Abstract

The invention relates to systems and methods for improving fuel consumption and reducing emissions of internal combustion engines (210) which burn hydrocarbon fuels. The system comprises a fuel treatment device (10) and an airflow directing device (50) which both serve to reduce emissions and fuel consumption of internal combustion engines, for exemple, vehicle engines. The fuel treatment device (10) is locatable along a fuel supply line (226) to the engine (210). Whereas the airflow directing device (50) is locatable in airflow communication with an air intake port (214) associated with the engine (210), wherein the airflow directing device is configured to facilitate generating turbulence in the air flowing therethrough and to the engine (210).
