Definitions
- the present invention relates to a security closure device for a beverage bottle, in particular for an alcoholic beverage bottle.
- One type of known device that performs the guarantee function comprises a hood cap, provided with internal threads mating with an external thread formed on the bottle and connected, by way of a weakened portion, to a sleeve which is angularly and axially restrained to the bottle.
- the first opening of the bottle causes the rupture of the weakened portion: the sleeve remains fixed on the bottle, while the hood cap can be unscrewed and re-screwed for the next use.
- closure device shown in international patent application WO 98/55370, which essentially comprises a hood cap, provided with an internal thread mating with an external thread formed on the bottle neck, and a sleeve connected to the cap by way of a weakening line and angularly and axially restrained to the bottle the internal thread of the cap has a large number of starts and the sleeve is provided with lead-in means mating to corresponding lead-in means on the bottle to angularly orient the cap and the sleeve with respect to the bottle when the cap and the sleeve are axially fitted on the bottle.
- This device like others that are similar, being however effective, are relatively complicated to implement, requiring in particular to provide both the cap and the bottle, as well as a large number of threads, also with alignment members.
- the present invention therefore relates to a security closure device for a beverage bottle, in particular for an alcoholic beverage bottle, as defined, in its essential terms, in appended claim 1 and, in its favourite accessories aspects, in the dependent claims. - -
- the device according to the invention is simple and reliable to use and relatively simple and economical to produce and assemble, as well as fully effective in the closing function and in acting as a guarantee.
- the monolithic piece comprising the cap portion and the sleeve portion may be mounted on the bottle by simple axial movement and snap locking, without requiring a previous orientation of the piece with respect to the bottle which would prevent the threads of the piece and of the bottle from overlapping; in case of overlapping, in fact, the threads of the bottle radially push outside the threads of the piece, elastically deforming the internal lateral wall of the cap portion which supports said threads and that elastically flexes inside the gap formed in the double wall of the cap portion; the elastic deformation of the internal lateral wall is masked by the external lateral wall, and therefore does not affect the appearance nor the overall functionality of the device .
- FIG. 1 is an exploded schematic view and with parts in longitudinal section of a beverage bottle with a security closure device according to the invention
- FIG. 1 is a perspective view of the device of Figure 1.
- Figure 1 a combination of a security closure device 1 and a beverage bottle 2, for example a bottle of liquor or other alcoholic beverage, is shown.
- the bottle 2 for example of glass, extends along an axis X and comprises a neck 3 having a lateral wall 4 and provided with an end opening 5 bounded by an annular edge 6.
- the bottle 2, and precisely the neck 3 comprises a screwing portion 7, next to the opening 5 and provided with an external thread 8, and a fastening portion 9, positioned adjacent to the screwing portion 7 and provided with an axial shoulder 10, defined in particular by a collar 11, for example a continuous radially external annular collar positioned about the neck 3.
- the external thread 8 has a plurality of starts, i.e. has a plurality of threads 12 angularly spaced apart from one another .
- the device 1 comprises a monolithic hollow piece 13 of polymer material (plastic) , substantially tubular and which substantially extends along the axis X between an open axial end 14 and a closed axial end 15 and has a substantially cylindrical lateral wall 16 about the axis X.
- polymer material plastic
- the piece 13 comprises a cap portion 21, a sleeve portion 22 and a weakened breaking portion 23 which connects and joins together the cap portion 21 and the sleeve portion 22.
- the cap portion 21 comprises a double-walled cup body 24, defining an internal gap 25; the body 24 has an internal lateral wall 26 and an external lateral wall 27, coaxial to one another and arranged one inside the other about the axis X and separated by an annular gap 28; the internal lateral wall 26 is arranged radially inside with respect to the external lateral wall 27.
- the body 24 then has an end wall 29, perpendicular to the axis X and which closes the end 15 of the piece 13; the lateral walls 26, 27 project perpendicularly from an internal face 30, facing the gap 25, of the end wall 29; the lateral wall 26 terminates with a free end edge 31, while the lateral wall 27 is joined to the breaking portion 23.
- the internal lateral wall 26 is provided with an internal thread 33, which extends from an inner surface 34 of the lateral wall 26 in the gap 25 and mates with the external thread 8 of the bottle 2 and has in turn a plurality of starts, having a plurality of threads 35 angularly spaced from one another.
- the internal thread 33 formed on the cap portion 21 has a number of starts (i.e. threads 35) greater, for example double, than the external thread 8 formed on the bottle 2.
- the internal lateral wall 26 is a flexible wall, which is so shaped and/or has a thickness such as to be deformable, precisely to bend radially and preferably in an elastic way, as a result of stresses exerted on the inner surface 34 and specifically on the threads 35.
- the lateral wall 26 is joined to the end wall 29 by an annular root edge 36, which defines a flexible hinge 37, preferably an elastic hinge, which allows the lateral wall 26 to bend radially.
- the lateral wall 26 is tapered (i.e. tapers, having decreasing thickness) from the root edge 36 towards the free end edge 31.
- the external lateral wall 27 constitutes a wall portion of the lateral wall 16 of the piece 13 and has an outer surface 38 which forms a covering surface, exposed in use, of the cap portion 21 and is possibly shaped and/or knurled to facilitate gripping by a user.
- the cap portion 21 is also provided with a central sealing collar 39, which protrudes from the face 30 into the gap 25 and is coaxial to the lateral walls 26, 27; the collar 39 is radially arranged inside the internal lateral wall 26 has an axial length (measured parallel to the axis X) below the lateral walls 26, 27; the collar 39 is arranged at a radial distance from the internal lateral wall 26 substantially equal to the thickness of the wall 4 of the neck 3 and is located, in use, inside the opening 5; the collar 39 has an annular sealing edge 40 which, in use, contacts radially an internal lateral surface 41 of the wall 4 of the neck 3, ensuring the fluid tight closure of the bottle 2.
- the sleeve portion 22 extends in turn along and about the axis X and has a lateral wall 42, substantially cylindrical and that constitutes a further wall portion of the lateral wall 16 of the piece 13 and is for example substantially aligned with the external lateral wall 27 of the cap portion 21; the sleeve portion 22 is provided with a radial tooth 43 which projects radially from an internal lateral surface 44 of the sleeve portion 22 to engage, in use, the shoulder 10 of the bottle 2.
- the tooth 43 is defined by an annular, for example circumferentially continuous, projection.
- the internal lateral surface 44 of the sleeve portion 22 is substantially smooth, except for the tooth 43 and possibly other annular projections (circumferential) ; in particular, the surface 44 lacks axial projections acting as members of angular locking and/or of angular orientation between the sleeve portion 22 and the bottle 2.
- the sleeve portion 22 is joined to the cap portion 21 by the breaking portion 23;
- the breaking portion 23 has a substantially cylindrical lateral wall 45 about the axis X, which is another wall portion of the lateral wall 16 of the piece 13 and is substantially aligned with the lateral wall 42 of the sleeve portion 22 and the external lateral wall 27 of the cap portion 21;
- the breaking portion 23 comprises an - - annular strap 46 arranged about the axis X and bounded by a pair of circumferential breaking lines 47, each of which is formed by a succession of aligned cuts 48 angularly spaced apart from one another, formed through the lateral wall 45 and separated by ties 49 that join the strap 46 with the cap portion 21 and the sleeve portion 22;
- the strap 46 has a initial flap 50, adjacent to a window 51 formed through the lateral wall 45 and which allows a comfortable grip by the user.
- the sleeve portion 22 When the piece 13, in use, is mounted on the bottle 2, the sleeve portion 22 is axially bound to the bottle 2 by an axial snap coupling 52, formed by the tooth 43 which axially snap engages the shoulder 10; the internal thread 33 of the cap portion 21 and the external thread 8 of the bottle 2 form a threaded coupling 53 between the cap portion 21 and the bottle 2.
- the internal thread 33 engages or is arranged to engage, depending on the position (orientation) which the piece 13 assumes with respect to the bottle 2 during assembly, the external thread 8 of the bottle 2.
- the breaking portion 23 is ruptured and the strap 46 is removed, separating the cap portion 21 from the sleeve portion 22.
- the sleeve portion 22 remains axially fixed to the bottle 2 by way of the coupling 52; the sleeve portion 22 is instead angularly free with respect to the bottle 2, and therefore is freely rotatable about the axis X with respect to the bottle 2.
- the cap portion 21 is coupled to the bottle 2 by way of the threaded coupling 53 and can then be unscrewed/screwed to open/close the bottle 2.
- the rupture of the breaking portion 23 shows, however, that the device 1 has been certainly opened a first time.
- the monolithic piece 13 is mounted on the bottle 2, through the open end 14, without requiring a pre-orientation of the piece 13 with respect to the bottle 2, but simply by fitting axially (along the axis X) the piece 13 on the neck 3 of the bottle 2, until the tooth 43 snap engages the shoulder 10.
- the piece 13 is arranged with the internal lateral wall 26 of the cap portion 21 (provided with the internal thread 33) in an un-deformed initial position, in which it is arranged to be screwed on the external thread 8 of the bottle 2.
- the threads 35 are, in whole or in part, axially aligned to the threads 12, i.e. the threads 12, 35 are arranged so as to superimpose and overlap during the axial movement of the piece 13 with respect to the bottle 2, the threads 12 of the bottle 2 push radially outside the threads 35 of the piece 13, deforming the internal lateral wall 26 which flexes elastically inside the gap 28 and assumes a deformed position in the gap 28; the deformation of the lateral wall 26 is not visible from the outside, however, being masked by the external lateral wall 27, and therefore does not affect the appearance nor the overall functionality of the device 1; the lateral wall 26 is elastically deformed inside the gap 28 without reaching or deforming the external lateral wall 27; at the next first use, the rotation of the cap portion 21 takes back the threads 35 to properly engage the threads 12 in a normal engagement position and also pushes the internal lateral wall 26 again in the initial undeformed position; - if instead the threads 35 are angularly offset with respect to
