Abstract

The invention relates to a method for drying a fuel cell (3) in a fuel cell system (1) comprising an electric energy accumulator (9), the fuel cell (3) being operated as an electrolyzer in order to dry the fuel cell (3). The invention is characterized in that operation of the fuel cell (3) as an electrolyzer during a standstill of the fuel cell system (1) is started using electric power from the electric energy accumulator (9) as soon as a measured temperature drops below a given limit.
