Description

ANIMAL TREATMENT SYSTEM FOR TREATING AN ANIMAL, MILKING SYSTEM AND CLEANING SYSTEM
The invention relates to an animal treatment system for treating an animal, for instance a teat of an animal, comprising supply means for supplying treatment fluid to an animal, which supply means can be coupled in fluid throughflow connection to a container for containing treatment fluid.
In such an animal treatment system a treatment fluid is supplied to an animal. The treatment fluid can be any desired treatment fluid for treating any desired part of the animal. It can in particular be a treatment fluid for treating a teat of an animal, for instance after milking of the animal. The treatment liquid can for instance provide a protective layer on the teat. The treatment fluid can also comprise a skin treatment agent and/or disinfectant. Spraying means or dipping means can for instance be provided for the purpose of exposing the animal to the treatment fluid. The spraying means or dipping means can for instance spray or dip the treatment fluid onto the teats. Alternatively, it can for instance be the case that the treatment fluid is arranged on the teats via milking means of a milking system, wherein the milking means comprise the animal treatment system.
A drawback of an animal treatment system is that it is possible for the supply means to be coupled to an incorrect container. If the supply means are coupled for instance to a container filled with cleaning liquid or disinfecting liquid, this can harm the animal, for instance the teats of the animal.
It is an object of the invention to at least partially obviate the stated drawback.
According to the invention the treatment system of the type stated in the preamble comprises for this purpose:
- recording means for recording identification information on a container, and
- a processor for receiving the identification information recorded by the recording means and, on the basis of the recorded identification information received and predefined criteria, controlling the supply means for the purpose of discharging or not discharging treatment fluid from a container.
It is possible to effectively prevent an incorrect fluid being supplied to the animal by recording the identification information on the container and supplying a treatment fluid only when the identification information on the relevant container meets the predefined criteria.
Because fluid is only discharged from the container when the identification information on the relevant container meets the predefined criteria and the discharge means are otherwise blocked, the system is effectively prevented from being contaminated with the wrong fluid. With the system according to the invention the system need not hereby be cleaned after an incorrect container has been placed, and the system can simply be restarted once the incorrect container has been detected and the incorrect container has been exchanged for a correct container.
The criterion can for instance be that the identification information corresponds to predefined identification information. Each container can thus have for instance a determined colour or marking, for instance a barcode, and the processor can be configured to discharge liquid from the container only when the colour or the marking, for instance the barcode, of the container corresponds to a predefined colour or marking.
The criterion can also be that information read from the identification information is compared to predefined information. Product information can thus be read from for instance a barcode, which product information can be compared to information about the desired product, wherein arranging means are controlled to discharge fluid from the container in the case of a desired product and not discharge any fluid in the case of another product.
The recording means can for instance comprise optical recording means, more particularly for instance a scanner. The identification information on the containers can in that case comprise for instance a barcode, wherein the optical recording means or the scanner can read the barcode.
In an embodiment of the system according to the invention the recording means can be disposed in displaceable manner. Displacement of the recording means enables them to scan a relatively large surface area of the container. The recording means can for instance be vertically and/or horizontally displaceable. A particular possibility is that the recording means are displaceable around the container such that the container need not necessarily be placed such that the identification information is facing toward the recording means, since by being displaced the recording means can be directed toward the identification information.
The system can be configured to perform a check on the container every time fluid has to be discharged, or only when a new container is coupled to the supply means.
The system can comprise warning means for warning when an incorrect container is recorded. The warning means can for instance comprise an optically or auditively discernible alarm.
The invention also relates to a milking system for milking animals, comprising:
- milking means for milking animals;
- cleaning means and/or disinfecting means for cleaning and/or disinfecting the milking means, which cleaning means and/or disinfecting means can be coupled in fluid throughflow connection to a container for containing a cleaning fluid and/or a container for containing a disinfecting fluid, and
- treatment means for treating a teat of an animal, comprising supply means for supplying treatment fluid to an animal, which supply means can be coupled in fluid throughflow connection to a container for containing a treatment fluid; characterized in that the milking system comprises:
- recording means for recording identification information on a container, and
- a processor for receiving the identification information recorded by the recording means and, on the basis of the recorded identification information received and predefined criteria, controlling the cleaning means and/or the disinfecting means and/or the treatment means for the purpose of discharging or not discharging fluid from a container.
In such a milking system two or three optionally similar containers, each with a different fluid, are coupled to the cleaning means and/or the disinfecting means and the treatment means. The different containers may be confused here by mistake, whereby it is possible for cleaning fluid or disinfecting fluid to be supplied to the teats. This problem is at least partially obviated with the milking system according to the invention.
The cleaning fluid can for instance be hydrogen peroxide, which can also have a disinfecting function.
It is noted that the milking system can be any milking system such as, though not exclusively, an automatic milking system.
The invention also relates to a cleaning system for a milking system for milking animals, comprising:
- cleaning means and/or disinfecting means for cleaning and/or disinfecting the milking system, which cleaning means and/or disinfecting means can be coupled in fluid throughflow connection to a container for containing a cleaning fluid and/or a container for containing a disinfecting fluid, and
- treatment means for treating a teat of an animal, comprising supply means for supplying treatment fluid to an animal, which supply means can be coupled in fluid throughflow connection to a container for containing a treatment fluid;
characterized in that the cleaning system comprises:
- recording means for recording identification information on a container, and
- a processor for receiving the identification information recorded by the recording means and, on the basis of the recorded identification information received and predefined criteria, controlling the cleaning means and/or the disinfecting means and/or the treatment means for the purpose of discharging or not discharging fluid from a container.
The cleaning system can for instance be a so-called Airwash plus® system, which is connectable to diverse milking systems. The Airwash plus® system leads a treatment fluid via the milking system to the teats of the cow after the cow has been milked and, after the milking system has been removed from the teats, leads a cleaning fluid to the milking system for cleaning thereof. Applying the recording means and the processor according to the invention in this system makes it possible to prevent the containers for the treatment fluid and cleaning fluid being interchanged, since the system will in that case be disabled. Possible human errors in placing of the containers can hereby be obviated by the check on the containers performed by the system according to the invention.
The milking system and/or the cleaning system can comprise one or more of the above stated features of the animal treatment system.
It is noted that the milking system according to the invention and the cleaning system according to the invention each comprise the animal treatment system according to the invention, i.e. the stated treatment means. The recording means and the processor according to the invention in that case form part of the milking system and the cleaning system and are configured to control the treatment means, in particular the supply means thereof, as well as the cleaning means and/or disinfecting means.
The invention also relates to an assembly of an animal treatment system according to claim 1 , 2 or 3 and a container for containing treatment fluid.
The invention also relates to an assembly of a milking system according to claim 4 and a container for containing treatment fluid and/or a container for containing cleaning fluid and/or a container for containing a disinfecting fluid.
The invention also relates to an assembly of a cleaning system according to claim 5 and a container for containing treatment fluid and/or a container for containing cleaning fluid and/or a container for containing a disinfecting fluid.
The invention also relates to a safety system for blocking or unblocking an animal treatment system according to any of the claims 1-3, a milking system according to claim 4 or a cleaning system according to claim 5, comprising:
- recording means for recording identification information on a container,
- a processor for receiving the identification information recorded by the recording means and, on the basis of the recorded identification information received and predefined criteria, blocking or unblocking the system.
The invention is further elucidated with reference to a figure shown in a drawing, in which: figure 1 shows a schematic view of a system according to the invention.
Figure 1 shows a system according to the invention. The system comprises an optical scanner 1 configured to read a barcode 2 on a container 3. Scanner 1 is vertically and horizontally displaceable in directions 4 such that scanner 1 can read barcode 2 when it may be arranged at different locations on container 3, wherein scanner 1 can optionally be rotated around container 3. Scanner 1 can alternatively be disposed or configured such that it can record substantially the whole surface area of a side of container 3. Container 3 must in that case be disposed with barcode 2 facing toward scanner 1. If scanner 1 cannot record a barcode 2, for instance because container 3 is disposed incorrectly or has no barcode 2, the system will be blocked. The identification information read by scanner 1 is transmitted, optionally wirelessly, to a processor 6. Processor 6 receives and processes the identification information recorded by scanner 1. A conduit 5 is connected to container 3 for the purpose of discharging from container 3 fluid present in container 3. Whether or not the fluid is discharged from container 3 is controlled by processor 6, which processor 6 is configured on the basis of the recorded identification information received and predefined criteria to operate a valve 8 controllable by an electronic control 7 such that fluid is discharged from container 3 via conduit 5 when the identification information meets the criteria and fluid is not discharged from container 3 when the identification information does not meet the criteria. Conduit 5 for discharging the fluid can for instance form part of an animal treatment system, a milking system or a cleaning system according to the invention. Such systems are per se known and, for the sake of simplicity, not shown in the figures.
If the system comprises a number of containers 3, there can then be one scanner 1 which scans all containers, or a number of scanners, for instance a scanner per container.
Figure 1 shows container 3 with barcode 2. Barcode 2 can be a barcode which has already been arranged on container 3 for the purpose of scanning container 3, for instance during sale, distribution or processing of container 3, and which can now also be used for the system according to the invention. Barcode 2 can alternatively be arranged for the system according to the invention.
It is noted that any desired marking or other identification information can be provided instead of a barcode. The colour of container 3 can thus also be used for instance as identification information.
The container is shown in figure 1 as a container 3. It will be apparent that the container can be any container for holding a substance.
It is noted that the invention is not limited to the shown embodiments but also extends to variants within the scope of the appended claims.
