Abstract

 物質特定装置(122)は、プラズマの複数の温度における指標スペクトルと、プラズマに対する空気の複数の混合比におけるHとOのピーク比と、複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、組成比、またはスペクトル形状と物質とを対応付けた物質特定情報と、を予め保持する保持部(130)と、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって試料(102)をプラズマ化して物質スペクトルを導出するスペクトル導出部(144)と、物質スペクトルと指標スペクトルとを比較して試料のプラズマの温度を特定する温度特定部(146)と、物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比に基づいて混合比を特定する混合比特定部(148)と、物質スペクトルにおける特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、組成比、または物質スペクトルの形状を導出し、物質特定情報を参照して物質を特定する物質特定部(150)とを備える。

Description

物質特定装置および物質特定方法
 本発明は、任意の物質を特定する物質特定装置および物質特定方法に関する。
 本願は、2013年9月10日に日本に出願された特願2013-186939号に基づき優先権を主張し、その内容をここに援用する。
 レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光(LIBS:Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy)による物質特定装置は、特定対象となる試料にパルスのレーザ光を照射し、このレーザ光によりプラズマ化されて高エネルギー状態に励起された分解物が元のエネルギー状態に戻る際に放射される光を測定して、その試料がどのような物質であるか特定する。
 例えば、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光を通じて木材の表面から得られる炭素の発光強度と、木材の気乾密度との検量線を予め作成しておき、その検量線を用い、木材の含水率に拘わらず、炭素の蛍光強度から木材の気乾密度を非破壊的に測定する技術が開示されている(例えば、特許文献1)。
 しかし、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光の計測結果は、レーザ発振強度のばらつきや測定場の温度変化により変動する。そこで、同一成分の異なる温度の発光信号を予め測定しておき、それらと実測した発光信号とを比較して材質を特定する技術が公開されている(例えば、特許文献2)。また、温度を含む多変量の環境変化に対応したレーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光の解析結果を得る技術も開示されている(例えば、特許文献3)。

 しかし、上述した特許文献1~3の技術は、パルスレーザを照射した際のプラズマの温度および物質のいずれか一方が特定されている状態で、他方を特定する。したがって、プラズマの温度および物質の両方が未知または変動している場合には適用できなかった。
 上述の技術においては、プラズマの温度を特定できれば、その温度に基づいて物質を特定することが可能となる。しかしながら、プラズマの温度は、レーザ光の当て方、レーザ装置と試料との距離、レーザ装置と試料との空間における透過率等の様々なパラメータの影響を受けるため、試料が置かれている雰囲気から客観的に求めるのは困難である。
 また、試料がプラズマ化される際、周辺の空気を巻き込んで、プラズマに空気が混入する事象が生じる。プラズマに対する空気の混合比によってレーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光の計測結果も異なる。したがって、上述した温度のみならず混合比も特定できれば、物質の特定精度の向上を図ることができるはずである。しかし、空気の混合比もプラズマ化時の周囲の雰囲気の影響を受けるため、客観的に求めるのは困難である。
 本発明は、このような課題に鑑み、レーザ装置の状態や試料が置かれている雰囲気に拘わらず、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって適切に物質を特定することが可能な物質特定装置および物質特定方法を提供することを目的としている。
 上記課題を解決するために、本発明の第一の態様は、試料を構成する物質を特定する物質特定装置であって、プラズマの相異なる複数の温度における、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光による指標スペクトルと、プラズマに対する空気の相異なる複数の混合比におけるHとOのピーク比と、前記温度と前記混合比との組み合わせにおける、プラズマ化された物質の特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、プラズマ化された物質の特定の複数の分解物の組成比、およびプラズマ化された物質のスペクトル形状のうち少なくとも一つと前記物質とを対応付けた物質特定情報と、を予め保持する保持部と、前記レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって前記試料をプラズマ化して物質スペクトルを導出するスペクトル導出部と、導出された前記物質スペクトルと前記指標スペクトルとを比較して前記試料のプラズマの温度を特定する温度特定部と、導出された前記物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比に基づいて、前記試料のプラズマに対する空気の混合比を特定する混合比特定部と、前記物質スペクトルにおけるプラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、プラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物の組成比、および前記物質スペクトルの形状のうち少なくとも一つを導出し、前記物質特定情報を参照し、導出された前記発光強度のピーク比、前記組成比、および前記物質スペクトルの形状のうち少なくとも一つと、特定された前記プラズマの温度と前記混合比との組み合わせとに基づいて前記試料を構成する物質を特定する物質特定部と、を備える。
 本発明の第二の態様に係る物質特定装置は、上記第一の態様に係る物質特定装置において、物質の構造式ならびに想定されるプラズマの温度と混合比との組み合わせに基づき、プラズマ化された前記物質の特定の複数の分解物の前記組成比をシミュレーションにより導出して物質特定情報を生成する物質特定情報生成部をさらに備える。
 本発明の第三の態様に係る物質特定装置は、上記第一または第二の態様に係る物質特定装置において、指標スペクトルは、Cスワンバンドのスペクトルである。
 本発明の第四の態様に係る物質特定装置は、上記第一ないし第三の態様に係る物質特定装置において、スペクトル導出部は、前記試料のプラズマの熱平衡が成り立った後、物質スペクトルを導出する。
 本発明の第五の態様に係る物質特定装置は、上記第一ないし第四の態様に係る物質特定装置において、前記物質特定部は、物質スペクトルにおけるプラズマ化された前記試料における特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比またはプラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物の組成比を複数導出し、発光強度のピーク比または組成比を複数次元に展開して物質を特定する。
 本発明の第六の態様に係る物質特定装置は、上記第一ないし第四の態様に係る物質特定装置において、前記保持部には、前記物質特定情報として、前記試料を構成する物質として想定される複数の物質の発光強度のCのピーク値とCNのピーク値との比であるC/CNピーク比が保持され、前記物質特定部は、前記保持部に保持される前記C/CNピーク比と、前記物質スペクトルにおける前記試料の発光強度のCのピーク値とCNのピーク値との比であるC/CNピーク比とを比較することにより、前記試料を構成する物質を特定する。
 本発明の第七の態様に係る物質特定装置は、上記第一ないし第四の態様に係る物質特定装置において、前記保持部には、前記物質特定情報として、前記試料を構成する物質として想定される複数の物質の発光強度のCのピーク値とHのピーク値との比であるC/Hピーク比が保持され、前記物質特定部は、前記保持部に保持される前記C/Hピーク比と、前記物質スペクトルにおける前記試料の発光強度のCのピーク値とHのピーク値との比であるC/Hピーク比とを比較することにより、前記試料を構成する物質を特定する。
 本発明の第八の態様に係る物質特定装置は、上記第一ないし第四の態様に係る物質特定装置において、前記保持部には、前記物質特定情報として、前記試料を構成する物質として想定される複数の物質のスペクトルの形状が保持され、前記物質特定部は、前記物質スペクトルの形状と、前記試料を構成する物質として想定される前記複数の物質のスペクトルの形状とを比較することにより、前記試料を構成する物質を特定する。
 本発明の第九の態様は、試料を構成する物質を特定する物質特定方法であって、プラズマの相異なる複数の温度における、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光による指標スペクトルと、プラズマに対する空気の相異なる複数の混合比におけるHとOのピーク比と、前記温度と前記混合比との組み合わせにおける、プラズマ化された物質の特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、プラズマ化された物質の特定の複数の分解物の組成比、およびプラズマ化された物質のスペクトル形状のうち少なくとも一つと物質とを対応付けた物質特定情報と、を予め保持する保持ステップと、前記レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって前記試料をプラズマ化して物質スペクトルを導出する物質スペクトル導出ステップと、導出した前記物質スペクトルと前記指標スペクトルとを比較して前記試料のプラズマの温度を特定するプラズマ温度特定ステップと、導出した前記物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比に基づいて、前記試料のプラズマに対する空気の混合比を特定する混合比特定ステップと、前記物質スペクトルにおけるプラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、プラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物の組成比、および前記物質スペクトルの形状のうち少なくとも一つを導出し、前記物質特定情報を参照し、導出された前記発光強度のピーク比、前記組成比、および前記物質スペクトルの形状のうち少なくとも一つと、特定された前記プラズマの温度と前記混合比との組み合わせとに基づいて物質を特定する物質特定ステップと、を備える。
 本発明によれば、レーザ装置の状態や試料が置かれている雰囲気に拘わらず、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって適切に物質を特定することが可能となる。

 以下に添付図面を参照しながら、本発明の好適な実施形態について詳細に説明する。かかる実施形態に示す寸法、材料、その他具体的な数値等は、発明の理解を容易とするための例示にすぎず、特に断る場合を除き、本発明を限定するものではない。なお、本明細書および図面において、実質的に同一の機能、構成を有する要素については、同一の符号を付することにより重複説明を省略し、また本発明に直接関係のない要素は図示を省略する。
(物質特定システム100)
 図1は、物質特定システム100の概略的な構成を示した構成図である。物質特定システム100は、ターゲットホルダ110と、レーザ装置112と、レンズ114と、フィルタ116と、プローブ118と、光ファイバ120と、物質特定装置122とを含んで構成され、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光を通じて物質(化合物)を特定する。特定対象となる物質は、例えば、プラスチック、穀物、生物剤、化学剤、爆薬等の有機化合物であり、元素としてC、H、O、Nのいずれかを含むものを想定する。また、特定対象となる物質の形状や状態は特に問わない。具体的には、特定対象となる物質は、固体、液体、気体のいずれであってもよく、粉体、エアロゾル状態等であってもよい。
 物質特定システム100におけるターゲットホルダ110は、特定対象となる任意の物質(以下、単に試料という)102を固定して保持する。レーザ装置112は、例えば、フェムト秒レーザによるパルスレーザ光を、レンズ114を通じて試料102に照射する。ここではフェムト秒レーザを用いる例を挙げて説明するが、これに限らず、ピコ秒レーザ、ナノ秒レーザであってもよく、また、レーザ光の波長も問わない。
 ただし、試料102のスペクトルのピーク値に近い波長のレーザ光を用いると、レーザ光自体がピーク値に対してノイズとなるため、試料102のスペクトルのピーク値に近い波長のレーザ光は回避するのが望ましい。したがって、ここでは、波長780nm、出力1mJ、パルス幅120fsec、周期1kHzのレーザ光を用いている。試料102は、レーザ光を受けてプラズマ化し、物質固有の波長の光を放射する。ここで、レーザ光が試料102に満遍なく照射されるように、ターゲットホルダ110とレーザ装置112との相対位置を変更できるようにターゲットホルダ110に回転機構等を備えるのが望ましい。
 フィルタ116は、発光強度が高いレーザ光や背景光を遮断する。プローブ118は、試料102から放射された光を受光する。このとき、レンズ等を用いて集光してもよい。光ファイバ120は、プローブ118で受光された光を物質特定装置122に伝達する。
 物質特定装置122は、光ファイバ120を通じて受けた試料102の放射光を、例えばICCD(Intensified Charge Coupled Device)を検知部とした分光器122aにより、複数の波長毎に分光し、それぞれの波長のピーク値を求めてスペクトル(実測するスペクトルを物質スペクトルという)を導出し、試料102がいずれの物質であるか特定する。このとき、物質特定装置122は、レーザ装置112からレーザ光が照射されてから所定時間(例えば1nsec)以上経過した後に放射光を受け付けるのが望ましい。所定時間経過するのを待つのは、レーザ光が照射されてから所定時間経過した後に試料102のプラズマが安定的に熱平衡に達している状態となるからである。こうすることで試料102の特定精度を高めることができる。以下、物質特定装置122の構成を詳述する。
(物質特定装置122)
 図2は、物質特定装置122の概略的な構成を述べた機能ブロック図である。物質特定装置122は、保持部130と、操作部132と、表示部134と、中央制御部136とを含んで構成される。保持部130は、ROM、不揮発性RAM、フラッシュメモリ、HDD等で構成される。保持部130は、プラズマの相異なる複数の温度における、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光による指標スペクトルと、プラズマに対する空気の相異なる複数の混合比における、HとOのピーク比と、複数の温度と複数の混合比との組み合わせにおける、プラズマ化した特定の複数の分解物の発光強度のピーク比と物質とを対応付けた物質特定情報とを予め保持する。以下に、指標スペクトルおよび物質特定情報を例示する。ここで、分解物は、物質(化合物)から遊離した断片である。
(指標スペクトル)
 図3は、物質のスペクトルを説明するための説明図である。ここでは、元素としてC、H、O、Nのいずれかを含む物質として「ポリエチレン」を例に挙げて説明する。図3に示されるスペクトルでは、図3中左側から順に、主として、C、CN、CN、CN、CH、C、C、Cのピークが観測されている。また、図3上には示していないが、HやOのピークも観測される。このうち、Cのピークが観測される520nm近傍の帯域をCスワンバンドという。また、CやCNのピークが複数存在する場合は、その最大値をピークとして用いる。
 図3を参照すると、ポリエチレンの分子中に存在しないNを含む分解物CNのピークが観測されている。分解物CNは、試料102であるポリエチレンがプラズマ化される際(プラズマが膨張する際)に、周辺の空気(大気中のN)を巻き込んで、プラズマに空気が混入した結果生じたものと推定される。
 試料102の物質スペクトルは、プラズマの温度によって、また、プラズマに対する空気の混合比によって異なる。そこで、物質スペクトルの指標となる指標スペクトルを異なる温度毎に設け、また、HとOとのピーク比を異なる混合比毎に設ける。以下、温度毎の指標スペクトルを例示する。
 図4A~4Dは、Cスワンバンドにおける温度毎の指標スペクトルを説明するための説明図である。ここでは、特定対象となる試料102に含まれることが想定される1または複数の分解物、例えば、CスワンバンドのCについて、想定されるプラズマの温度の範囲から選択された複数の温度、例えば、3000K、4000K、5000K、6000Kのそれぞれにおいて、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光を通じてスペクトルを導出し、それを指標スペクトルとして保持部130に保持する。
 図4A~4Dを参照すると、同一の分解物(ここではCスワンバンドのC)においては、温度に拘わらず複数の特定の波長で放射光を確認することができる。ただし、図4A~図4Dを比較して把握できるように、放射光の発光強度が温度に応じて異なる。したがって、試料102に分解物としてCが含まれる場合(または試料102に元素としてCが含まれる場合)、試料102の物質スペクトルが、どの温度の指標スペクトルと近似しているかを判断することで、試料102におけるプラズマの温度を推定することができる。
 図4A~図4Dに示されるように、このような指標スペクトルにおいて、プラズマの温度が低い範囲、すなわち、レーザ光のエネルギーが小さい範囲では、発光強度のピーク比の変化率が大きく、プラズマの温度が高い範囲、すなわち、レーザ光のエネルギーが大きい範囲では、発光強度のピーク比の変化率が小さい。なお、本実施形態ではプラズマの温度の分解能を1000Kとし、指標スペクトルとして4つの例を示したが、指標スペクトルの数に制限はなく、多ければ多いほどよい。ただし、以下に示す物質特定情報におけるプラズマの温度の分解能と合わせるのが望ましい。
 また、図示は省略するが、プラズマに対する空気の混合比(例えば、0%、10%、20%、30%、40%、50%)に応じて試料102の物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比は異なる。ここでは混合比の分解能を10%とし、後述するC/CNピーク比として6つの例を示すが、C/CNピーク比の数に制限はなく、多ければ多いほどよい。ただし、以下に示す物質特定情報における空気の混合比の分解能と合わせるのが望ましい。
(物質特定情報)
 上記のようにプラズマの温度およびプラズマに対する空気の混合比が特定されると、その温度と混合比との組み合わせと、保持部130に保持された物質特定情報とによって物質を特定する。
 図5は、物質特定情報を説明するための説明図である。ここでは、想定されるプラズマの温度の範囲から選択された複数の温度、例えば、3000K、4000K、5000K、6000Kと、想定されるプラズマに対する空気の混合比の範囲から選択された複数の混合比、例えば、0%、10%、20%、30%、40%、50%との組み合わせに対する、特定対象となり得る複数の物質、例えば、ナイロン、ポリウレタン、ポリエチレン、ポリスチレンの発光強度のCのピークとCNのピークの比であるC/CNピーク比がテーブル化されて保持部130に保持されている。
 図5を参照すると、同一の物質であっても、プラズマの温度やプラズマに対する空気の混合比に応じて発光強度のC/CNピーク比が異なっている。したがって、温度と混合比が特定されれば、特定された温度と混合比に属するC/CNピーク比から物質を特定することができる。すなわち、本実施形態では、プラズマの温度と、プラズマに対する空気の混合比と、C/CNピーク比の3つのパラメータによって物質を特定する。
 このように、同一の物質であってもC/CNピーク比がプラズマの温度によって異なるのは、以下の理由による。プラズマ化されていない状態(エネルギーが低い状態)にあるとき分解物は生じていない。物質はレーザ光を受けるとプラズマ化し、エネルギーが高い状態に励起・分解するが、物質が全て分解物となる訳ではない。レーザ光の強度、照射後の時間に応じてプラズマの温度が変わると、物質が励起・分解・結合する比率が変わり、存在するプラズマ成分(分解物)の比(組成比)が異なることとなる。このように分解物の組成比が異なると、所定の波長の発光強度も単純に分解物数に応じて異なることとなり、上記したようにC/CNピーク比も異なることとなる。
 また、同一の物質であってもC/CNピーク比がプラズマに対する空気の混合比によって異なるのは、以下の理由による。試料102がプラズマ化される際(プラズマが膨張する際)には、周辺の空気を巻き込んで、プラズマに空気が混入する。したがって、プラズマに対する空気の混合比(大気中のNの混合比)が大きいほど、Cのピークに対してNを元素とするCNのピークが相対的に高くなる。こうして、プラズマに対する空気の混合比が大きくなるに連れ、C/CNピーク比が小さくなる。本実施形態では、このような混合比を取り入れることで、ピーク値が高いCNピークを物質の特定に利用することができるので、特定精度が向上する。
 また、本来、化学平衡計算において、物質を特定する場合、分解物の組成比を用いるが、本実施形態では、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって容易に導出可能な分解物のピーク比を用いている。
 図6は、物質毎のC/CN組成比とC/CNピーク比との関係を示した説明図である。ここでは、各物質についてプラズマの温度4000K、プラズマに対する空気の混合比30%の条件下でシミュレーションを行い、各物質のC/CN組成比に対するC/CNピーク比の計測5回分の平均値を導出している。図6を参照すると、C/CN組成比に対するC/CNピーク比の平均値は、図6中破線で示す直線近傍に出現しており、両者が比例関係にあることが理解できる。したがって、C/CN組成比の代わりにC/CNピーク比を用いたとしても、組成比と同等の評価によって物質を特定することが可能である。このように、本実施形態では、導出困難なC/CN組成比に代え、容易に導出可能なC/CNピーク比を用いて、物質特定処理の単純化を図る。ただし、C/CN組成比を特定できれば、C/CNピーク比の代わりにC/CN組成比を用いて物質を特定してもよい。
 図2に戻って、操作部132は、操作キー、十字キー、ジョイスティック、表示部134の表示面に重畳されたタッチパネル、リモートコントローラ等で構成され、ユーザによる物質特定装置122への操作入力を受け付ける。表示部134は、液晶ディスプレイ、有機EL(Electro Luminescence)ディスプレイ等で構成され、操作部132を通じて入力された操作結果、特定処理の途中結果(例えば導出された物質スペクトル)、特定された物質等を表示する。
 中央制御部136は、中央処理装置(CPU)、プログラム等が格納されたROM、ワークエリアとしてのRAM等を含む半導体集積回路で構成され、物質特定装置122全体を管理および制御する。また、中央制御部136は、指標スペクトル生成部140、物質特定情報生成部142、スペクトル導出部144、温度特定部146、混合比特定部148、物質特定部150として機能する。
 指標スペクトル生成部140は、事前準備において、複数のプラズマの温度における、プラズマ化した特定の分解物のレーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光による指標スペクトルを生成する。
 物質特定情報生成部142は、事前準備において、プラズマ化した特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比(または組成比)と、物質とを対応付けた物質特定情報を生成する。
 スペクトル導出部144は、物質特定時において、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光を用い、試料102をプラズマ化して物質スペクトルを導出する。
 温度特定部146は、物質特定時において、導出された物質スペクトルと指標スペクトルとを比較し、試料102のプラズマの温度を特定する。
 混合比特定部148は、物質特定時において、導出された物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比に基づきプラズマに対する空気の混合比を特定する。
 物質特定部150は、物質特定時において、スペクトル導出部144が導出した物質スペクトルの分解物の発光強度のピーク比または分解物の組成比を導出し、保持部130に保持された物質特定情報を参照し、温度特定部146が特定したプラズマの温度および混合比特定部148が特定した混合比と、導出した分解物の発光強度のピーク比または分解物の組成比とに基づいて物質を特定する。以下、このような各機能部の詳細な動作を具体的に説明する。
(物質特定方法)
 図7は、物質特定方法の処理の流れを示したフローチャートである。ここでは、事前準備において、指標スペクトル、HとOのピーク比および物質特定情報を準備し、物質特定時に、プラズマの温度、プラズマに対する空気の混合比、発光強度のピーク比、物質といった順に特定していく。
(事前準備)
 指標スペクトル生成部140は、事前準備において、図4A~4Dを用いて説明したように、想定されるプラズマの温度の範囲から選択された複数の温度、例えば、3000K、4000K、5000K、6000Kにおける、Cスワンバンドの指標スペクトルを生成する(S1)。指標スペクトルは、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光を通じて実際に測定されたスペクトルを用いてもよいし、理論計算により導出されたスペクトルを用いてもよい。また、本実施形態では、Cスワンバンドの指標スペクトルを用いているが、Cスワンバンドに限られず、指標となる様々な分解物の指標スペクトルを用いることができる。次に、指標スペクトル生成部140は、事前準備において、想定されるプラズマに対する空気の混合比の範囲から選択された複数の混合比、例えば、0%、10%、20%、30%、40%、50%における、HとOのピーク比を生成する(S2)。
 続いて、物質特定情報生成部142は、事前準備において、図5を用いて説明したように、想定されるプラズマの温度の範囲から選択された複数の温度、例えば、3000K、4000K、5000K、6000Kと、想定されるプラズマに対する空気の混合比の範囲から選択された複数の混合比、例えば、0%、10%、20%、30%、40%、50%との組み合わせそれぞれについて、特定対象となり得る複数の物質、例えば、ナイロン、ポリウレタン、ポリエチレン、ポリスチレンの発光強度のC/CNピーク比を導出し、それをテーブル化して物質特定情報を生成する(S3)。
 物質特定情報は、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光を通じて実際に測定されたスペクトルを用いてもよいし、理論計算により導出されたスペクトルを用いてもよい。例えば、想定される物質が、危険物等、予め物質スペクトルを測定するのが困難な物質である場合、理論計算により導出されたスペクトルを用いる。
 理論計算により物質特定情報を求める場合、物質特定情報生成部142は、物質の構造式と想定される温度とを入力値として受け付け、物質の構造式と温度とに基づき、物質がプラズマ化され熱平衡に達したときの分解物の組成比をシミュレーションにより導出する。そして、導出された分解物の組成比に各分解物の発光強度を加味して、図8A~8Dに示すようなスペクトルを導出する。図8Aは、プラズマの温度が4000Kの場合のナイロンのスペクトルを示す。図8Bは、プラズマの温度が4000Kの場合のポリウレタンのスペクトルを示す。図8Cは、プラズマの温度が4000Kの場合のポリエチレンのスペクトルを示す。図8Dは、プラズマの温度が4000Kの場合のポリスチレンのスペクトルを示す。これらのスペクトルは、既存の様々な技術を用いて導出することができるので、その詳細な手順を省略する。
 物質特定情報生成部142は、スペクトルを分析してC/CNピーク比を導出する。このようなC/CNピーク比を、想定される物質、想定されるプラズマの温度の範囲から選択された複数の温度、および、想定されるプラズマに対する空気の混合比の範囲から選択された複数の混合比の全てについて導出し、それをテーブル化することで物質特定情報を生成する。
 このように理論計算によって物質特定情報を生成することで、想定される物質が、危険物等、予め物質スペクトルを測定するのが困難な物質であったとしても物質特定情報を生成することができ、後の物質特定において、そのような物質を高精度に特定することができる。
(物質特定)
 図7に戻って説明すると、スペクトル導出部144は、物質特定時において、レーザ装置112にレーザ光の照射を指示し、ターゲットホルダ110に保持された試料102にレーザ光を照射させる。スペクトル導出部144は、試料102の特定精度を高めるべく、プラズマの熱平衡が成り立つ条件下、すなわちレーザ装置112からレーザ光が照射されてから所定時間後に放射光を受け付けて物質スペクトルを導出する(S4)。このようにして、例えば、図9に示すような物質スペクトルを導出したと仮定する。この時点では、プラズマの温度、プラズマに対する空気の混合比、および、物質のいずれも不明である。
 温度特定部146は、物質特定時において、導出された物質スペクトルと指標スペクトルとを比較して任意の物質のプラズマの温度を特定する(S5)。上述したように、同一の分解物(ここではCスワンバンド)では、複数の特定の波長において、温度に応じて発光強度が異なる放射光を確認することができる。したがって、物質スペクトルにおいて発光強度がどのように分布しているかによって、試料102におけるプラズマの温度を推定することができる。
 図10A~10Cは、温度特定部146の動作を説明するための説明図である。温度特定部146は、スペクトル導出部144が導出した、図9に示す物質スペクトル(図10A~10C中実線で示す)と、プラズマの温度3000K、4000K、5000Kにおける、Cスワンバンドの各指標スペクトル(図10A~10C中破線で示す)とを比較し、その相関度を判定する。かかる判定は、例えば、最小二乗法等を通じて物質スペクトルと指標スペクトルとの差分を導出し、差分が最小となる指標スペクトルのプラズマの温度を、物質スペクトルのプラズマの温度とする。
 図10A~10Cにおいては、図10Bに示すプラズマの温度4000Kにおける指標スペクトルと物質スペクトルとが発光強度の比率に関し相関が高いので、温度特定部146は、物質スペクトルのプラズマの温度を4000Kと特定する。
 通常、プラズマの温度は、レーザ光の当て方、レーザ装置112と試料102との距離、レーザ装置112と試料102との空間における透過率等の様々なパラメータの影響を受けてしまい、試料102が置かれている雰囲気から客観的に求めるのは困難である。しかし、本実施形態では、プラズマの温度を、スペクトルを通じて特定できるので、その試験雰囲気に拘わらず、様々なパラメータの影響を受けることもない。したがって、レーザ光と試料102との距離も自由に設定することができ、例えば、レーザ光を遠隔から照射するリモート測定を行うことも可能となる。
 また、図4A~4Dを用いて説明したように、レーザ光のエネルギーが小さい範囲では、図4A~図4Cを比較して理解できるように発光強度の変化率が大きい。一方、プラズマの温度が高い範囲、すなわち、レーザ光のエネルギーが大きい範囲では、図4Cと図4Dとを比較して理解できるように発光強度の変化率が小さくなる。試験状況による物質スペクトルへの影響を考慮すると発光強度の変化率が小さく、かつ、レーザ光のエネルギーが大きい範囲を用いるべきである。しかしながら、本実施形態では、レーザ光のエネルギーの大きさに拘わらずプラズマの温度を高精度に特定できるので、レーザ光のエネルギーを小さくすることができ、レーザ光の消費電力を低減したり、レーザ光をより遠距離から試料102に照射することも可能となる。
 再び図7に戻って説明すると、混合比特定部148は、物質特定時において、導出された物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比に基づいて任意の物質のプラズマに対する空気の混合比を特定する(S6)。上述したように、同一の分解物では、プラズマ化される際に混入する空気の混合比によって物質スペクトルが変化する。したがって、物質スペクトルにおいて発光強度がどのように分布しているかによって、試料102における空気の混合比を推定することができる。具体的に、混合比特定部148は、スペクトル導出部144が導出した、図9に示す物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比と、プラズマに対する空気の混合比が0%、10%、20%、30%、40%、50%の場合のHとOのピーク比とを比較し、その差分が最小となるHとOのピーク比における混合比を、物質スペクトルの混合比とする。
 通常、プラズマに対する空気の混合比は、プラズマ化時の試料102周囲の雰囲気の影響を受けてしまい、その値を客観的に求めるのは困難である。しかし、本実施形態では、プラズマに対する空気の混合比を、スペクトルを通じて特定できるので、その試験雰囲気に拘わらず、様々なパラメータの影響を受けることもない。したがって、試料102を載置する空間(雰囲気)を自由に決定することが可能となる。
 物質特定部150は、物質特定時において、物質スペクトルにおける特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比または組成比を導出し、温度特定部146が特定したプラズマの温度および混合比特定部148が特定したプラズマに対する空気の混合比における物質特定情報に基づいて物質を特定する(S7)。
 例えば、物質特定部150は、図9におけるCのピーク値とCNのピーク値との比であるC/CNピーク比を判定する。ここでは、例えば、C/CN=5000000/21500000=0.2326という結果を得たとする。続いて、物質特定部150は、図5の物質特定情報を参照し、温度特定部146が特定した温度4000K、混合比特定部148が特定した混合比10%の欄においてC/CNピーク比が0.2326に近似する物質が存在するか否か判定する。ここでは、「ポリスチレン」のC/CNピーク比が0.2257なので、物質特定部150は、図9のような物質スペクトルを示す物質を「ポリスチレン」と特定する。こうして、物質特定装置122は、試料102がどの物質で構成されるかを特定することができる。
 以上説明したように、本実施形態によれば、レーザ装置112と試料102との距離、試料102が置かれている雰囲気等のパラメータの変動に拘わらず、プラズマの温度、プラズマに対する空気の混合比および物質の全てが不明な場合であっても、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって適切に物質を特定することが可能となる。
(変形例)
 上記の実施形態では、C/CNピーク比を用いて物質を特定した。しかし、温度や混合比によっては物質同士のC/CNピーク比が近似しており区別するのが困難であったり、スペクトルの測定のばらつきによって実測したC/CNピーク比が本来のC/CNピーク比とずれる場合もある。そこで、物質特定部150は、物質スペクトルにおける特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比を、複数導出し、発光強度のピーク比を2次元(複数次元)に展開して物質を特定してもよい。
 図11は、2種類のピーク比を用いた物質の特定を説明するための説明図である。ここでは、C/CNピーク比に加え、CHピークとCNピークとの比であるCH/CNピーク比を用いている。図11では、横軸にC/CNピーク比、縦軸にCH/CNピーク比といったようにピーク比が2次元で表されている。また、図11では、物質それぞれに対して領域(ナイロンの領域210、ポリウレタンの領域212、ポリエチレンの領域214、ポリスチレンの領域216)が設けられ、物質スペクトルにおける特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度の複数のピーク比(ここでは、C/CNピーク比とCH/CNピーク比)の組み合わせがいずれの領域に含まれるかによって、その領域に対応する物質を特定する。
 ここで、シミュレーションで計算した各物質のC/CNピーク比およびCH/CNピーク比を図11にプロットしてみると、それぞれシミュレーションされた物質(◆…ナイロン、■…ポリウレタン、▲…ポリエチレン、●…ポリスチレン)がそれに対応する領域に含まれるのが理解できる。また、上述した領域の代わりに、各物質において1の点を設け、その点からのマハラノビス距離に応じていずれの物質であるか特定するとしてもよい。このように複数のピーク比を用いて複数次元に展開することで、物質の特定精度を向上することができる。
 また、さらに多次元のピーク比を参照し、ケモメトリックスの一手法であるPCA(Principal Component Analysis)やPLS-DA(Partial Least Squares-Discriminant Analysis)を用いて、物質の特定精度を向上させてもよい。かかるPCAやPLS-DAの具体的な処理は、既存の技術なので、ここではその詳細な説明を省略する。
 以上、添付図面を参照しながら本発明の好適な実施形態について説明したが、本発明はかかる実施形態に限定されないことは言うまでもない。当業者であれば、特許請求の範囲に記載された範疇において、各種の変更例または修正例に想到し得ることは明らかであり、それらについても当然に本発明の技術的範囲に属するものと了解される。
 例えば、上述した実施形態においては、発光強度のピーク比に基づいて物質を特定したが、プラズマ化された分解物の組成比が直接把握できる場合、プラズマ化された分解物の組成比がテーブル化された物質特定情報を用い、分解物の組成比に基づいて物質を特定することができる。
 また、本実施形態では、気圧が1気圧であることを前提に、プラズマの温度に基づいて物質を特定しているが、気圧が1気圧でない場合、温度にさらに気圧のパラメータを加えて物質特定情報を生成し、温度と気圧とに基づいて物質を特定することも可能である。
 また、本実施形態では、ステップS7において、C/CNピーク比を用いて物質を特定した。しかしながら、Cピークの値とHピークの値との比であるC/Hピーク比を用いて物質を特定することも可能である。
 さらに、本実施形態では、ステップS7において、発光強度のピーク比に基づいて物質を特定した。しかしながら、これに換えて、試料102をプラズマ化して導出されたスペクトルの形状に基づいて物質を特定することも可能である。具体的には、物質特定情報として、試料を構成する物質として想定される複数の物質のスペクトルの形状を予めデータベース化しておき、試料102の物質スペクトルの形状をデータベース化されたスペクトルの形状と比較し、その差分が最も少ない物質を、試料102を構成する物質と特定する。
 本発明は、任意の物質を特定する物質特定装置および物質特定方法に利用することができる。

Claims (9)

  1.  試料を構成する物質を特定する物質特定装置であって、
     プラズマの相異なる複数の温度における、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光による指標スペクトルと、プラズマに対する空気の相異なる複数の混合比におけるHとOのピーク比と、前記温度と前記混合比との組み合わせにおける、プラズマ化された物質の特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、プラズマ化された物質の特定の複数の分解物の組成比、およびプラズマ化された物質のスペクトル形状のうち少なくとも一つと前記物質とを対応付けた物質特定情報と、を予め保持する保持部と、
     前記レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって前記試料をプラズマ化して物質スペクトルを導出するスペクトル導出部と、
     導出された前記物質スペクトルと前記指標スペクトルとを比較して前記試料のプラズマの温度を特定する温度特定部と、
     導出された前記物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比に基づいて、前記試料のプラズマに対する空気の混合比を特定する混合比特定部と、
     前記物質スペクトルにおけるプラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、プラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物の組成比、および前記物質スペクトルの形状のうち少なくとも一つを導出し、前記物質特定情報を参照し、導出された前記発光強度のピーク比、前記組成比、および前記物質スペクトルの形状のうち少なくとも一つと、特定された前記プラズマの温度と前記混合比との組み合わせとに基づいて前記試料を構成する物質を特定する物質特定部と、
    を備える物質特定装置。
  2.  物質の構造式ならびに想定されるプラズマの温度と混合比との組み合わせに基づき、プラズマ化された前記物質の前記特定の複数の分解物の前記組成比をシミュレーションにより導出して前記物質特定情報を生成する物質特定情報生成部をさらに備える請求項1に記載の物質特定装置。
  3.  前記指標スペクトルは、Cスワンバンドのスペクトルである請求項1または2に記載の物質特定装置。
  4.  前記スペクトル導出部は、前記試料のプラズマの熱平衡が成り立った後、前記物質スペクトルを導出する請求項1に記載の物質特定装置。
  5.  前記物質特定部は、前記物質スペクトルにおけるプラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比またはプラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物の組成比を複数導出し、前記発光強度のピーク比または前記組成比を複数次元に展開して物質を特定する請求項1に記載の物質特定装置。
  6.  前記保持部には、前記物質特定情報として、前記試料を構成する物質として想定される複数の物質の発光強度のCのピーク値とCNのピーク値との比であるC/CNピーク比が保持され、
     前記物質特定部は、前記保持部に保持される前記C/CNピーク比と、前記物質スペクトルにおける前記試料の発光強度のCのピーク値とCNのピーク値との比であるC/CNピーク比とを比較することにより、前記試料を構成する物質を特定する請求項1に記載の物質特定装置。
  7.  前記保持部には、前記物質特定情報として、前記試料を構成する物質として想定される複数の物質の発光強度のCのピーク値とHのピーク値との比であるC/Hピーク比が保持され、
     前記物質特定部は、前記保持部に保持される前記C/Hピーク比と、前記物質スペクトルにおける前記試料の発光強度のCのピーク値とHのピーク値との比であるC/Hピーク比とを比較することにより、前記試料を構成する物質を特定する請求項1に記載の物質特定装置。
  8.  前記保持部には、前記物質特定情報として、前記試料を構成する物質として想定される複数の物質のスペクトルの形状が保持され、
     前記物質特定部は、前記物質スペクトルの形状と、前記試料を構成する物質として想定される前記複数の物質のスペクトルの形状とを比較することにより、前記試料を構成する物質を特定する請求項1に記載の物質特定装置。
  9.  試料を構成する物質を特定する物質特定方法であって、
     プラズマの相異なる複数の温度における、レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光による指標スペクトルと、プラズマに対する空気の相異なる複数の混合比におけるHとOのピーク比と、前記温度と前記混合比との組み合わせにおける、プラズマ化された物質の特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、プラズマ化された物質の特定の複数の分解物の組成比、およびプラズマ化された物質のスペクトル形状のうち少なくとも一つと物質とを対応付けた物質特定情報と、を予め保持する保持ステップと、
     前記レーザ誘起ブレークダウン分光によって前記試料をプラズマ化して物質スペクトルを導出する物質スペクトル導出ステップと、
     導出した前記物質スペクトルと前記指標スペクトルとを比較して前記試料のプラズマの温度を特定するプラズマ温度特定ステップと、
     導出した前記物質スペクトルにおけるHとOのピーク比に基づいて、前記試料のプラズマに対する空気の混合比を特定する混合比特定ステップと、
     前記物質スペクトルにおけるプラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物に対する発光強度のピーク比、プラズマ化された前記試料における前記特定の複数の分解物の組成比、および前記物質スペクトルの形状のうち少なくとも一つを導出し、前記物質特定情報を参照し、導出された前記発光強度のピーク比、前記組成比、および前記物質スペクトルの形状のうち少なくとも一つと、特定された前記プラズマの温度と前記混合比との組み合わせとに基づいて物質を特定する物質特定ステップと、
    を備える物質特定方法。
