Description
Bathtub
The present invention relates to a bathtub for a bathroom, comprising an opening and closing entry which facilitates the use of the bathtub especially by the elderly and the disabled.
State of the art
There are bathtubs known from patent specifications DE 10 2009 026 341 Al and DE 10 2004 031883 A, having a side entry opening into a bathtub with a properly sealed door, so that when the door is closed, the bathtub can be filled with water. Patent specification DE 10 2009 026 341 Al discloses a more far-reaching solution of a bathtub design with a side entry opening, which is equipped with an additional water tank so that the bathtub can be quickly filled with water when the person is in the bathtub and a tight door is dosed. However, the presented solutions have the disadvantage that the tight doors containing hinges are expensive designs, and equipping the bathtub with an additional tank further increases manufacturing costs of the bathtub, which makes that its selling price is high, and therefore such bathtubs are not available for an average user.
The object of the invention is to construct a bathtub devoid of the aforementioned drawbacks, that would be easy to use and enable the quick start of bath after getting into a bathtub and filling it with water without the use of an additional water tank.
The goal set has been achieved as regards the construction of a bathtub comprising a tap for water supply with an entry in the form of a formed
opening in a bathtub wall equipped with a sub-assembly for the tight closing of the opening which, according to the essential features of the invention, is characterised in that the opening for the bathtub is closed from the top by means of the first demountable partition with a seal which is slidably mounted in guides formed on both side walls of the bathtub, and in a further part of the bathtub in a chosen distance forming from the opening the first determined space guides are formed, on its side inner walls from both sides, for mounting slidably in them the second demountable partition with seals which can be horizontally slid in a tillable manner by means of preferably two tiltable levers arranged in the first space which clamping arms slidably contact the surface of the second partition forming together with the side walls of the bathtub the second space equipped with a tap for the supply of water for bath to this space.
In a preferred embodiment the characteristic feature of the bathtub is that the opening in the bathtub wall is arranged in its back part.
In a preferred embodiment a characteristic feature of the bathtub is that at the bottom of the bathtub, at a height of the bottom edge of the second partition a smooth threshold is formed.
In a preferred embodiment inside the bathtub in its first space, also two handholds are preferably fixed.
In a preferred variation of the bathtub design a characteristic feature is also that both tiltable levers are fixed on protruding extension arms from the side walls of the bathtub to the inside of the bathtub.
In a preferred variation of the bathtub design a characteristic feature is also that seals in the first and second partition are fixed along their vertical and bottom edges.
A characteristic feature of the solution is also the construction of both partitions of the bathtub, the first and the second, which are characterised in
that they are made of plastic and comprise in an upper part a holder formed for hanging on the edge of the bathtub.
In an improved embodiment the bathtub is characterised, according to the essential features, in that the tap for water supply is arranged on its side wall, near the first demountable partition and contains a rotational spout, whereas in this embodiment the bathtub does not comprise two tiltable levers.
The beneficial effects resulting from the essential features of the invention
The most beneficial effects resulting from the essential features of the invention as regards the bathtub design with demountable two partitions include:
- obtaining a bathtub which compared to known bathtubs with a side door entry opening is much cheaper to manufacture and therefore is characterised by a lower selling price making the purchase of this type of a bathtub by more elderly and disabled people possible.
- the construction of a bathtub with two demountable partitions makes it possible to initially fill the bathtub with water in Its second space, and then when a person gets into the first space and closes the first demountable partition, and then by opening the second partition by tiltable levers as well as its removal a large space for bath is created.
- because both demountable partitions are made of plastic, which makes them light, the handling of these partitions is not burdensome.
- in the improved embodiment the bathtub in which the tap for water supply is arranged near the first demountable partition and contains a rotational spout, the use of the bathtub when it is being filled with water is considerably facilitated.
An example of the beneficial use of the essential features of the invention as regards the construction of the bathtub with a side entry opening and two demountable partitions is shown in the drawing in which:
- Fig. 1 shows the bathtub in a top view,
- Fig. 2 - A - A longitudinal section of the bathtub from Fig. 1,
- Fig. 2.1 - detail X from Fig. 2,
- Fig. 3 - a side view of the bathtub with the demountable partitions hung, -Fig.4 - a back view of the bathtub with a partial cross-section, in the upper part illustrating the way of hanging a demountable partition,
- Fig. 5 - a perspective view of the bathtub without it being equipped with levers and handholds,
- Fig. 6 - a top view of the improved bathtub which does not comprise two tiltable levers, but is equipped with a tap with a rotational spout.
Shown in an embodiment in Fig. 1 and Fig. 2, a rectangular bathtub has an opening 1 for getting into it, formed in its back wall 2. The opening is closed from the top by the first demountable partition PI with seals 3 fixed on its bottom 31 and side 32 edges which is shown in detail in Fig. 3.
The first demountable partition PI made of plastic is slidably mounted in guides 5 and 6 formed on both side inner walls 7 of the bathtub.
In a further part of the bathtub, in a chosen distance forming from the opening 1 the first determined space a guides 8 and 9 are formed, on its side inner walls 7 from both sides, for mounting in them the second demountable partition P2, also made of plastic, with seals 10 fixed on its bottom 101 and side 102 edges.
At the bottom 4 of the bathtub, at a height of the bottom edge of the second partition P2, a smooth threshold 41 is formed, shown in detail X in Fig. 2.1 which allows it to be sealed when slid.
The partition P2 can be horizontally slid in a tiltable manner by means of preferably two tiltable levers 11 and ll1 arranged in the first space a, which clamping arms 111 slidably contact the surface of the second partition P2 forming together with the side walls 7 of the bathtub the second space b equipped with the tap B for the supply of water for bath to this space. The tiltable levers 11 i ll1 are fixed on protruding extension arms 12 from the side walls 7 of the bathtub which are directed to the inside of the bathtub. The bathtub shown in Fig. 1 also comprises in the space a two known handholds p for the disabled.
Fig. 3 shows a side view of the bathtub with the demountable partitions PI and P2 hung, showing side 32 and bottom 31 edges of the demountable partition PI on which the seals 3 are fixed and showing side 102 and bottom 101 edges of the demountable partition P2, comprising seals 10.
Fig. 4 shows an example of hanging the partition PI on the upper edge 14 of the bathtub comprising in the upper part a holder 13 formed as a downwardly curved projection for hanging on the upper edge 14 of the bathtub.
Fig. 5 shows the bathtub in a pererjective view without it being equipped with levers and handholds in order to illustrate its design more clearly.
The way in which the bathtub being the subject of the invention shown in Fig. 1 to Fig. 5 is used is very beneficial and simple for the user.
In order to start using, first the second demountable partition P2 is inserted between the guides 8 and 9, and then after opening the tap B water is poured to the space b. Then, a person enters the bathtub in the space a by the opening 1 and the first demountable partition PI is inserted between the guides 5 and 6. By pressing with the hands the levers 11 and ll1 the partition P2 is half-opened which makes that the second demountable partition P2 is unsealed at the point of connection with the guide 8, and the water flows from the space b to the space a in about 20 sec. At this point, also water pressure on both sides of the partition P2 equalises. Then, the second demountable partition P2 is removed and hung on a side wall 16 of the bathtub. Once these activities are done, bath in the bathtub can be started.
After the bath the second demountable partition P2 is inserted between the guides 8 and 9, and then an outlet 15 in the space a of the bathtub is opened. Once the water is drained from the space a, the first demountable partition PI is removed from the guides 5 and 6 and hung on the side wall 16 of the bathtub and a person gets out of the bathtub. After the bath also an outlet 17 in the space b of the bathtub is opened and the second demountable partition P2 is removed and hung on the side wail 16 of the bathtub.
The improved rectangular bathtub shown in the embodiment in Fig. 6 has a tap Bl for water supply arranged on the side wall 7 of the bathtub, near the first demountable partition PI. The tap Bl comprises a rotational spout Blw, whereas in this embodiment the bathtub does not contain two tiltable levers 11 and 111 which are shown in Fig. 1.
In connection with the introduced improvement, the way in which the bathtub is used has been modified and is very beneficial and simple for the user. First, the second demountable partition P2 is inserted between the guides 8 and 9, and then after opening a tap Bl water is poured to the space b (the tap Bl in this solution is shifted towards the space a of the bathtub and has a movable spout Blw so that water can be poured to part b and to part a of the bathtub). The poured water exerts pressure on the partition P2 and thus a tight connection on the edges of the partition P2, the guide 8 and a threshold 41 is created. Then, a person gets into the bathtub in the space a by the opening 1 and the first demountable partition PI is inserted between the guides 5 and 6. Then, by directing the spout Blw of the tap Bl over the space a of the bathtub water is poured into this space. Water pouring time 20-30 sec. The poured water exerts pressure on the partition PI and thus a tight connection on the edges of the partition PI, the guide 5 and a threshold 31 is created. At this point, also water pressure on both sides of the partition P2 equalises and this partition can be removed from the guides 8 and 9 and hung on a side wall 16 of the bathtub. Once these activities are done, bath in the bathtub can be started.
After the bath a person moves to the space a. The second demountable partition P2 is inserted between the guides 8 and 9, and then an outlet 15 in the space a of the bathtub is opened, Once the water is drained from the space a, the first demountable partition PI is removed from the guides 5 and 6 and hung on the side wall 16 of the bathtub and a person gets out of the bathtub. After the bath also an outlet 17 in the space b of the bathtub is opened and the second demountable partition P2 is removed and hung on the side wall 16 of the bathtub.
The bathtub according to the essential features of the invention presented in the embodiment of the invention does not exhaust all the possible variations of its embodiments. The opening 1 presented in the embodiment can also be formed on the side wall 16 of the bathtub. This detailed description of the preferred embodiment should not be construed as limiting the basic inventive idea described in the substantial part of the present description.
