Abstract
The present invention pertains to a pump assembly comprising a suction pump having an inlet for drawing water from a water source in fluid communication with said inlet. Said suction pump comprises an outlet in communication with a pump hose. Said pump assembly further comprises a pump conductor, a pump housing enclosing said suction pump and a protective shield longitudinally enclosing said pump hose together with said pump conductor.
Description
The present invention pertains to a pump assembly to be operated in areas with limited water resources or where no municipal water network is available.
A washing machine and a dishwasher alike require water supply for fulfilling their functions. Water supply is generally provided by city water network through pipelines connected to the respective machine.
In under-developed countries and areas where local water supply is not available, use of a machine of the above type cannot be possible since no appropriate water supply is fed to the machine. To overcome this problem, several prior art references are available offering different solutions.
A prior art reference pertinent in the field of the present invention may be referred to as JP 2010136840, disclosing a washing machine utilizing bath water. However, the system as described is disadvantageous in that it requires installation of a pump within the machine.
Another prior art reference can be referred to as CN 201162135. This publication also discloses a pump unit provided within the household appliance itself and as such is not easily removable, re-mountable and reusable in a compact manner.
The present invention, on the other hand, provides a pump assembly which is separately available and connectible to a household appliance with a washing function. The assembly has the advantage of being of use with a plurality of suitable machines.
The pump assembly according to the present invention is compact in the sense that it easily transforms a suitable machine having normally no water supply into a regular machine capable of fulfilling its function.
The present invention provides a pump assembly as defined in the characterizing portion of Claim 1.
Primary object of the present invention is to provide a pump assembly readily connectible to a household appliance making use of water.
The present invention proposes a pump assembly with a suction pump. Said pump assembly typically has an inlet and an outlet. A pump hose transfers water from said pump to a household appliance in response to operating of the pump assembly by an electronic control unit. Said pump assembly is controlled through an electrical conductor coupled to said electronic control unit.
A pump housing covers and encloses said suction pump and a protective shield longitudinally encloses said pump hose together with said pump conductor in a combined manner, i.e. they are extending side by side in said protective shield having a single open end for effecting connection of said conductor and said hose with said electronic control unit in said household appliance.
Said protective shield accordingly has a connection establishment means having a cable connection end connectible to said electronic control card. Said connection establishment means also contains a water supply end.
Accompanying drawing is given solely for the purpose of exemplifying a pump assembly whose advantages were outlined above and will be explained hereinafter in brief.
The drawings are not meant to delimit the scope of protection as identified in the claims nor should they be referred to alone in an effort to interpret the scope identified in said claims without recourse to the technical disclosure in the description of the present invention.
Fig. 1 demonstrates a schematic view of basic components of a pump assembly according to the present invention.
Referring now to the figure outlined above, the present invention proposes a pump assembly as defined in Claim 1.
The following numerals are assigned to different parts demonstrated in the drawings:
(1) Pump assembly
(2) Suction pump
(3) Pump housing
(4) Inlet
(5) Outlet
(6) Pump conductor
(7) Pump hose
(8) Protective shield
(9) Cable connection end
(10) Water supply end
The present invention proposes a pump assembly (1) having for instance a suction pump (2), i.e. a suction pump (2) for drawing up water from an appropriate reservoir, water tank etc. by means of suction produced by a piston drawn through a cylinder.
The pump assembly (1) of the present invention provides a cheap and practical solution for people receiving no water supply service but possessing household appliances necessitating such municipal services. The suction pump (2) of the invention has an inlet (4) for drawing water from a water source in fluid communication with said inlet (4).
In rural areas in developing or underdeveloped countries, this could be any natural or artificial water source suitable for immersing a suction pump (2). In a simple manner, a tank in which rainwater is collected for domestic use can serve to this purpose.
Said suction pump (2) comprises an outlet (5) in communication with a pump hose (7). Said pump hose (7) typically establishes fluid communication between a water-using household appliance and said suction pump (2). Said pump assembly (1) further comprises a pump conductor (6) for powering said suction pump (2).
According to the invention, a pump housing (3) encloses said suction pump (2) and a protective shield (8) longitudinally encloses said pump hose (7) together with said pump conductor (6). In this manner, a pump assembly (1) having a pump hose (7) and a pump conductor (6) in a combined manner provides a compact solution readily suitable for connection with a water-using household appliance.
Said protective shield (8) has a connection establishment means having a cable connection end (8) connectible to an electronic control card of a water using household appliance and a water supply end (10) in a combined manner such that said suction pump (2) is drivable by said electronic control card of said water using household appliance to draw water through said pump hose (7).
Preferably, said protective shield (8) is provided integrally with said pump housing (3).
The protective shield (8) of the invention longitudinally encloses said pump hose (7) together with said pump conductor (6). Said pump assembly (1) is removable and remountable. It is readily connectible to a washing machine or to a dishwasher.
The pump assembly (1) of the present invention is compact in the sense that it easily transforms a suitable machine having normally no water supply into a regular machine capable of fulfilling its function. This is crucial in some areas in the country of the applicant as consumers, even though they have no access to municipal services which are necessary for using automated laundry treatment machines or dishwashers, still prefer using such machines with available water resources. Limited water resources are hence not wasted as such machines need much less water for operating compared to manual washing.
