Abstract

The invention relates to a multi-phase direct current converter for transporting energy between two networks, comprising several converter circuits, each converter circuit having at least one controllable switch element (M1, M3, M5) and a choke (L1, L2, L3), also comprising regulating or control means (1), a PWM generator for each converter circuit for producing a PWM signal for controlling the first controllable switch element of the associated converter circuit. The PWM generators are designed and configured to produce PWM signals so that the first circuit elements (M1, M3, M5) of the converter circuits can be activated with different phases. The multi-phase direct current converter comprises for each converter circuit, a current sensor (5, 6, 7) for detecting a current through the choke (L1, L2, L3) of the converter circuit or a current emulator for emulating a current through the choke (L1, L2, L3) of the converter circuit and each converter circuit comprises a regulating unit which is connected to the regulating or control means (1) and to the current sensor (5, 6, 7) associated with the converter circuit (5, 6, 7) or current emulator and the PWM generator associated with the converter circuit. The regulating units are designed and configured to regulate the current through the choke (L1, L2, L3) of the associated converter circuits.
