The invention relates to a coil former (13) for a field coil arrangement (11) for insertion into a stator arrangement (9) of a homopolar machine (1), comprising: - one or more coil former parts (16) for receiving an annular field coil (12); and - one or more holding elements (121) which are provided on the one or more coil former parts (16) and are arranged on the coil former parts (16) such that they point radially outward when the coil former parts (16) are fitted on the field coil (12).
