Description

Container and a blank forming the container
The present invention relates generally to a container and particularly to a box, especially a box for archiving and/or storage of goods, binders and/or files.
BACKGROUND Containers shaped as boxes of different shapes are usually used for storage of goods or archiving documents, e.g. in binders. The boxes, which usually are rectangular prisms or cubes, have one side which can be opened for accessing inside the box for filling or emptying the box. Two or more boxes may usually be stacked on each other in a storage space.
The problem with the known boxes is that when the boxes are piled, the content of the boxes which are not on the top is not accessible. Of course, one may tear of one side of a box to access the inside but then the box is destroyed and normally not possible to seal again. Especially in cases the box is used for archiving e.g. binders for containing business related documents, there is a need to access the binder(s) without moving the boxes above (if stacked),
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates to a container for transport, archiving, storage and/or relocation purposes, which solves at least the above mentioned problem.
For these reasons a container is provided comprising: a first covering portion and a second covering portion. The first covering portion is attached to an upper edge of a side portion of the container along a first fold line. The second cover portion is attached to an edge of the first covering portion opposite to the edge connected to the side portion of the container, along a second fold line and comprising: a panel haven two side edges, at least one of which is provided with a flap connected to at least one of the panel edges along a third fold line, the container further comprising a side portion coverable with said second covering portion having a detachable portion.
The detachable portion has a first configuration in which the detachable portion is fixed to the side portion along perforated lines and fixed and a second configuration wherein the detachable portion is detached from the side portion, such that an opening is provided in said side portion providing access to an interior of the container. The detachable portion is connected to the container along a fourth fold line. The second covering portion has a first configuration covering said detectable part and in which the said at least one flap secures the second covering portion to the container such that the container is sealed. The first covering portion further comprises a top panel, wherein the front panel is attached to the back panel via the top panel with the top panel being attached the front panel along a third fold line and attached to the back panel along another fifth fold line. The second covering portion comprises two side flaps attached to the second covering portion along a pair of fold lines. The container may further comprise extensions at a top portion. The container may further comprise notches at a bottom portion. The extensions in a first container are adopted to be inserted into notches in a second container. The container is formed from one contiguous, foldable sheet of a substantially rigid material. The portion comprising said detectable portion further comprising reinforcement portion. The container may be made of cardboard or plastics.
The invention also relates to a blank of substantially rigid material comprising: a first plurality of contiguous panels joined along a plurality of fold lines and foldable into an open-top box having an upper edge; and a second plurality of contiguous panels attached to the first plurality of foldable panels along a first covering portion fold line and including a plurality of fold lines such that the second plurality of contiguous panels is foldable into the first covering portion and a second covering portion at one end pf the blank, at least one flap extending from said second covering portion along a third fold line, and a portion comprising a perforated part opposite to said end.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION According tone aspect of the present invention, the container is a box having rectangular shape. The box may be made of an elastic material such as plastic or carton. The cartons consist primarily of cardboard, cardboard and/or standard materials such as plastics. The particular choice of material may be determined depending on the requirements of archiving/storing and environment. The boxes, depending on the use, may have different sizes and quality.
Preferably, the box is produced as a sheet element and foldable, and in usable state (filled state) has a rectangular base shape. The box is typically made of a plate-shaped semifinished product, in particular by punching. Depending on the structural design of the carton it may be obtained from a single piece of existing fabrics. This surface structure consists of several parts, which in turn can have incisions and fold edges.
Fig. 1 illustrates a one-piece sheet 10, which when bended constitutes the box in functional state. The sheet 10 consists of several parts, which are arranged in three superimposed rows, four of which are each divided into four columns and one addition piece.
The dashed lines illustrate the folding lines and solid lines cut lines. Rows 1010 and 1020 constitute the side portions (gable) of the box. The side portions comprise openings 1011 , 1012, 1013, 1021 , 1022 and 1023 functioning as handles when the box is assembled. The openings at each row conjunct when the sides of the box are in position. The side portions are provided with extensions 1014 and 1024. These extensions are cut outs, which are prolonged (along the solid line) when the sides are bended along dashed lines.
The middle row 1030 constitutes the bottom 1031 , back 1032, top 1033 and front 1034 sides of the box. The top 1033 side comprises a cover portion 1035. The cover portion 1035 comprises at least one but according to this embodiment two fixing portions 10351 and 10352. The front 1034 comprises an access portion 1037. The bottom portion 1031 is provided with receiving notches 10311 and 10312.
Fig. 2 illustrates a frontal view of the box 10 in functional state, i.e. the sheet 10 is bent into the box 10.
The front of the box is open by lifting the cover portion 1035 and top portion 1033. The cover portion 1035 and access portion 1037 may be provided with notches 10353 and 10371 , respectively, to allow easy displacement of the portions.
The fixing portions 10351 and 10352 of the cover portions are bendable inwards and outwards. When the cover portion is in the covering position, the fixing portions are inserted in the receiving spaces 10341 and 10342, which may be punched out or be space between folded side portions. The side portions may be made with standing fibers or carton channels (in the direction of load) to stand the pressure from the piled boxes.
In operation, the box may be filled using the top portion while the access portion is attached to the side walls. It may also be filled or emptied using the access portion. When the boxes are piled up, the access into the box is through the access portion.
The access portion 1037 may be substantially T-shaped, rectangular, triangular, etc. The shapes of side portions 10345 and 10346 according to this embodiment, i.e. with a wider base portion provide a stable structure, especially when boxes are stacked on top of each other. 10' illustrates part of a second box on the first box 10. Fig. 3 illustrates a side view of a box 10 in an open state, which allows filling the box from an open side 30. Thus, the portion 1033 functions as a lid. Arrows 31 and 32 illustrate rotations of portions and 1033 and 1035. The attachment portion 10352, when the lid closed is inserted in a space 10342 between the side portions.
Fig. 10 illustrates a side view of two piled up boxes 10 and 10'. The extension 1014 of the lower box 10 is inserted into a receiving portion 1016 of the upper box 10'. This allows a secure piling and/or aligning when piling of the boxes. Figs. 4-9 illustrate different functional states of the box. Fig. 4 illustrates a closed box. Fig. 5 illustrates two piled boxes. Figs. 6 and 7 illustrate cover portion folded upwards. Fig. 8 illustrates the box opened through the access portion and a number of binders inside the box. Fig. 9 illustrates the box opened through access portion and allowing taking out a binder from inside the box.
The access portion may also be provided in two sides accessible for a user when boxes are piled up.
The container or the box according to the invention may be used in a storage and archive system. Each container may be provided with a unique number, e.g. a serial number, barcode, QR-code, or the like. When the box arrives at the storage, the number is entered into a database and the unique number is associated with the owner of the box and a position in the storage space. The user may associate the unique number with the content of the box (e.g. in a specific application). Later, when the owner needs to retrieve goods or documents from the box, he may send a message to the storage using the unique number and a description of the goods/documents (or a number associated with the goods/document) and obtain the goods/document. At the storage, the boxes piled on each other do not need to be replied and easy access to the content is achieved.
Some documents such accountancy, may have a limited archiving time. The owner of the box may easily order the storage to destroy the box and its content using the unique number.
