Description
Katalysator zur Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Verbindungen in der Gasphase
Die Erfindung betrifft einen Katalysator zur Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Verbindungen in der Gasphase.
Aus WO2006122563 ist ein Verfahren zur kontinuierlichen hetero- gen-katalysierten Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Verbindungen, in der Gasphase bekannt. Als Katalysator dient dabei ein Metall der Gruppe VIII des Periodensystems, vorzugsweise Rhodium, gelöst in einer ionischen Flüssigkeit und immobilisiert auf einem Trägermaterial. Dieser Katalysator, auch SILP {supported ionic liquid phase) Katalysator genannt, ist an normaler Atmosphäre nicht stabil. Er zersetzt sich an Luft vergleichsweise schnell und weist daher nach Befüllen eines Reaktors in herkömmlicher Art und Weise nur noch geringe oder keine Aktivität mehr auf. Um dies zu vermeiden muss der Katalysator unter Kohlenmonoxid Atmosphäre in den Reaktor überführt werden, was in technischem Maßstab nicht praktikabel ist.
Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung ist es einen Katalysator für die heterogen-katalysierte Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Verbindungen zur Verfügung zu stellen, der die vorgenannten Nachteile eines SILP-Carbonylierungs-Katalysators nicht aufweist.
Die Aufgabe wird gelöst durch einen Katalysator bestehend aus einem unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung aktiven Metallkomplex und einem unter Normalbedingungen festen und unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung flüssigen orga- nischen Salz auf einem porösen inerten Trägermaterial.
Bei dem Metallkomplex handelt es sich um eine hinsichtlich der Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Substanzen aktive ÜbergangsmetallVerbindung oder eine unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung in eine aktive Übergangsmetall erbindung zu
überführende Vorstufe einer derartigen Verbindung. Derartige Metallkomplexe sind in WO2006122563 offenbart, insoweit wird auf die dortige Offenbarung beispielsweise auf S. 4 Z. 31 bis S. 5. Z. 6 Bezug genommen. Bevorzugt sind Verbindungen der Übergangsmetalle Rhodium und Iridium, besonders bevorzugt sind Rhodiumverbindungen. Beispiele für insbesondere geeignete Rhodiumverbindungen sind RhCl3 x H20, [Rh (CO) 2C1] 2 , RhBr3 x H20,
[Rh(CO}2Br] 2l Rh(CO)2I]2, [Rh{OAc)2]2 und [Rh (CO) 2 (acac) ] 2. (OAc bedeutet Acetatrest, Acac bedeutet Acetylacetonatrest}
Bei dem unter Normalbedingungen festen und unter den Reaktions- bedingungen der Carbonylierung flüssigen organischen Salz handelt es sich vorzugsweise um ein Phosphoniumsal mit einem Schmelzpunkt zwischen 120 und 200 °C, bevorzugt um ein quarter- näres Phosphoniumsal mit vier unabhängig voneinander ausgewählten aliphatischen oder aromatischen Resten mit 1 bis 20 C Atomen mit einem Schmelzpunkt zwischen 120 und 200 °C. Alle Temperatu angaben wurden bestimmt bei einem Druck von 0,1 MPa. Unter Normalbedingungen sind im Sinne der vorliegenden Erfin- d ng eine Temperatur von 25 °C und ein Druck von 0,1 MPa zu verstehen.
Bei den aliphatischen oder aromatischen Resten mit 1 bis 20 C Atomen handelt es sich bevorzugt um Methyl-, Ethyl-, Propyl-, iso-Propyl-, Butyl-, iso-Butyl™, tert-Butyl-, Pentyl-, Hexyl-, Heptyl-, Octyl-, Allyl-, Phenyl-, Toluyl-, Xylyl-, Kaphthyl-, oder Benzyl-Reste .
Beispiele für derartige organische Salze sind Methyltriphenylp- hosphoniumiodid, Ethyltriphenylphosphoniumiodid, Tripropylme- thylphosphoniumiodid, Tributylmethylphosphoniumiodid und Tetra- butylphosphoniumiodid .
Bei dem Trägermaterial für den erfindungsgemäßen Katalysator handelt es sich um poröse und unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung inerte Materialien. Beispiele für derartige
Trägermaterialien sind Si02, Al203, Ti02. Bevorzugt handelt es sich ura Si02, besonders bevorzugt um pyrogen erzeugte Si02 sowie daraus hergestellte Formkörper. Derartige Formkörper sind bereits in WO 2008/071612 beschrieben. Insoweit wird auf die dor~ tige Offenbarung beispielsweise auf S. 4 Z. 30 bis S. 17 Z. 14 Bezug genommen. Die Trägermaterialien können in jeder für Katalysatoren bekannten Form vorliegen, beispielsweise als Pulver, Granulat oder als Formkörper wie Stränge, Zylinder, Pellets, Ringe, Multi-Loch-Ringe, Kugeln, Sattelkörper, Räder, Sessel, Schaumkörper oder Waben, besonders geeignet sind zylindrische
Extrudate wie Zylinder oder Ringe. Die Katalysatorträger können über verschiedene Formgebungstechniken, wie zum Beispiel Extru- sion, Agglomeration, Granulation, Pressen oder Pelletieren gewonnen werden. Der poröse Katalysatorträger kann auch auf einem nicht porösen Trägerköper als Schicht aufgetragen sein. Der daraus resultierende Schalenkatalysatorformkörper (katalytisch aktive Komponente aus SILP Katalysator, ionischer Flüssigkeit und porösem SILP-Katalysatorträger auf einem unporösen Formkörper) wird dann wie ein Vollkatalysatorformkörper behandelt.
Der Katalysator kann hergestellt werden wie z.B. in
WO2006122563 offenbart, insoweit wird auf die dortige Offenbarung insbesondere auf S. 13 Z. 4 bis Z. 14 Bezug genommen. Die Herstellung des Katalysators erfolgt bevorzugt durch gleichzeitiges oder sequentielles Aufbringen der hinsichtlich der Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Substanzen aktiven Übergangsmetallverbindung oder einer unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung in eine aktive ÜbergangsmetallVerbindung zu überführende Vorstufe einer derartigen Verbindung und des unter Normalbedingungen festen und unter Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung flüssigen organischen Salzes unter Zuhilfenahme eines Lösungsmittels auf ein poröses Trägermaterial und anschließender Entfernung des Lösungsmittels.
Beispiele für Lösungsmittel sind Wasser oder organische Lösungsmittel wie beispielsweise Methanol, Ethanol, Propanol, Aceton, Diethylether, Tetrahydrofuran, Essigsäure, Acetonitril und Dimethylformamid, wobei Methanol und Essigsäure als Lö- sungsmittel für die Aufbringung der Komponenten bevorzugt sind.
Die Erfindung betrifft ferner ein Verfahren zur Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Substanzen unter Einsatz des erfindungsgemäßen Katalysators .
Das erfindungsgemäße Verfahren wird in der der Gasphase in der Weise durchgeführt, dass die Reaktionsgase bestehend im wesentlichen aus Kohlenmonoxid, der carbonylierbaren Substanz sowie einem Promotor gasförmig mit dem festen Katalysator in Kontakt gebracht werden. Neben den genannten Komponenten können weitere Komponenten wie beispielsweise Verunreinigungen der Edukte oder Nebenprodukte, die sich im Falle eines technisch gängigen
KreislaufVerfahrens angereichert haben wie z.B. Wasser, Essigsäure, Essigsäuremethylester, Dirnethylether, Stickstoff, Was- serstoff, Methan oder Kohlendioxid in den Reaktionsgasen vorhanden sein.
Bevorzugte carbonylierbare Substanzen sind Alkohole, besonders bevorzugt ist Methanol. Bevorzugte Promotoren sind organische Iodide, besonders bevorzugt ist Iodmethan.
Der Anteil an carbonylierbarer Substanz in der Gasphase beträgt vorzugsweise 0,1 bis 50 mol%, besonders bevorzugt 5 bis 20 mol%. Der Anteil an Promotor in der Gasphase beträgt vorzugs- weise zwischen 0,1 und 50 mol%, besonders bevorzugt 1 bis 10 mol%. Der Rest auf 100 mol% ist Kohlenmonoxid sowie ggf. vorhandene Verunreinigungen oder im Falle eines Kreislaufverfahrens auch angereicherte Nebenprodukte. Die Carbonylierung erfolgt bei einer Temperatur zwischen 100 und 300°C, bevorzugt zwischen 150 und 250°C sowie unter Reakti-
onsüberdrücken zwischen 0,1 und 10 MPa, bevorzugt zwischen 0,5 und 5 MPa, besonders bevorzugt zwischen 1 und 3 MPa. Unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung sind im Sinne der vorliegenden Erfindung diese Temperatur und Druckbedingungen zu verstehen.
Das Verfahren wird entweder mit einfachem Durchtritt der Reaktionsgase durch den Reaktor oder als Kreisgasverfahren betrieben, bevorzugt wird das Verfahren als Kreisgasverfahren betrie- ben. Die Befüllung des Reaktors mit dem er indungsgemäßen Katalysator kann dabei unter Luftzutritt erfolgen, eine Kohlenmono- xid Atmosphäre wie für einen herkömmlichen SILP- Carbonylierungs- atalysator essentiell ist nicht erforderlich. Die folgenden Beispiele dienen der weiteren Erläuterung der Erfindung :
Trägermaterial
Die Trägermaterialien aus pyrogener Kieselsäure wurden herge- stellt wie in WO2008071612 Beispiel 21 beschrieben. Das Träger- material weist eine spezifische Oberfläche nach BET von 203 m3 g"1 (bestimmt gemäß DIN 66131 durch Stickstoffphysisorption) und ein Porenvolumen 0,76 mL g"1 auf. Das Material wurde durch Mahlung und fraktionierte Siebung auf eine Korngrößenverteilung von 100 bis 250 pm eingestellt.
Vergleichsbeispiel
Zur Herstellung des Katalysators wurde eine entsprechende Menge der Rhodiumverbindung Di^-iodo-tetracarbonyldirhodium ( I) und der ionischen Flüssigkeit l-Butyl-3-methylimidazoliumiodid mit einem dem Porenvolumen des porösen Trägermaterials entsprechenden Volumen an Methanol auf das Trägermaterial imprägniert und das Methanol im Vakuum bei 0,1 mbar und 60 °C für 12 h entfernt. Der so hergestellte Katalysator wies einen Rhodiumanteil
von 2,45 Gew.-% und einen Porenfüllgrad an organischem Salz von 42, 0 Vol. -% auf.
Zur Untersuchung wurden 250 mg des beschriebenen Katalysators mit 100 NmL/min eines Gasgemischs bestehend aus 10,6 ol-% Me- thanol und 2,0 Mol-% lodmethan in Kohlenmonoxid mit 8,7 Mol-% Methan als internen Standard in einem Titan-Reaktor mit 4 mm Innendurchmesser bei einer Temperatur von 190 °C und einem Reaktionsüberdruck von 20 bar zur Reaktion gebracht. Die Analyse der Produkte erfolgte mittels GasChromatographie .
Die dabei mit dem Katalysator im stationären Betrieb erzielten Raum- eit-Leistung der Summe der Acetyl-Spezies (Essigsäure + Essigsäuremethylester} gerechnet als Essigsäure lag zwischen 1000 und 1500 gAcoH Lcat"1 h"1. Erfindungsgemäßes Beispiel
Zur Herstellung des Katalysators wurde eine entsprechende Menge der Rhodiumverbindung Di- -chloro-tetracarbonyldirhodium (I) und dem hochschmelzenden organischen Salz Methyltriphenylphosphoni- umiodid mit einem dem Porenvolumen des porösen Trägermaterials entsprechenden Volumen an Methanol auf das Trägermaterial imprägniert und das Methanol im Vakuum bei 0,1 mbar und 60 °C für 12 h entfernt. Der so hergestellte Katalysator wies einen Rhodiumanteil von 2,2 Gew.-% und einen Porenfüllgrad an organischem Salz von 49,1 Vol.~% auf.
Zur Untersuchung wurden 250 mg des beschriebenen Katalysators mit 100 NmL/min eines Gasgemischs bestehend aus 10,6 Mol-% Methanol und 2.0 Mol-% lodmethan in Kohlenmonoxid mit 8,7 Mol-% Methan als internen Standard in einem Titan-Reaktor mit 4 mm Innendurchmesser bei einer Temperatur von 190 °C und einem Re- aktionsüberdruck von 20 bar zur Reaktion gebracht. Die Analyse der Produkte erfolgte mittels Gaschromatographie.

der im Vergleichsbeispiel mit dem Katalysator auf Basis einer konventionellen ionischen Flüssigkeit erzielten Raum-Zeit- Leistung ,
Claims
Katalysator für eine heterogen-katalysierte Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Verbindungen bestehend aus einem unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung aktiven Metallkomplex und einem unter Normalbedingungen festen und Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung flüssigen organischen Salz auf einem porösen inerten Trägermaterial.
Katalysator gemäß Anspruch 1, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Metallkoraplex eine hinsichtlich der Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Substanzen aktive Übergangsmetallverbin- dung oder eine unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung in eine aktive Übergangsmetallverbindung zu überführende Vorstufe einer derartigen Verbindung ist.
Katalysator gemäß Anspruch 2, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Metallkomplex eine Verbindungen der Übergangsmetalle Rhodium und Iridium, besonders bevorzugt eine Rhodiumverbindung ist.
Katalysator gemäß Anspruch 3, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die Rodiumverbindung ausgewählt ist aus der Gruppe RhCl3 x H20, [Rh (CO) aCl] 2, RhBr3 x H20, [Rh (CO) 2Br] 2 , Rh (CO) 3 I ] 2 ,
[Rh(OAc)2] 2 und [Rh{CO) 2 (acac) ] 2.
Katalysator gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 4 dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das organischen Salz ein Phosphoni- umsalz mit einem Schmelzpunkt zwischen 120 und 200 °C ist.
Katalysator gemäß Anspruch 5, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Phosphoniumsalz Methyltriphenylphosphoniumiodid,
Ethyltriphenylphosphoniumiodid, Tripropylmethylphosphoni- umiodid, Tributylmethylphosphoniumiodid oder Tetrabutylp- hosphoniumiodid ist.
7. Katalysator gemäß einem der Ansprüche 1 bis 6 dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Trägermaterial ein poröses und unter den Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung inertes Material ist .
8. Katalysator gemäß Anspruch 7, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass das Trägermaterial ausgewählt ist aus der Gruppe Si02, A1203, Ti02 und es sich bevorzugt um Si02/ besonders bevorzugt um pyrogen erzeugtes Si02 handelt.
9. Verfahren zur Herstellung eines Katalysators gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 8, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass eine hinsichtlich der Carbonylierung carbonylierbarer Substanzen aktive Übergangsmetallverbindung oder eine unter den Reak- tionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung in eine aktive Über- gangsmetallverbindung zu überführende Vorstufe einer derartigen Verbindung und eine unter Normalbedingungen festes und unter Reaktionsbedingungen der Carbonylierung flüssiges organisches Salz unter Zuhilfenahme eines Lösungsmit- tels auf ein poröses Trägermaterial aufgebracht wird und das Lösungsmittel anschließend entfernt wird.
10. Verfahren zur Carbonylierung carbonylierbarere Verbindungen in der der Gasphase bei dem Reaktionsgase beste- hend im wesentlichen aus Kohlenmonoxid, der carbonylierba- ren Verbindung sowie einem Promotor bei einer Temperatur zwischen 100 und 300°C, bevorzugt zwischen 150 und 250°C sowie unter einem Reaktionsüberdruck zwischen 0,1 und 10 MPa, bevorzugt zwischen 0,5 und 5 MPa, besonders bevorzugt zwischen 1 und 3 MPa mit einem festen Katalysator in Kontakt gebracht werden, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass es sich um einen Katalysator gemäß Anspruch 1 bis 8 handelt.
11. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 10 dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass die carbonylierbare Verbindung ein Alkohol bevorzugt Methanol ist.
12. Verfahren gemäß Anspruch 10 oder 11, dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Promotor ein organisches lodid, bevorzugt Iodmethan ist.
