Definitions
- the present invention relates to a rigid adapter which lends itself to quickly and efficiently attaching hoses to bathroom sink taps without the use of tools or inflating pumps as it is not pneumatic. This is an advance over the state of the art as it greatly simplifies the manufacture and use of this device as well as reducing its weight and cost. And it innovates in utilizing its own hydrostatic pressure exerted by the water in favor of the desired seal, making it possible to obtain a completely controlled water jet in any hose connected to it.
- the present universal adapter consists of a cylindrical "L” section sleeve, open at both ends, where a "T” section ring fitted with an elastomer sleeve, shaped in the shape, is mounted on its inside. of a double curvilinear cone.
- An "O ring” seal ring is compressed between the "T” head of said ring and the radial flat end of the largest diameter of the curvilinear funnel fitted to the other end of said sleeve, which are then secured by pins.
- a washer-shaped cap fits on the other end of the sleeve. On this lid are four tabs that close against the taps in which the adapter is used.
- the function of the lid and its tabs is to hold a hygroscopic fabric strip, which swells when wet, previously wrapped over the tap used.
- the pressure exerted by the water column exiting the tap compresses the elastomeric hose against said fabric strip generating a seal high efficiency, and the little water leaking from the universal adapter falls directly into the bathroom sink used.
- a glove can be mounted to the neck of said funnel by snapping or threading, securing a hose long enough to cover the distance between sinks and toilets in a private bathroom, ending in a trigger shower, thus turning the device into a set.
- portable hygienic shower for example.
- the present device attaches directly to the body of the vast majority of private bathroom taps of varying sections, both elliptical and polygonal.
- the faucet used must be open, which is not possible in many public toilets where toilets are also far from the faucets.
- This adapter also features a drawstring lashing system secured to the eyes and controlled by "V" tongs that prevents water pressure from forcing it out of the tap where it is attached, as it ties the device without the need of us, directly into the tap valve, simply by having the cord make a right angle between its inlet and outlet of the teether.
- the curvilinear double cone shape of the elastomer hose ensures its better long-term performance than washer shape, as there would soon be a risk of the washer bore being torn by repetitive stress as this component has a smaller lower diameter taps to be able to enter tightly in order to obtain the desired hydraulic seal.
- Both the sleeve and the inner ring have breather holes to allow air contained within the elastomer hose to escape when
- the inside diameters of the sleeve, ring, funnel and sealing ring are large enough to allow most straight or curved taps of any section to penetrate inside the device.
- this adapter to form a portable hygienic shower set has been cited here, but of course it can have many other applications, such as a portable car wash, boat, or emergency fire kit, among others, as it can have different dimensions to suit different purposes, and what types of taps should fit.
- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the universal adapter for viewing its exterior:
- Figure 2 shows a cross-sectional view of the universal adapter to visualize its interior:
- Figure 3 shows a schematic section of the complete universal adapter mounted on a straight tap to visualize its operation.
- the glove (2) is fixed to the funnel (3) by the pins (14) by pressing tool which has been supported by the mounting bases (9).
- the neck (8) of the funnel (3) is shown with a standard thread ready to receive hose sleeves.
- the cord (7) has knots at its ends to attach it to the eyes (11); "V" clamps (10) lend themselves to retaining the cord (7) as shown as there are right angles between the inlets and outlets of the cord (7) on the clamps.
- the washer-shaped cap (4) has curvilinear grooves (12) whose larger diameter ends allow the flat pin heads (13) to pass through the sleeve (2) by rotating the cap (4).
- the elastomeric sleeve (6) is seen between the tabs (5) which run on the guides (16) retained by the stop pins (15).
- Two breather holes (18) in the sleeve wall (2) allow air to pass through and also drainage of water that may penetrate into the elastomeric sleeve (6).
- Figure 2 shows the elastomeric sleeve (6) which is in the form of a double central curvilinear cone and open cylindrical ends surrounding the inner T-ring (1).
- the edges of the sleeve (6) are water tightly retained on one side pressed between the "T" foot of the ring (1) and the inside of the "L" base (23) of the sleeve (2) and on the other.
- the flat end (22) of the funnel (3) retained under pressure in the sleeve (2) by the pins (14), presses the sealing ring (17) and therefore the foot and head of the ring (1) between the sealing ring (17) and the inner base of the “L” (23) of the sleeve (2) securing the sleeve (6).
- the breather holes (18) and (24) allow air to pass through as well as drainage of water that may penetrate into the interior (33) of the elastomer hose (6).
- the holes (20) of the tabs (5) serve to fit the stop pins (15) and the longitudinal holes (21) outside the base of the "L" (22) of the sleeve (2) serve to fix the flat head pins. (13) that fit into the curvilinear slots (12) of the lid (4).
- the double curved roofs of the guides (16) lend themselves to retaining the tabs (5) allowing their maximum displacements until touched by the stop pins (15). Retaining pins (14) traverse through holes in sleeve (2) until they reach the funnel slots (19) to secure them.
- Figure (3) shows that the tabs (5) running on the guides (16) are closed, as the stop pins (15) are touching the roof of the guides (16).
- These tabs (5) act as a variable extension of the inner diameter of the cap (4) to suit the adapter to different tap sizes (25). Thus they can better compress the hygroscopic fabric strip (32) wrapped around the tap (25).
- the cap (4) is fixed to the sleeve (2) by the flat head pins (13).
- the inside diameter of the elastomer hose (6) tightens against the tap body (25).
- the universal adapter is immobile in the tap (25) since the cord (7) is attached to the valve (26) of the tap (25) tightened by the jaws (10).
- valve (26) When the valve (26) is opened, allowing water to escape from the end (27) of the tap (25) creates hydrostatic pressure that deforms the elastomeric hose (6), expelling air from inside (33) through the vents ( 24) and (18), forcing it against the wet, swollen fabric strip (32), which is compressed against the lid (4) and tongues (5).
- This causes water to be directed to the neck (8) and hose (29) attached by the sleeve (28).
- Just press the trigger (31) and a jet of water will come out of the shower (30), because practically all the water flow was directed there.
- the use of this invention may be, for example, as follows: - A user purchases the set of this universal adapter already assembled with a hygienic shower kit consisting of a hose long enough to reach the toilet and trigger shower to open and close the water flow.
- the cap (4) is then inserted into the tap (25) by closing the tabs (5).
- the hygroscopic cloth strip (32) is wrapped around the tap (25).
- the universal adapter is then inserted into the tap (25) until you feel that the inside diameter of the elastomeric hose (6) has exceeded the end (27) of the tap (25), and that the flat pin heads (13) have engaged into the curvilinear slots (12) of the lid (4) by slightly turning it to secure it.
- the cord (7) is then pulled so as to tighten it by the clamps (10) on the valve (26).
- the valve (26) is closed and the cord (7) is released by loosening it on the jaws (10), removing the universal adapter, taking care to squeeze the trigger (31) to eliminate of water stored in the hose.
