Abstract

A cardboard box, a blank having a base (1), flaps (2) extending from each side of the base, tabs (2a) connected to the flaps over secondary folding lines (4) forming the corners of the box and cutouts (2b) in the flaps, complementary to the tabs, a method and an apparatus for erecting the box from the blank. The blank is folded by fixed folding means (6) co-operating with a reciprocating mould (5), this causing the elevation of said flaps and the folding of said tabs into said coutouts to form the respective side walls of the box, each flap is mechanically connected to an adjacent and consecutive flap by means of staples (S) applied over close respective cuts (C) between the tabs and the flaps proper and closed on the flaps, said staples being thus applied onto flat portions of the side walls.
