Definitions
- the present invention is mainly located in the non-metallic mineral products sector and in the chemistry sector, since it refers to a heterogeneous BiV0 4 material doped with Er 3+ that exhibits excellent photocatalytic properties under solar irradiation, and its procurement procedure
- bismuth vanadate (BiV0 4 ) for which an interesting photocatalytic activity has been described both for the degradation of pollutants and for the breakage reaction of the water molecule ⁇ water splitting) under visible irradiation.
- BiV0 4 has three crystalline phases: monoclinic scheelite, tetragonal zircon and tetragonal scheelite. According to the extensive study carried out for this system, the photocatalytic activity for the phases described is significantly different. Thus, the monoclinic phase is the one with the greatest difference in irradiation conditions visible, while the tetragonal appears as a very little photoactive phase (X. Zhang, Z. Ai, F. Jia, L. Zhang, X. Fan, Z. Zou, Mat. Chem. Phys. 103, (2007), 162).
- the patent literature records several inventions that describe methods for synthesizing BiV0 4 materials with photocatalyst capacity and that are characterized by comprising a structure with a mixture of monoclinic phase and tetragonal phase (CN102249305 and CN102380367).
- patents that additionally use luminescent materials of the up-conversion type, to increase the photocatalyst capacity.
- US 201 10198530 A1 protects a method that uses a bismuth precursor, a vanadium precursor and at least the precursor of a doping metal (among which the rare earth elements are generically cited) together with a salt or mixture of salts.
- patent CN102728342 (A) describes a method for synthesizing a visible light photocatalyst material comprising BiV0 4 doped with Eu +3 that can be used in the photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants.
- the Er 3+ is one of the most interesting options, which would allow excitation in NIR or visible (X. Wang, G. Shan, K. Chao, Y. Zhang, R. Liu , L. Feng, Q. Zheng, Y. Sun, Y. Liu, X. Kong, Mat. Chem. Phys. 99, (2006), 370).
- luminescent materials based on Er 3+ exhibit luminescent emission bands in UV (326-342 and 354-359 nm), violet (405-420 nm), blue (436-442 nm ) and green (525-575 nm) under excitation at 650 nm (N. Zu, H. Yang, and Z. Dai, Physica B 2008, 403, 174).
- the present invention raises a material comprising BiV0 hetero structures doped with Er 3+ , and which is obtained through a certain synthetic route, which differs from those mostly collected in the current state of the art, and which are characterized by comprising a predominantly monoclinic phase that is the one that has traditionally presented a superior photocatalytic activity.
- BiV0 4 material doped with Er 3+ characterized by: - a proportion of the tetragonal phase of between 60 and 100%;
- Another aspect of the invention is the synthesis procedure of the BiVO 4 material doped with Er 3+ of the invention, hereinafter the synthesis process of the invention, which comprises the following steps:
- step (c) adjust the pH of the solution obtained in step (c) to values between 8 and 10 by adding NH OH;
- step (d) apply a hydrothermal treatment to the combination of solutions obtained according to step (d), consisting of heating in a microwave reactor at a temperature between 120 and 160 ° C, for a time between 0.25 and 4 hours and obtaining a precipitate ;
- step (e) cooling, filtering and washing the precipitate obtained in step (e);
- step (f) drying the precipitate obtained according to step (f) at a temperature between 100 and 150 ° C for 20 hours; Y
- step (g) calcining the powder obtained in step (g) at a temperature of between 200 and 400 ° C for a period of between 2 and 4 hours.
- a third aspect of the invention is the use of the BiVO 4 material doped with Er 3+ of the invention for the degradation of organic pollutants in aqueous or gaseous effluents using solar radiation comprising the following steps: a) preparation of the material of the invention according to the process of the invention;
- the present invention is based on the observation that the use of a certain sequence of precursor addition in the synthetic routes of the synthesis procedures of photocatalyst materials based on Er-B1VO4, consisting in that the Er 3+ precursor is added to vanadate (see Example 1), it allows to vary the structural behavior of the hetero-structured systems of the materials obtained, inducing the stabilization of a predominant tetragonal phase combined with a monoclinic phase, as a consequence of the formation of Erg0 4 seeds of the tetragonal phase, even with reduced contents of Er 3+ (see Example 1), which gives them excellent photocatalytic properties and makes them useful for application in the degradation of organic pollutants in the aqueous or gas phase (see Examples 2 and 3).
- heterostructure or “heterostructured material” refer to a structure formed by a combination of tetragonal and monoclinic phases.
- tetragonal phase refers to one of the crystalline phases of BiV0 4 (PDF 14-0133).
- the term "monoclinic phase” refers to one of the crystalline phases of BiV0 4 (PDF 14-0688).
- a first aspect of the invention is the hetero-structured material of BiV0 4 doped with Er 3+ of the invention, which comprises the following characteristics:
- a second aspect of the invention is the synthesis procedure of the hetero-structured material of BiV0 4 doped with Er 3+ of the invention and comprising the following steps:
- step (d) adjust the pH of the solution obtained in step (c) to values between 8 and 10 by adding a precipitation agent, preferably NH 4 OH.
- a hydrothermal treatment to the combination of solutions obtained according to step (d), consisting of heating in a microwave reactor at a temperature between 120 and 160 ° C, for a time between 0.25 and 4 hours and obtaining a precipitate ;
- step (e) cooling, filtering and washing the precipitate obtained in step (e);
- step (f) drying the precipitate obtained according to step (f) at a temperature between 100 and 150 ° C for 20 hours; Y
- step (g) calcining the powder obtained in step (g) at a temperature of between 200 and 400 ° C for a period of between 2 and 4 hours.
- step e) the application of the hydrothermal treatment of step e) is carried out at 140 ° C.
- the application of the hydrothermal treatment of step e) is carried out over a period of 30 minutes.
- a third aspect of the invention is the use of the hetero-structured material of BiV0 4 doped with Er 3+ of the invention for the degradation of organic pollutants in aqueous or gaseous effluents using solar radiation.
- the use of the hetero-structured material of BiV0 4 doped with Er 3+ of the invention, for the degradation of organic contaminants in water comprises the following steps:

Description
MATERIAL HETEROESTRUCTURADO DE BiVO-t DOPADO CON Er3+.
Chem. Phys. 99, (2006), 370).
