Description
The present invention relates to a household appliance comprising a display holder located in the control panel thereof.
When a program/function is selected via the keys located on the control panels of the household appliances, in order for the selected program/function to be discerned by the user there are provided light sources, for example LED lights, disposed on the printed circuit board behind the panel, light guides that guide the light and windows that transmit light and positioned on the panel to be aligned with the light sources. When a program/function is selected, the respective light source situated on the printed circuit board becomes active and the key related to the selected program is illuminated. The light of an illuminated light source can leak into the adjacent windows due to the deflective effect of the light guides. Illumination of the key/keys adjacent to the key related to the selected program misguides the user and arouses the feeling that more than one program is selected. In the state of the art, this problem can be solved by means of opaque elements that prevent light from infiltrating to the adjacent windows around the light of the respective light source. However, using additional elements not only increases costs but also results in workforce loss during assembly.
In the Patent Application No. WO2011144484, a washing machine is disclosed, wherein the loopholes between the light guides are filled for preventing light from leaking out.
In the Patent Application No. CN101397747, a washing machine is disclosed, wherein the problem of the light leaking to the adjacent windows on the panel is solved.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of a household appliance wherein the problem of light leaking between the keys on the control panel is solved without using additional elements.
The household appliance realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises at least one light barrier that extends from at least one side of the display holder, enabling the display to be fixed to the control panel, and that is vertical to the said side.
In the household appliance of the present invention, the light barriers vertical to the sides of the display holder extend in between the light sources disposed around the display holder. The light barriers that extend from the sides of the display holder separate the light sources from each other and prevent light from leaking to the other windows.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the household appliance comprises light guides that are disposed between the windows enabling the keys to be illuminated by the light sources and that enable the entire window to be illuminated equally by spreading the light while being delivered to the window. The light barrier prevents the light from spreading sideways by separating the light guides from each other.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the light barriers that prevent light from leaking to the adjacent windows are high enough to reach the panel from the surface of the printed circuit board. Thus, the light sources and the light guides are entirely separated from one another and the light is enabled to only move in the desired direction.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the light barriers are produced in the same mold with the display holder as a single piece. By means of producing the light barriers with the display holder as a single piece, the display holder attains a new function other than the grouping of the display. The light barriers produced with the display holder in the same mold both provide cost advantage and also ease of assembly.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the printed circuit board is manufactured such that there is at least one light source between two light barriers. The light barriers can be designed to have more than one light source therebetween for various purposes and requirements. For example, for a function that needs to be illuminated gradually, five light sources are used side by side and since more than one light source provides high intensity light, leaking of light to the adjacent windows becomes probable. In this situation, the five light sources can be separated from the other light sources by two light barriers.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the light barriers are manufactured from opaque material. Thus, even though the light barriers are produced to be thin, leakage of light is almost entirely prevented since they do not transmit light. By means of the light barriers being thin, the light sources are positioned to be close to one another, thus saving from the area that is used.
The household appliance of the present invention can be a washing machine, a laundry washing and drying machine, a drying machine, a dishwasher, a cooking device or a refrigerator in different embodiments of the present invention. For example in the refrigerator, in the case the user activates the freezing compartment, she/he will not think that the fresh food compartment is also activated by means of the light barriers of the present invention.
In the household appliance of the present invention, the light leakage problem is solved in a simple way, without requiring to use additional elements by producing the light barrier as a single piece together with the display holder and thereby the display holder gaining an additional function. The user will not think that more than one function is selected even in low light, for example in the dark, by means of the light barriers entirely closing the distance between the printed circuit board and the panel. The light barriers can be thinner by producing the light barriers from opaque material, and thereby more light sources can be used in a smaller area.
