Abstract

The present invention relates to an oven (1) comprising a body (2), a cooking chamber (3) wherein the cooking process is performed, a front wall (4) that surrounds the front side of the cooking chamber (3), a door (5) providing access to the cooking chamber (3), at least one opening (6) arranged on the front wall (4), at least one hinge (7) disposed in the opening (6), providing the door (5) to be connected to the body (2) so as to be opened/closed by rotating around the horizontal axis (A), having a housing (8) fixed to the base of the body (2) by being passed through the opening (6) and a lever (9), one end connected to the housing (8) so as to be pivoted around the horizontal axis (A), the other end to the door (5) and a balancing spring (14), one end connected to the housing (8), the other end to the lever (9).

Description

AN OVEN COMPRISING A DOOR HINGE
The present invention relates to an oven comprising a door hinge.
In ovens, the door providing access to the cooking chamber is generally connected to the oven body from its lower side and is opened by being rotated from the top downwards. The door is connected to the oven body with two hinges. The door hinge comprises a hinge body fixed to the oven body, a lever fixed to the door, a shaft providing the lever to be mounted to the hinge body so as to be pivoted around the horizontal axis and a door balancing spring, with one end fixed to the hinge body, whereto the lever is connected. The shaft providing connection of the lever to the hinge body forms the rotational axis of the door. The oven door is produced with different thicknesses, for example with single glass panel or double glass panel, with respect to various oven models. The thickness of the oven door changing or the oven door being single or double glass paneled result in changing the distance between the rotational axis of the door and the oven body. In the situation of mounting a differently designed door on the body of the oven, without changing the body design, the necessity of using different door hinges arises depending on the changed rotational axis distance, and this causes increase in production costs.
In the United States Patent Applications No. US 2010/281650 A1 and US 2011/095014 A1, the door hinges used in ovens are explained.
The aim of the present invention is the realization of an oven of which production cost is decreased by using identical hinges for different types of doors utilized in different models.
The oven realized in order to attain the aim of the present invention, explicated in the first claim and the respective claims thereof, comprises a door that opens/closes by rotating around the horizontal axis, at least one hinge that provides the door to be connected to the body and a spacer disposed between the housing part of the hinge remaining inside the body and the front wall of the oven body, enabling the use of identical hinges for doors of different types and thicknesses, for example with single layer panel or double layer panel. In model changes in the oven production, the hinge is not required to be changed when doors of different types and thicknesses are connected to the body, it is sufficient to only change the spacers that are of simple structure, having low production and material costs. The spacers are produced with different thicknesses and the spacers having suitable thicknesses can be used for doors having different rotational axis distances from one another with respect to the front wall of the body.
In an embodiment of the present invention, the spacer is provided to be wedged in between the housing and the front wall by means of fastening tabs produced as a single piece with the hinge housing, with known metal forming methods like cutting and bending.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the spacer is produced from polyamide thereby providing ease of production and decreasing material costs.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the spacer is shaped as a square ring and is mounted to the hinge by being easily fitted over the housing.
In another embodiment of the present invention, on the spacer, there are screw holes providing the spacer to be fixed to the oven body together with the hinge, and guides that prevent the spacer from rotating on the housing by bearing against the fastening tabs in the housing.
In the oven of the present invention, when different types of doors with different thicknesses are used, the same type of hinges can be used and production costs are decreased.

The oven (1) comprises a body (2), a cooking chamber (3) wherein the cooking process is performed, a front wall (4) that surrounds the front side of the cooking chamber (3), a door (5) providing access to the cooking chamber (3), at least one opening (6) arranged on the front wall (4) and at least one hinge (7) disposed in the opening (6), providing the door (5) to be connected to the body (2) so as to be opened/closed by rotating around the horizontal axis (A).
The hinge (7) comprises a housing (8) that is fixed to the base of the body (2) by being passed through the opening (6), a lever (9), one end connected to the housing (8) so as to be pivoted around the horizontal axis (A), the other end to the door (5), and a balancing spring (14), one end connected to the housing (8) and the other end to the lever (9).
The oven (1) of the present invention comprises a spacer (10) disposed between the housing (8) and the front wall (4), enabling the hinge (7) to be fixed to the front wall (4) by adjusting the position thereof in the horizontal direction depending on the distance (D) differences between the door (5) rotational axis (A) and the front wall (4) when model change is made during production and a door (5) of different thickness or type, for example single panel instead of double panel, is mounted on the body (2).
The spacer (10) of the present invention enables the use of identical hinges (7) on the same body (2) for various types of doors (5) like single glass panel or double glass panel or having different thicknesses from one another in the production of various oven (1) models. The spacer (10) is disposed between the housing (8) and the front wall (4) and closes the gap formed between the housing (8) and the front wall (4) as a result of changing the distance (D) between the door (5) rotational axis (A) and the front wall (4) and hence the distance between the point wherefrom the housing (8) is fastened to the base of the body (2) and the front wall (4), when the door (5), having different thicknesses from one another or with single panel or double panel, is mounted on the body (2).
The thickness (T) of the spacer (10) is produced by determining the distance between the rotational axis (A) and the front wall (4). When the thickness of the door (5) and hence the distance (D) between the rotational axis (A) and the front wall (4) increases, the thickness (T) of the spacer (10) is decreased, and when the distance (D) between the rotational axis (A) and the front wall (4) decreases, the thickness (T) of the spacer (10) is increased (Figure 2). While producing different oven (1) models, the single type hinge (7) for various types of doors (5), having different thicknesses and the spacers (10) having different thicknesses with considerably low material and production costs are used.
When the door (5), for example having single glass panel instead of double glass panel and hence the rotational axis (A) distance (D) thereof being less than double glass panel door (5), is mounted on the oven (1) body (2), the housing (8) is fixed farther back on the base of the body (2) than the double glass panel door (5), a gap forms between the housing (8) and the front wall (4) and this gap is closed with the spacer (10). Thus, in the situation a single glass panel door (5) is mounted to the same body (2) instead of a double glass panel door (5), a hinge (7) with a different size is not required to be used.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the oven (1) comprises at least one fastening tab (11) disposed on the housing (8), that provides the spacer (10) to be wedged in between the housing (8) and the front wall (4) by bearing against the spacer (10) (Figure 2, Figure 3, Figure 4).
The fastening tab (11) is formed as a single piece with the housing (8), by partially cutting the side wall of the housing (8) in U shape and bending in parallel direction to the front wall (4).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the spacer (10) is produced from hard plastic material, for example from polyamide.
In another embodiment of the present invention, the spacer (10) is shaped as a square ring and is mounted to the hinge (7) by being fitted over the housing (8) (Figure 3, Figure 4, Figure 5).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the spacer (10) comprises at least one screw hole (12) arranged at the level of the fastening tabs (11), providing the spacer (10) to be fixed to the front wall (4) with screws together with the hinge (7) (Figure 5).
In another embodiment of the present invention, the spacer (10) comprises at least one guide (13) bearing against the sides of the fastening tab (11), providing alignment of the screw hole (12) with the fastening tab (11) and preventing the spacer (10) from rotating on the housing (8) (Figure 5).
In the oven (1) of the present invention, when the type of the mounted door (5) on the body (2) is changed, for example when a single panel door (5) is used instead of a double panel door (5) by making change of model during production, a hinge (7) with different size is not required to be used and identical hinges (7) are used commonly for doors (5) of different types and thicknesses, thereby decreasing production costs.

Claims (8)

  1. An oven (1) comprising a body (2), a cooking chamber (3) wherein the cooking process is performed, a front wall (4) that surrounds the front side of the cooking chamber (3), a door (5) providing access to the cooking chamber (3), at least one opening (6) arranged on the front wall (4), at least one hinge (7) disposed in the opening (6), providing the door (5) to be connected to the body (2) so as to be opened/ closed by rotating around the horizontal axis (A), having a housing (8) fixed to the base of the body (2) by being passed through the opening (6) and a lever (9), one end connected to the housing (8) so as to be pivoted around the horizontal axis (A), the other end to the door (5), characterized in that a spacer (10) disposed between the housing (8) and the front wall (4), enabling the hinge (7) to be fixed to the front wall (4) by adjusting the position thereof in the horizontal direction depending on the distance (D) differences between the door (5) rotational axis (A) and the front wall (4).
  2. An oven (1) as in Claim 1, characterized in that the spacer (10), the thickness (T) of which is determined depending on the distance between the rotational axis (A) and the front wall (4).
  3. An oven (1) as in Claim 1 or 2, characterized in that at least one fastening tab (11) disposed on the housing (8), providing the spacer (10) to be wedged in between the housing (8) and the front wall (4) by bearing against the spacer (10).
  4. An oven (1) as in Claim 3, characterized in that the fastening tab (11) that is formed as a single piece with the housing (8), by partially cutting the side wall of the housing (8) in U shape and bending in parallel direction to the front wall (4).
  5. An oven (1) as in any one of the above Claims, characterized in that the spacer (10) that is produced from plastic material.
  6. An oven (1) as in any one of the above Claims, characterized in that the square ring shaped spacer (10) that is mounted to the hinge (7) by being fitted over the housing (8).
  7. An oven (1) as in any one of the above Claims, characterized in that the spacer (10) comprising at least one screw hole (12) arranged at the level of the fastening tabs (11), providing the spacer (10) to be fixed to the front wall (4) with screws together with the hinge (7).
  8. An oven (1) as in any one of the above Claims, characterized in that the spacer (10) comprising at least one guide (13) that bears against the sides of the fastening tab (11).
