Abstract
A brush (1) is described, for delivering and spreading fluids (9) comprising: a supporting structure (3) equipped with connecting means (5) to a fluid container (9); and a plurality of elongated spreading elements (7) placed on at least two parallel rows, wherein such spreading elements (7) have cross-sectional shapes adapted to allow a mutual coupling between spreading elements (7) placed on different rows.
Description
BRUSH FOR DELIVERING AND SPREADING FLUIDS
The present invention deals with a brush for delivering and spreading fluids.
Various types of brushes are known in the art, in particular small-sized brushes, to deliver and spread drugs or nail enamels and similar fluids.
This type of small brushes is commonly made of bristles, or of thin plastic filaments going out of a supporting structure having a circular section: this implies on one hand a scarce delivery of the provided fluid, which is usually completely discharged in a single pass, often not uniformly; and on the other hand, an inaccurate delivery of the fluid itself, which does not completely reach all body parts on which it should be spreaded.
Object of the present invention is solving the above prior art problems, by providing a brush which is able to deliver and spread an amount of fluids which is much greater than the one currently supplied by similar brushes, due to a particular
shape and arrangement of the rows of components of the part used for brushing.
A further object of the present invention is providing a brush as described above, which allows uniformly spreading, and also under difficult positions, the whole fluid which it is aimed to deliver .
The above and other objects and advantages of the invention, as will appear from the following description, are obtained with a brush for delivering and spreading fluids as claimed in claim 1. Preferred embodiments and non-trivial variations of the present invention are the subject matter of the dependent claims.
It is intended that the enclosed claims are an integral part of the present description.
The present invention will be better described by some preferred embodiments thereof, provided as a non-limiting example, with reference to the enclosed drawings, in which:
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of an embodiment of the brush according to the present invention;
- Figure 2 is a detailed view of the final part of the brush of Figure 1;
Figure 3 is a side view of the brush of Figure 1;
Figure 4 is a perspective view of another embodiment of the brush according to the present invention;
Figure 5 is a detailed view of the final part of the brush of Figure 4 ;
Figure 6 is a side, detailed view of a further embodiment of the brush of the present invention;
Figures 7 to 11 are cross sectional views which show various arrangement solutions for the brushing elements and the sectional areas of the supporting body of the brush of the present invention;
Figures 12A to 12D shown, in a front schematic view, various operating steps of the brush of the invention, wherein the cooperation of the spreading elements is shown, together with the situation of the fluid to be delivered in such elements;
Figures 13A to 13D shown, in a side schematic view, various operating steps of the brush of the invention, wherein the cooperation of the
spreading elements is shown, together with the situation of the fluid to be delivered in such elements;
- Figure 14 is a perspective view of the final part of a a further embodiment of the brush according to the present invention;

- Figure 17 is a top view of the brush of Figure 14.
With reference to the Figures, a preferred embodiment of the brush for delivering and spreading fluids according to the present invention is shown and described. It will be immediately obvious that numerous variations and modifications (for example related to shape, sizes, arrangements and parts with equivalent functionality) could be made to what is described, without departing from the scope of the invention as appears from the enclosed claims.
With reference to the Figures, the brush 1 for delivering and spreading fluids 9 of the present invention substantially comprises:
- a supporting structure 3 equipped with connecting means 5 to a fluid container 9; and
- a plurality of elongated spreading elements 7 placed on at least two parallel rows, wherein such spreading elements 7 have such cross sectional shapes as to allow a mutual coupling between spreading elements 7 placed on different rows.
The connecting means 5 are composed, as shown in Figures 1, 3, 4 and 13A, of common fittings, preferably having a circular shape, suitable to be screwed onto mouths of drug bottles, of nail enamel, or of other containers of similar fluids. As clearly appears, due to this unscrewable arrangement, the inventive brush 1 can be used many times, on different types of containers or on containers of the same type, supplied as replacement of brushes 1 placed on existing containers .
The elongated spreading elements 7 are made of a plastic material, in order to replace the common bristles or other equivalent elements: due to the shape of their cross section which is able to be mutually coupled, they allow, as will be better seen below, spreading a greater amount of fluid 9,
in an accurate way and progressively through more than one pass, obtaining relevant qualitative improvements in delivering and spreading the fluid itself.
In particular, the enclosed Figures show some of the embodiments and the arrangements of the various spreading elements, but obviously several other embodiments and arrangements are possible, which depend on the endoperating needs of the inventive brush 1.
As first example shown in Figures 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and from 12A to 12D, the rows of spreading elements 7 can be two, 7', 7''', and the cross-sectional shape of every row 7', 7' ' ' can be triangular with a rounded engagement bit.
As variation of this arrangement, as can be seen in Figure 8, the inventive brush 1 can further comprise at least one further spreading element 7A, 7B placed laterally and oriented perpendicularly with respect to the two rows 7', 1' ' ' : this obviously allows a more complete spreading in all parts of the brush 1.
As other possible, non-limiting variation, shown in Figures 4, 5, 9 and from 13A to 13D, the rows of spreading elements 7 can be three, 7', 7'',
Ί' ' ' , and the cross-sectional shape of the first row T and of the third row 7' ' ' is triangular with rounded engagement bit, while the cross-sectional shape of the second row 1' ' is a rhombus with rounded edges, as can be seen in Figure 9.
As further non-limiting variation, shown in Figures 10 and 11, the rows of spreading elements 7 are four, 7', 7'', 7''', 1' ' ' ' , and the cross- sectional shape of the first row 7' and of the third row V'< j_s triangular with rounded engagement bit, while the cross-sectional shape of the second row Ί" and of the fourth row T ' ' ' is a rhombus with rounded edges.
As regards, instead, the cross-sectional shape of the supporting structure 3, shape which is also relevant for the amount of fluid to be delivered and for the overall sizes of the inventive brush 1, it can have several configurations. Also as a non- limiting example, cross-sectional shapes which are substantially rectangular (Figures 7, 9 and 11), or substantially circular (not shown) , or substantially ellipsoidal (Figures 8 and 10) are disclosed here: it is obvious that all desired types of shape could be adopted for the end
application for which the inventive brush 1 is provided.
In order to increase the amount of fluid available for delivery at every pass, it would also be possible to provide a supporting structure 3 equipped with at least one internal recess (not shown) adapted to contain further fluid 9 to be delivered and spreaded, which can be sucked by the container when the brush 1 is immersed therein, and when a suction pressure is applied to the brush 1 itself. Such recess will provide the chance of spreading the fluid 9 with several passes, instead of the single pass available for prior art brushes.
All above-described variations, and all other ones which could appear evident to the skilled people in the art, can be shaped (as can be seen in Figure 6) so that the more extreme spreading elements 7 on every side of the brush 1 have a shorther length than the spreading elements 7 which are placed in between, thereby obtaining a brush 1 with chamfered ends adapted to reach positions which cannot be reached by brushes with spreading elements 7 of the same length, for example the external nail edges which are rounded, differently from their main body.
Figures 12A to 12D clearly show the operation of the inventive brush 1: once a delivery pressure is exerted on the brush 1, passing from the rest configuration of Figure 12A to the first contact position between the spreading elements 7 of Figure 12B, the spreading elements 7 are mutually approached, moving the fluid 9 contained therein onto their slanted side walls.
Going on with the pressure on the brush 1, the position of Figure 12C is reached, wherein the spreading elements of the two rows (in this case 7' and 7'''), after the contact on the rounded parts, start sliding one over the others, further squashing the fluid 9 and thereby improving its delivery.
The final delivery position of Figure 12D is then reached, wherein the rows of spreading elements 7', 7''' are now almost in contact and the fluid 9 has been almost completely delivered and spreaded: upon a complete contact, obviously, all available fluid 9 will have been uniformly delivered and spreaded.
Figures 13A to 13D show a similar operation to Figures 12A to 12D, this time seen laterally and with a brush 1 equipped with three rows of
spreading elements 7: these Figures clearly show the progressive squashing of the fluid 9 first between a first external row and the central row, and then between the central row and a second external row: this has the further purpose of allowing a delivery in progression, complete, bigger and more efficient, of the fluid 9 extracted from its container.
As other possible, non-limiting variation, shown in Figures 14 to 17, which seems to provide the most satisfactory results, the rows of spreading elements 7 can be three, 7', 7'', 7''', and the cross-sectional shape of all three rows 7', 7'' and η > ' ' j_s a rhombus with rounded edges, showing an external bit-like profile (with radius on the end) which, differently from the otber shown sections, makes the product spreading operation easier, highly reducing the scoring effect. Moreover, the central row 7'' has a length (and therefore a height with respect to the supporting structure 3) which is longer than the length of the side rows 7', 7'': this further increases the product distribution.
Claims
1. Brush (1) for delivering and spreading fluids (9), characterised in that it comprises:
- a supporting structure (3) equipped with connecting means (5) to a fluid container (9) ; and
- a plurality of elongated spreading elements (7) placed on at least two parallel rows, said spreading elements (7) having cross-sectional shapes suitable to allow a mutual coupling between spreading elements (7) placed on different rows.
2. Brush (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the rows of spreading elements (7) are two (7', 7''') and the cross-sectional shape of every row {!', 1''' ) is triangular with a rounded engagement bit.
3. Brush (1) according to claim 2, characterised in that it further comprises at least one further spreading element (7A, 7B) placed laterally and oriented perpendicularly with respect to the two rows (7', Ί'") .
4. Brush (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the rows of spreading elements (7) are three (7', 7'', 1''') and the cross-sectional shape of
the first (7') and of the third (7'") row is triangular with a rounded engagement bit, while the cross-sectional shape of the second row (7'') is a rhombus with rounded edges.
5. Brush (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the rows of spreading elements (7) are three (7', 1' ' , Ί' ' '') and the cross-sectional shape of the three rows (7' , 7'', 1' ' ' ) is a rhombus with rounded edges.
6. Brush (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the rows of spreading elements (7) are three (7', 1' ' , 7''') and a length, namely a height with respect to the supporting structure (3) , of the first (7' ) and of the third {!''') row is shorther that a height of the second, central row (7'').
7. Brush (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the rows of spreading elements (7) are four (7', 7", T", 1"") and the cross-sectional shape of the first (7') and of the third {!''') row is triangular with a rounded engagement bit, while the cross-sectional shape of the second [1 ' ' ) and of the fourth [1'''') row is a rhombus with rounded edges .
8. Brush (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the cross-sectional shape of the supporting structure (3) is substantially rectangular.
9. Brush (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the cross-sectional shape of the supporting structure (3) is substantially circular.
10. Brush (1) according to claim 1, characterised in that the cross-sectional shape of the supporting structure (3) is substantially ellypsoidal.
11. Brush (1) according to any one of the previous claims, characterised in that the supporting structure (3) is equipped with at least one internal recess adapted to contain further fluid (9) to be delivered and spreaded.
12. Brush (1) according to any one of the previous claims, characterised in that the more extreme spreading elements (7) on every side of the brush (1) are shorter than the spreading elements (7) placed between them, thereby making a brush (1) with chamfered ends, suitable to reach positions which cannot be reached by brushes with spreading elements (7) of the same length.
