Abstract
The invention relates to a brake element (14) for detecting a deformation of a brake (2) for a rail vehicle, said brake (2) being designed to slow down a wheel and/or a wheelset of a rail vehicle by means of a friction element (4) of the brake (2). Said brake element (14) has a first material thickness in a first wall section (33) and a second material thickness in a second wall section (34), the second material thickness being thinner than the first material thickness, and comprises a measurement recorder (54) arranged on a surface of the second wall section (34) for measuring a deformation of the brake element (14) in the second wall section (34).
