Abstract

The invention relates to a system and a method to thicken and dehydrate waste streams, said method can be applied to any waste water, of pre-treatment, of post-treatment and osmosis desalination plants, or to any other effluents that can be recovered during the process, by the application of a low-pressure membrane system (1) comprising the following units: a buffer tank (2) where all the streams are collected and mixed, a low-pressure receptacle with membrane modules (3) and reused/recycled elements, a solids recovery unit, and the corresponding piping so that the treated effluent can return to the plant.
