- the algorithm makes decision about validity of horizontal and vertical offsets based on their size. If offsets are larger than the dimensions of the block, they are considered invalid. This means the C and/or W blocks contain no edges or that cross- correlation between C and W edges cannot be estimated. In this case the cross-correlation is calculated not for edges but for pixels of C and W blocks. Even in this case certain offsets are not valid, as shown on Figure 7, grayed cells. They are considered as outliers and are replaced by offsets from adjacent blocks.

Abstract
L'invention concerne un système et un procédé permettant de combiner des images basse résolution (LR) capturées par un appareil photo numérique comprenant une pluralité d'ensembles de lentilles avec des filtres de couleurs et une pluralité de capteurs d'images. Certains des imageurs fonctionnent avec des canaux de couleurs Rouge, Vert et Bleu (R, V, B), et l'un des imageurs utilise des éléments de filtre transparents, également appelés filtres de couleur blanche (Bl). Ledit procédé utilise une corrélation entre les canaux R, V, B et Bl en combinaison avec une détection des contours pour composer une image haute résolution (HR) à partir des images LR.
