Abstract

These enzymes are useful for the production of Cellulosic Ethanol for biofuels. Some aspects of the present invention provide for ancestral fungal cellulases. Cellulase enzymes are useful for the production of cellulosic ethanol for biofuels. In some embodiments, ancestral cellulases can be used for the hydrolysis of carbohydrate polymers that comprise cellulose. Some aspects of the present invention provide for microorganisms that express an ancestral cellulase. Microorganisms are useful for the production of cellulosic ethanol for biofuels. In some embodiments, microorganisms can be used for the hydrolysis and/or fermentation of cellulose. In another aspect, the present invention provides for an isolated polypeptide comprising about 90% identity to amino acid sequences.
