Definitions

  • the present invention relates to the field of communications technologies, and in particular, to a management method and apparatus before and after an expired billing package.
  • Prepaid users can purchase multiple billing packages, each of which has an expiration date, that is, it is used within the valid period. After the expiration date, the current package is not available, and a new package is required. Moreover, the operator usually prompts the user before the new package is enabled, such as: "The old package expires, the new package is enabled", and after the user chooses to enable it, the fee is deducted from the new package.
  • a management method for a billing package that is commonly used in the prior art before and after the expiration includes:
  • Step 101 The online charging system (OCS, Online Charging System) receives the gateway general wireless radio service support node (GGSN, Gateway GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) Support Node every time the old package is about to expire. After the sent credit control request (CCR, Credit Control Request), the remaining validity period of the old package is calculated and the timing of the next re-authorization credit control request CCR of the GGSN is controlled by the Validity Timer (VT) parameter to ensure the GGSN. Send CCR to OCS 5 minutes before the expiration; Step 102: GGSN sends CCR to OCS at 5 minutes from the time when the old package expires;
  • OCS Online Charging System
  • Step 103 After receiving the CCR, the OCS sends a credit control response (CCA, Credit Control).
  • CCA Credit Control
  • the CCA includes: zero quota and redirect address
  • Step 104 The GGSN receives the CCA sent in step 103, performs redirection processing according to the redirected address, redirects the user to the reminder page, and provides the reminder information to the user.
  • Step 105 The GGSN sends the CCR to the OCS again due to quota exhaustion;
  • Step 106 The OCS receives the CCR in step 105, and sends a CCA to the GGSN, where the CCA includes: a short VT for controlling the duration of the redirection;
  • Step 107 After the GGSN receives the CCA in step 106, after a brief VT timeout, the GGSN sends a CCR to the OCS;
  • Step 108 After receiving the CCR in step 107, the OCS sends a CCA to the GGSN, where The CCA includes: the timeout point of the old package, and the quota in the new package;
  • the dotted line in Figure 1 is used to divide the old package before and after the expiration, and the above-mentioned operation steps occur before the old package expires.
  • Step 109 After the GGSN receives the CCA sent in step 108, the user can continue to access the service, and the GGSN reports the consumption information of the new and old packages to the OCS through the CCR after the old package expires;
  • Step 110 OCS deducts the consumption of the old package from the old package before the time limit, and deducts the consumption after the old package expires from the new package.
  • the OCS calculates the CCR after receiving the CCR sent by the GGSN every time the old package is about to expire.
  • the remaining VT of the old package is used to ensure that the GGSN sends the CCR to the OCS 5 minutes before the expiration. Therefore, the OCS repeatedly calculates the VT occupied resources multiple times during the period when the old package is approaching the expiration.
  • the CCA message transmitted between the OCS and the GGSN due to the network delay relationship, usually the GGSN starts the VT timer after receiving the CCA, and the actual timeout point in the GGSN is delayed more than the OCS expected timeout period. If the reminder time is set at the actual time of the package expiration, the consequences are: Since the VT delay causes the user to actually use the old package, the user can still use the quota in the old package. Therefore, the reminder time must be 5 minutes in advance, and at this time, because the package is valid for 5 minutes, the terminal customer may doubt the timing accuracy of the operator.
  • the settlement is also calculated between the old and new packages, and the billing process is highly complex, and various abnormal scenarios are difficult to handle. For example, after the overdue reminder is over, the quota for the subsequent quotas of the online billing user can only come from the same package, that is, the new package. Since the timeout period of the old package has not arrived, after the user uses it, the OCS needs to distinguish which package from which the actual quota consumption is to be deducted. The processing is complicated.
  • OCS has to carry out the cross-package settlement of the fee, more serious if the new package signing information specifies the use
  • the starting time must be in the old package overdue point After that, the OCS had to abandon the deduction of the portion of the old package that exceeded the old package quota limit before the old package expired.
  • the embodiment of the invention provides a management method and device for the pre- and post-period of the billing package, which can reduce the number of VTs remaining in the OCS in calculating the remaining package, and accurately control the CCR to be reported by the GGSN when the old package expires. Reduce the number of messages between OCS and GGSN.
