Description

AN ICE DISPENSING UNIT SUITABLE TO BE PLACED INTO A COOLING DEVICE
The present invention relates to an ice dispensing unit that is suitable to be placed inside a cooling device.
In some of the state of the art cooling devices, the ice dispensing units used for making ice cubes, cannot be carried out of the cooling device, the ice cubes that are released from the ice dispensing unit generally by twisting are collected in a receptacle also inside the cooling device and from there are transferred to a service container for serving. However, the ice cubes transferred from the ice dispensing unit to the receptacle and from the receptacle to the service container are meanwhile subjected to deformation. Furthermore, in order to serve the ice cubes in the service containers, service elements such as spoon, a pair of tongs etc. are needed.
In the state of the art United States Patent Document No. US3306567, an ice serving unit is explained, which enables ice cubes in the desired number to be taken out of the cooling device without requiring the ice cubes to be transferred to the service container.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of an ice dispensing unit that enables ice cubes to be formed and to be served easily by being placed into the cooling device.
The portable ice dispensing unit suitable to be placed into the cooling device, realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises an ice cube tray having more than one cell, an inner body wherein the ice cube tray is disposed and that encloses the ice cube tray, an outer body fitted over the inner body like a sheath and wherein the inner body stays, and an orifice disposed on the inner body or the ice cube tray by means of which the processes of filling water into the ice cube tray or taking ice cubes from the ice cube tray are performed.
The ice dispensing unit of the present invention comprises more than one pusher that forms a protrusion from the outer body towards the inner body during ice cube taking process and that is positioned so as to be aligned behind the cells by changing place on its horizontal axis when the outer body is rotated around the inner body. The ice cube in the cell is enabled to be displaced and to fall into the orifice with the effect of the force exerted on the cell by the pusher that rotates together with the outer body.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice dispensing unit is changed, by being rotated almost 90 degrees, from the first position, wherein it is placed parallel to the cooling device shelf and the processes of adding water and forming ice cubes are performed, to the second position wherein the process of dispensing ice cubes is performed. The ice dispensing unit can be easily placed on objects like the table or the counter when changed to the second position. Thus, access to the ice dispensing unit becomes easy during the process of taking ice cubes.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the outer body performs its half-circular rotation around the vertical axis passing almost through the center of the inner body in more than one turn. Each turn brings the pushers positioned at different angles from one another, to the level of the cells that are at different elevations in the vertical plane. By means of the movement the outer body performs around the inner body, the pusher is enabled to contact a certain number of cells. Consequently, it is prevented to transfer ice cubes in more than the desired number out of the ice dispensing unit. In this embodiment, the area scanned by the outer body around the inner body determines the number of ice cubes to be released.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the rotation angle corresponding to the number of ice cubes to be received is marked on the outer body so that the user can see.
In a derivative of this embodiment, the pushers are roll-shaped and thus the area the pushers contact on the surface of the cells is increased.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice dispensing unit comprises a pin that is disposed on the inner body and that enables the outer body to rotate and a pin housing that is arranged on the outer body and wherein the pin is fitted.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the cell is produced from elastic material. Thus, the force the pusher exerts on the cell is transmitted onto the ice cube without loss and the ice cube is easily separated from the ice cube tray.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice dispensing unit comprises a handle that extends outwards from the outer body and that has consecutive recesses and protrusions so that the outer body can be clasped easily and does not slip from the hand while being rotated.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice dispensing unit comprises a claw that is arranged on the inner body and that enables the inner body and the outer body to be grouped and a claw housing that is disposed on the outer body and against which the claw bears. Thus, the inner body is mounted into the outer body.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the ice dispensing unit comprises a protrusion that extends outwards from the outer body and that facilitates the placement of the ice dispensing unit into the cooling device rigidly by resting against the cooling device shelf.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the outer body is cylinder-shaped and thus the rotational movement around the fixed inner body becomes easy.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the outer body is transparent. Thus, whether or not the ice making process is completed can be controlled.
By means of the present invention, the ice cubes formed inside the ice dispensing unit can be served without the need of external service elements by taking the ice dispensing unit out of the cooling device, the desired number of ice cubes can be taken and customer satisfaction is increased.
