Description
DESCRIPTION
PAD PRINTING METHOD APPLIED TO THE ALUMINIUM ALLOY RIMS Technical Field
The present invention is related to applying pad printing method to the aluminum alloy rims.
The present invention is especially related to pad printing method, wherein said aluminum alloy rims are colored with exciting expressions such as numbers, letters and symbols or with graphics, logos, emblems or figures relating the product identity during production or while the product is being used, or a desired part of said rim is colored without said expressions.
State of Art
The rim is the section within the hoop of the wheel holding the tire. Said rims are the leading products used for personalizing the vehicles. In the state of art, rims made of several materials are provided. Some of them are steel rim, magnesium alloy or aluminum alloy rims.
Said steel rim is produced by cold forming and welding steel sheet materials as two pieces. The total production rate of said magnesium alloy rim is extremely low. However, aluminum alloy rim is the alloy of 90% aluminum and 10% silicon in accordance with the material type along with small differences' The total amount of many other metals such as magnesium and titanium, which form the alloy, is below 1%.
The most preferred alloy rim material is aluminum alloy. Other features of aluminum alloy rim are as follows;
- high capacity of ensuring balance,
- enabling oil saving by decreasing the total vehicle weight as they are lighter than the sheet rims,
- increasing the service lives of tires and brake linings by rapidly transferring the heat occurring in the wheel and brake system,
increasing the handling and vehicle stability,
- having a good adaptation with tubeless tire,
- having more product variety compared to other rims, and
- having an aesthetic and distinguishing appearance.
Said rims comprise labels thereon, which are positioned manually for different purposes during both production stages and factory processes. While some of the labels aim to describe the product identity, the others aim to represent the warning signals. However, said
labels are attached on said rims by means of connectors (like adhesives) with low resistance. Therefore, they are not resistant enough to several climate and usage conditions and exposed to detachment and corrosion. Said condition sometimes leads to removal of the entire label or some part thereof, and elimination of warning signals relating the secured usage of the product, and thereby, causing security risk for the user. In addition, the stain left by the chemical adhering the label does not appeal to the eye and lead to wastes and time loss as the necessity of re-positioning occurs.
As a result of the above mentioned drawbacks and the inadequacies of present solutions for the subject, a development is required for the methods ensuring the positioning of the expressions comprising the identity of the rims or warning signals on the rims in a resistant and long-lasting manner.
Objectives of the Invention
The present invention is related to the pad printing method applied to aluminum alloy rims, which meet the above mentioned requirements, eliminating all the disadvantages and offering some additional advantages. The primary object of the present invention is to apply the text required to express the identity of the rims along with warning signals, numbers, graphics, logos, emblems, figures or symbols by means of the pad printing method using colour. The warning signals printed by means of the pad printing method are protected against environmental effects such as climate changes.
One objective of the present invention is to give color to any desired part of the rim by means of pad printing method without said expressions.
Another objective of the present invention is to increase the visual effect of aluminum alloy rims by means of the pad printing method. Moreover, one characteristic of said visual quality is that it is long lasting on the product.
Yet another objective of the present invention is that the aluminum alloy rims with the pad printing application method aims at increasing user satisfaction.
In order to achieve the above mentioned objectives, the present invention is related to aluminum alloy rims, characterized in that the expressions representing the product identity
or warning signal are applied on aluminum alloy rim by being colored or the desired part of said rim is colored by means of pad printing method without said expressions.
The structural and characteristic features and all the advantages of the present invention will be more clearly understood thanks to the detailed description given below and thus the evaluation needs to be done by taking this detailed description into consideration.
Detailed Description of the Invention In this detailed description, the preferred embodiment's of the pad printing method applied to the aluminum alloy rims are described only for the subject to be better understood without any limiting effect.
The present invention is applying pad printing method on aluminum alloy rims. Thanks to the application of the pad printing technique, the warning signals in the form of number, letter or symbol or the expressions describing the product identity such as graphic, logo, emblem or figure are printed in colour and are resistant and long lasting by nature. Therefore, the expressions on the aluminum alloy rims are not affected by climatic conditions or other external factors and also appeal to the eye.
Another characteristic of the present invention is that the desired part of the rim is colored by means of pad printing method without said expressions. Thus, said rim ensures user satisfaction in terms of visual quality. Aluminum alloy rims have many advantages compared to the other. rims. Therefore, they are the most preferred rims by users. Said product is preferred more, thanks to the fact that the warning signals or the expressions describing the product identity are positioned on said aluminum alloy rims by means of pad printing method. In said pad printing method, the ink transferred on to the block remains only on the outer sections when scraped by a scraper. The pad, consisting of a silicon, however, receives the ink remaining on the printing plate and leaves thereof onto the subject desired to be printed. The major feature of said silicon pad is that it receives the ink easily and transfers it on to the rim perfectly. Said photo-polymer printing plate is a kind of plastic mold; the silicon pad is the mold having the appearance of positive film; scraper (pot) is the blade scraping the excessive ink; which receives the figure from the block and transfers it onto the printing material.
Said pad printing method can be applied on thermoplastics such as plexiglass, perpex, nylon, perlon, polystyrene, polycarbonate and cellulose acetate, PE, PP, EPDM, epoxy materials, melamine surfaces, oven dyed surfaces, cellulosic dyed surfaces, polyurethane surfaces, lacquered surfaces, wooden surfaces, metal surfaces and many different materials and surfaces. Thanks to said method, one or more color/s can be printed on cambered, inclined, hollowed, circular and flat products.
Coloring by means of said pad printing method is performed following the standard dyeing process. The application of said pad printing method along with standard dyeing processes is described below:
- Powder coating + liquid dyeing + pad printing + varnishing
- Powder coating + liquid dyeing + diamond processing + pad printing + varnishing
- Powder coating + liquid dyeing + pad printing
- Powder coating + pad printing + varnishing
- Powder coating + pad printing
