Abstract

The invention relates to a high voltage power supply unit (10a). The high voltage power supply unit (10a) comprises a voltage transformer component (18a) and a discharge circuit component (20a). The voltage transformer component (18a) and the discharge circuit component (20a) are connected to one another. The voltage transformer component (18a) is designed to supply a required high voltage to the voltage output (High/Low) of the high voltage power supply unit (10a) without delay errors. The discharge circuit component (20a) is designed such that the high voltage (10a) made available at the voltage output (High/Low) is reduced to a required reduced high voltage without delay errors. As a result, Pockels cells, that are connected to the voltage output (High/Low) of the high voltage power supply unit (10a) by means of a Pockels cell driver, can be very accurately controlled.
