Definitions
- the present invention relates to a blood glucose measurement sensor, and more particularly to a blood glucose measurement sensor for detecting blood sugar by the polarization phase difference of the optical signal.
- Integrated optical sensors have the advantages of high resolution, miniaturization, surface plasmon resonance sensors, Bragg grating sensors, and Mahzander interferometer sensors.
- a sensor using polarimetric interference is configured with an optical waveguide.
- the polarizing interference surface detection device is configured by exposing an optical waveguide to a surface.
- the principle is to detect a phase change of waveguide light according to a change in refractive index of a surface material. That is, the polarization interference type surface detection apparatus uses a phenomenon in which the traveling speed of the waveguides with respect to the two polarizations is different.
- the polarization component outputted after simultaneously injecting two polarizations as the reference to the waveguide is analyzed, and the phase difference between the two reference polarizations is different due to the phase change amount of the two reference polarizations due to the material change on the surface of the waveguide. . Therefore, since the change in phase difference between the reference polarization in the output light is proportional to the change in the refractive index of the surface material, the amount of change in the surface material can be detected through the analysis of the output polarization.
- FIG. 9 is a view schematically showing a conventional polarization interference surface detection device 10.
- the conventional polarization interference surface detection apparatus 10 includes a light generator 11, a first polarizer 12, a first condenser lens 13, an optical waveguide 14, and a second condenser lens 15. ), A quarter phase delay unit 16, a second polarizer 17, a polarizer driving motor 18, a light detector 19, and an analyzer 20.
- the light incident from the light generator 11 is primarily adjusted through the first polarizer 12 and the polarization is focused and collected by the first condenser lens 13 so that the optical waveguide 14 Incident In the optical waveguide 14, the phase change between the two polarizations occurs due to the change of the surface material, and the polarizer is driven after the phase of the light output from the quarter phase delay unit 16 located at the output of the optical waveguide 14 is delayed.
- Light is filtered by the second polarizer 17 which rotates continuously through the motor 18. The light intensity of the light passing through the second polarizer 17 is converted into an electrical signal by the light detector 19 and analyzed by the analyzer 20 again.
- the polarization interference surface detection apparatus 10 configured as described above may function as a biosensor, for example, and may be used as a blood glucose measurement sensor.
- a substance related to blood glucose for example, glucose
- the polarization phase difference may change to detect the amount and analyze the signal.
- the second polarizer 17 must be continuously rotated through the polarizer driving motor 18 (to detect the rotational speed and the total rotational speed and the polarization signal). ), The noise and vibration of the entire device is severe due to the drive of the polarizer drive motor 18 and there is a problem that the power consumption is large. Therefore, it is difficult to manufacture the sensor in a small size for portable, there is a problem that continuous measurement is difficult due to power consumption problems.
- the conventional waveguide sensor fabrication method is a sensor fabricated by a general semiconductor process including PECVD (Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapor Depostion), it is a method of detecting the reaction amount of glucose by configuring the channel and measuring the change in optical interference.
- the sensor may be manufactured through polarization transmission characteristic analysis and single polarization transmission waveguide optimization by applying a high refractive index thin film.
- a photoresist is coated on the waveguide surface and a microfluidic channel is established through a photolithography process. Thereafter, a thin spin coating of UV epoxy on pyrex glass was performed to cover the channel to complete the microfluidic channel.
- Such an optical waveguide sensor detects a polarization phase difference by inducing a sinusoidal optical signal through a continuous rotating polarizer and analyzing the phase thereof. For example, when a substance related to blood sugar is injected into the sensor, the polarization phase difference is changed, and the signal can be analyzed by detecting the amount thereof.
- the continuous rotation polarizer continuously rotates the polarizer with an electric motor to detect the rotational speed applied, that is, the frequency, to know the total rotational speed and to detect a signal polarized at a specific rotational speed.
- Embodiments of the present invention provide a blood glucose measurement sensor that can be miniaturized while maximizing the effective area that can be sensed by using an optical fiber in a blood glucose measurement sensor that can be continuously measured through an optical waveguide.
- a blood glucose measurement sensor capable of measuring blood glucose by detecting a polarization phase difference corresponding to a material on a sensing surface, comprising: a light source unit for providing an optical signal; Optically connected to the light source to generate a polarization phase difference in the optical signal, comprising a core and a clad, wherein the core is at least partially exposed out of the clad to form a sensing surface, high refractive index on the exposed surface of the core An optical fiber on which a layer is deposited; And a detector optically connected to the optical fiber and detecting a polarization phase difference of the optical signal.
- the glucose measuring sensor according to the embodiments of the present invention can improve the detection performance by increasing the sensing area, while the optical fiber is easy to manufacture and does not require optical integration. Even if the sensor is not distorted. In addition, it can be miniaturized so that there is no inconvenience even if attached to the user's body and living.

Abstract
