Abstract

A pipe connector fitting shaped to receive a pipe, the connector fitting comprising a fitting body (1), an O-ring (2), a spacer (3), a grip ring (4), an assembly insert (5), a stopper (6, 21) and a nut (7a, 7b), the arrangement being such that when assembled, a pipe may be pushed into the fitting until it is against the stopper ridge and will be sealed by the O-ring and held against withdrawal by the grip ring.

Claims

AMENDED CLAIMS received by the International Bureau on 31 May 2013 (31.05.2013)
1. A pipe connector fitting shaped to receive a pipe, the connector fitting comprising a fitting body, an O-ring, a spacer, a grip ring, an assembly insert with a ridge in which the leading edge of the ridge is tapered and the trailing edge of the ridge is at 90 degrees, a stopper and a re-useable nut having internal teeth with a tapered shoulder end, that will push the tapered shoulder of the reuse nut against the taper on the insert and this will push the teeth of the reuse nut radially inwards into the soft pipe, the anangement being such that when assembled, a pipe may be pushed into the fitting until it is against the stopper and will be sealed by the O-ring and held against withdrawal by the grip ring.
2. A pipe connector fitting as claimed in claim 1 in in which the re-usable nut is turned outward so that the taper pushes against the insert, pushing teeth into the pipe.
3. A pipe connector fitting as claimed in claim 1 or 2 which can be detached for reuse by loosening the re-usable nut, removing the stopper and then screwing the re-usable nut back into the fitting body.
4. A pipe connector fitting as claimed in any of the preceding claims in which the assembly insert has several half depth slots there in.
5. A pipe connector fitting as claimed in any of the preceding claims in which the assembly insert has a single through slot there in.

A pipe connector fitting as claimed in any of the preceding claims in which the assembly insert has a key ridge at right angles to the circumferential ridge and in which the body has a corresponding key way, the arrangement being such that when the assembly insert is in position the key ridge engages with the key way and the insert is prevented from turning.
7. A pipe connector fitting as claimed in any of the preceding claims in which the re-use nut has a smooth internal diameter.

A pipe connector fitting as claimed in any of the preceding claims in which there is no spacer before the grip ring and only O-rings are used such that the O-ring will push agains the grip ring exerting an extra force against the grip ring thus increasing the clamping force of the grip ring on the pipe.
9. A pipe connector fitting as claimed in any of the preceding claims in which the re-use nut, spacer and grip ring are split.

A pipe connector fitting as claimed in any of the preceding claims in which the mouth of the fitting body is divided in two zones, an attachment or holding zone and a sealing zone, the attachment or holding zone consisting of parts that will hold and clamp the pipe to the fitting body ensuring that the pipe cannot be separated from the fitting body and the sealing zone consists of parts that will ensure proper sealing of the pipe and the fitting body ensuring a water tight seal between pipe and fitting.
1 1. A pipe connector fitting as claimed in claim 10 where the sealing zone consists of a combination of O-rings and /or spacers.
12. A pipe connector as claimed in claim 11 in which The O-ring is not round but an x-ring, a square-ring or delta-ring .
13. A pipe connector as claimed in claim 12 in which the configuration can be of any order with any amount of O-ring/spacer combinations such that the O-rings and or spacers replace the holding socket or reduce the length of holding socket.
14. A pipe connector fitting substantially as herein described with reference to the accompanying drawings.
