assumes a respective closed configuration. Conversely, when the cover assumes a respective open configuration, the cover part 10 is positioned so as to expose the housing compartment 9 to allow access to said housing compartment. The above closed configuration of the cover, in which the cover 4 preferably assumes a horizontal or substantially horizontal position, is shown for example in Figures 1 and 2. To such purpose it is to be noted that given that LED urban or street lighting apparatuses are generally exposed to atmospheric agents, in the example in the closed configuration of the cover 4, the housing compartment 9 is closed in a watertight manner so as to protect the LED devices and/or the relative electronic control circuit which will be described in more detail below. The aforesaid open configuration of the cover, in which the cover preferably assumes a vertical or substantially vertical configuration, is shown for example in Fig. 3 . In practice, in the open configuration, the cover is rotated by an angle of 90°, or an angle of about 90°, from the closed configuration. To such purpose it is to be noted that according to a preferred embodiment, the cover is designed in such a way that the open configuration is a configuration of stable equilibrium of the cover. In other words, rotating the cover around in the open configuration, the cover will tend spontaneously, as a result of its own weight, to assume the open configuration.
[0018] Returning to Fig. 1 , at least one light source 12 and preferably respective reflection and/or refraction elements is associated to the optical part 11 , which is preferably an extension of the cover part 10 . According to a preferred embodiment, the cover comprises a plurality of LED devices (Light Emitting Diode) 12 or LEDs 12 . In general, the optical part 11 comprises the optics of the lighting apparatus 1 . According to a preferred embodiment, such optics comprise a thermally conductive dielectric attached to the cover, an LED module or LED plate comprising a plurality of LED devices 12 and reflection and/or refraction element such as a lens and a protective screen preferably made from a glass plate. It is to be noted however that a lighting apparatus according to the teachings of the present description may comprise in general one or more light sources 12 which may be point light sources, such as LEDs 12, but also any other type of light sources adapted for use in an urban or street lighting apparatus.
[0019] With cross-reference to the Figure 3 and Fig. 5, according to a preferred embodiment, the hinge elements 5, 6 comprise a pair of hinge hooks 5 and a pair of hinge pins 6. The hinge pins 6 are adapted to act in conjunction with the hooks 5 to hinge the base and the cover to each other. According to a preferred embodiment the cover 4 comprises a pair of through openings 60 (Fig. 2 and Fig. 5) and the hinge pins 6 each extend into a respective through opening 60, or are each facing a respective through opening 60. Preferably, the hinge elements 5, 6 are operatively positioned between the cover part 10 and the optical part 11 of the cover 4. From another point of view, preferably, the hinge elements 5, 6 are operatively positioned between the housing compartment 9 and the optical part 11 of the cover. When the base and cover are coupled to each other, the pins 6 are detachably each coupled to a respective hook 5. According to a preferred embodiment, the hooks 5 and the pins 6 are respectively integral with the base 3 and the cover 4. More in particular, in the example the hooks 5 are made in one piece with the base 3 while the pins 6 are made in one piece with the cover 4. In this regard it is to be noted that the fact of providing hinge hooks and hinge pins integral with the base and with the cover advantageously makes it possible to uncouple the cover from the base without requiring tools and without the need to remove the hinge elements, such as for example a pin of the removable type from a respective hinge hole, which may get lost or slip from the operator's hand during the dismantling of the apparatus 1. Furthermore, this conveniently makes it possible to maintain a secure grip of the cover with both hands during the dismantling/assembly of the apparatus 1.
[0020] According to a convenient embodiment, the hooks 5 and the pins 6 are configured in such a way as to allow them to uncouple the cover and the base from each other only when the cover assumes a predetermined angular' position (Fig. 4) in relation to the closed configuration. This conveniently makes it possible to avoid or limit the possibility of accidental uncoupling of the cover from the base during handling of the cover.
[0021] According to a preferred embodiment, in the aforesaid predetermined angular position (Fig. 4) the cover is rotated in general by an angle of more than 90° from the closed configuration, and more preferably is rotated by an angle of more than 100° from the closed configuration. In particular, in the example of Fig. 4, in which the cover assumes such a predetermined angular position, the cover is rotated by an angle of 130°, or about 130°, from the closed configuration.
[0022] It is to be noted that according to an advantageous embodiment, the lighting apparatus 1 comprises end stop elements 13 (Fig. 6) provided to stop the rotation of the cover upon attainment of the aforesaid predetermined angular position. This conveniently makes it possible to position the cover in the appropriate position to be able to uncouple it from the base in a particularly simple and rapid manner. Moreover, the end stop elements 13 conveniently make it possible to prevent the optical part 11 of the cover from colliding with the base 3 thereby avoiding possible damage to the LEDs 12 and/or to other optical components of the apparatus 1. In particular, with reference to Fig. 6, this figure shows an enlarged detail of the apparatus 1 in cross-section orthogonal to the axis of rotation of the hinge elements 5, 6, namely the axis of rotation of the cover 4. In particular Fig. 6 shows one of the hooks 5, the associated pin 6 and a portion of the cover 4 when the cover assumes the predetermined angular position of Fig. 4. As may be seen in figure 6, according to a preferred embodiment, the end stop elements 13 comprise an abutment wall 13 of the through openings 60 which is such as to abut with a respective hook 5 when the cover assumes the aforesaid predetermined angular position.
[0023] Again with reference to Fig. 6, according to a convenient embodiment, each of the pins 6 has a profile in cross-section which corresponds to the profile of a circular segment defined by an arc of circumference 14 and by a chord 15, or secant 15 or segment 15. Furthermore, each of the hooks 5 is adapted to define a rotation seat 16 of the respective pin 6. The rotation seat 16, the cross-section view of which is preferably counter-shaped to the arc of circumference 14, is provided with an exit way 17 designed to be crossed by the pin 6 to enable the uncoupling of the cover 4 from the base 3. In particular, the exit way 17, seen in cross-section, has a dimension Dl which is less than the diameter of the circumference which the arc 14 is part of (i.e. the virtual circumference formed by the arc 14 and by an arc of circumference complementary to the arc 14) and greater than the maximum distance D2, in a direction orthogonal to the chord 15, between the chord 15 and a point of the arc 14. Preferably each hook 5 further defines an extraction channel 18 connected to and communicating with the rotation seat 16. The extraction channel 18, preferably comprises a pair of flat and parallel guide walls 19, 20 adapted to guide the movement of the pin 6 when the latter must be uncoupled from the hook 5. In particular, when the pin 6 is extracted from the respective channel 18, the chord 15 runs parallel to the guide walls 19, 20.
[0024] With reference now to Fig. 8, this figure schematically represents a circuit diagram representative of some electrical connections of the lighting apparatus 1. In particular, with cross reference to Fig. 3 and Fig. 8, according to a preferred embodiment the lighting apparatus 1 comprises an electronic control circuit 30 to control the light sources 12. Preferably, the electronic control circuit 30 comprises one or more power supply and/or control devices 31, 32, 33 of the light sources 12 housed in the housing compartment 9. According to a preferred embodiment the control circuit 30 comprises for example a power supply device 31, an electrical protection device 32 and a remote control device 33. The electronic control circuit 30 is operatively connected or connectable to an electricity supply grid 34 via a first connection line 35. The electricity supply grid 34 is preferably a low-voltage electricity supply grid 34, such as an electricity supply grid adapted to provide a power supply voltage of about 230V. Furthermore, the electronic control circuit 30 is operatively connected or connectable to the light sources 12 via a second connection line 36.
[0025] According to a convenient embodiment, the lighting apparatus 1 comprises a sectioning device 37, 38 (Fig. 3) adapted to establish the opening and closing of the first and second connection lines (35, 36) depending on the position of the cover 4. This advantageously makes it possible to establish the opening or closing of both connection lines 35, 36 without the need to use tools, as is required for example in some solutions of the prior art in which to perform such opening/closing operations it is necessary to use tools to connect/disconnect the electrical wires connecting the electronic control circuit housed in the base with the light sources associated with the cover of the lighting apparatus and with the electricity supply grid.
[0026] According to a preferred embodiment, the sectioning device 37, 38 is a four-pole sectioning device. More preferably, with reference to Fig. 3, the sectioning device 37, 38 is a sectioning device comprising a male connector 37 provided on the cover 4 and a female connector 38 provided in the base 3. According to a preferred embodiment, the sectioning device 37, 38 is a sectioning device of the bayonet. type, in which the male connector 37 is provided with four contact pins 39, 40, or four contact plates 39, 40 (the contact pins 39, 40 are shown schematically in Fig. 8) which are adapted to engage respective contact recesses 41, 42 of the female connector 38. In particular, the two pins 39 are adapted to determine the closing or opening of the first connection line 35 while the two pins 40 are suitable to determine the closing or opening of the second connection line 36. In such regard, it is to be noted that according to a convenient embodiment adapted to ensure greater safety for the operator, for example during maintenance operations of the apparatus 1, the contact pins 39 are shorter than the contact pins 40. This advantageously ensures both that the opening of the connection line 35 connected to the electricity supply grid 34 occurs before the opening of the connection line 36 during the opening of the cover 4 and that the closing of the connection line 35 connected to the electricity supply grid 34 take place after the closing of the connection line 36 during the closing of the cover 4.
[0027] Referring now to Fig. 2 and Fig. 7, according to a preferred embodiment the chassis 2 of the lighting apparatus comprises manually operable quick fit blocking elements 50 for reversibly blocking the base 3 and the cover 4 to each other when the cover assumes the closed configuration. According to a preferred embodiment, the blocking elements 50 comprise a pair of blocking tongues 51 and respective connection clips 52 by means of which the blocking tongues 51 are constrained to the chassis 2 in an articulated manner. In particular, with reference to Fig. 7, in which one of the tabs 51 is shown, according to a preferred embodiment, each tongue 51 comprises a blocking hook 53 which is adapted to couple to a respective blocking edge 54 of the cover 4 when the tongue 51 assumes a respective locking configuration (Fig. 2) in which the locking elements 50 lock the base and the cover to each other. Moreover, each locking tongue 51 is hinged to a respective connection clip 52 which is in turn hinged to the base 3. In practice, when each locking tongue 51 assumes the respective locking configuration, the hook 53 engages the edge 54 and the connection clip 52 is elastically loaded so as to exert a force on the tongue 51 which makes it possible to keep the tongue 51 blocked to the chassis 2. Starting from such locking configuration of the tongues 51, to unlock the base and the cover from each other it is sufficient to loosen each tongue 51 for example by inserting a finger in an appropriate release recess (not shown) provided on the lower side of the base 3 and by levering the tongue 51. Once the tabs 51 have been loosened, the clips 52 are elastically relaxed and the hooks 53 still engage the respective edges 54. At this point, to unlock the base and the cover from each other it is sufficient to disengage the hooks 53 from the respective edges 54 and rotate the tongues outwards so as to move the hooks 53 away from the chassis 2.
[0028] It is evident that numerous modifications and/or variations may be made to the above description illustrated by way of example.
[0029] For example, it is to be noted that in general it is not strictly necessary to provide a pair of hinge hooks and a pair of pins respectively provided on the base and on the cover. In general, it is sufficient that the hinge elements 5, 6 comprise at least one hinge hook provided optionally either on the base or the cover and at least one hinge pin provided on the other between the base and the cover, wherein the aforesaid at least one hinge pin is adapted to be detachably coupled to said at least one hinge hook.
[0030] According to an alternative less preferred embodiment inasmuch as relatively less reliable and/or relatively more complicated to implement than the solution in which the hooks 5 and the pins 6 are made in one piece with the base and the cover, the hooks 5 and pins 6 may be made integral with the base or the cover, by attaching them to the base or the cover by means of suitable attachment elements.
[0031] Having described the structure of the apparatus 1, an example of a method of uncoupling the cover 4 from the base 3 with reference to the embodiment illustrated in the appended drawings is described below.
[0032] Consider first the lighting apparatus 1 with the cover 4 in the closed configuration and the locking tongues 51 in the locking configuration. From this configuration, the cover and the base can be released by acting on the tongues 51 as described above. Once the hooks 53 of the locking tongues have been disengaged from the respective locking edges 54, the cover can be manually rotated, for example until the cover assumes the open configuration in which it is rotated by an angle of about 90° from the closed configuration (Fig. 3) . During such rotation of the cover, the male connector 37 of the sectioning device 37, 38 is disengaged from the female connector 38 thus opening the connection lines 35, 36. In the configuration of Fig. 3 it is possible to access the housing compartment 9 from above and easily carry out maintenance operations of the apparatus 1, such as for example maintenance operations of the electronic control circuit 30. To uncouple the cover 4 from the base 3, starting from the configuration of Fig. 3 it is necessary to rotate the cover further until the abutment walls 13 of the through-openings 60 abut against the hinge hooks 5 so that the cover assumes the aforesaid predetermined angular position (Fig. 4) . Starting from such configuration to uncouple the cover from the base the cover must be initially moved upwards in a direction inclined to the horizontal direction making the hinge pins 6 slide through the respective extraction channels 18. Subsequently, the cover must be translated vertically upwards so as to extract the pins 6 from the hooks 5. At this point the cover and the base are uncoupled from each other as shown for example in Fig. 5. Starting from the latter configuration, repeating in reverse the uncoupling operations of the cover from the base described above, it is possible to couple and block the base and the cover to each other again and at the same time establish the closing of the connection lines 35, 36 using the sectioning device 37, 38.
[0033] On the basis of the above description it is thus possible to see how an or urban or street lighting apparatus of the type described above makes it possible to achieve the aforementioned purposes with reference to the state of the prior art.
[ 0034] In particular, it is to be noted that thanks to the provision in an urban or street lighting apparatus according to the present description, of the hinge elements comprising at least one hinge pin and at least one hinge hook, it is possible to dismantle the cover from the base in a particularly simple and rapid manner by simply uncoupling the hinge pin from the respective hinge hook without the need to use tools, and at the same time being able to grasp the cover firmly with both hands.
[0035] Without prejudice to the principle of the invention, the embodiments and details of construction may be widely varied in relation to the description and illustrated purely by way of non-limiting example, without thereby departing from the invention as defined in the appended claims.
