Abstract

The utility model relates to labels with a metal layer, wherein said utility model has an appearance of a metal plate. The label with a layer of a metal foil according to the claimed utility model is made of a composite material. It additionally comprises at least one more layer of a metal foil with a thickness up to 0.06 mm, and at least one layer of non-metallic material with a thickness up to 0.08 mm. The objective of the present utility model is creating a highly plastic label with printed image having clear embossing or relief stamping as a result of using the composite material, and on which a decorative coating can be applied, wherein it is possible to vary the thickness of the label by combining layers of different materials. As a result of the new properties of the claimed labels, it is also possible to accelerate the process of attaching said labels to products without jams or tears on automated lines.

Description

SELF-ADHESIVE LABEL
The utility model relates to labels with a metal layer looking like a metal plate.
A label for bottles and containers made of aluminum foil and embossed is disclosed in prior art [RU 20041 1315 A, G09F 3/02, 2005].
Aluminum foil used in said label is solid and not flexible. It is impossible to get clear embossing on a thin foil, and it is destroyed during the attachment of the labels with an adhesive. If a thicker foil is used, it will not keep the label shape on a round container.
Labels comprising at least two layers of metal foil and at least one layer of non-metallic material are disclosed in prior art. These labels have a relatively great thickness: the thickness of each layer of metal foil is above 70 microns, and the thickness of a non-metallic material is more than 15 microns. The labels have a substrate made of paper, and they are attached to products manually. The disadvantage of these labels is that they cannot be applied at a high speed because of their relatively large thickness, which does not allow them being rolled on a tape used on the lines of automatic labeling.
The purpose of the present utility model is to provide a highly plastic label made of a composite material which can be covered with a printed image, with embossing or relief stamping. Said material can have a decorative coating, wherein the labels can have different thickness by combining layers of different materials. The new properties of the claimed label allow accelerating the process of label attachment to products without jams or tears.
The purpose is achieved by using the label according to the utility model. The label comprising a layer of metal foil is made of a composite material. It additionally comprises at least one more layer of metal foil with a thickness up to 0.06 mm, and at least one layer of non-metallic material with a thickness up to 0.08 mm.
The metal foil can be made of an aluminum material. Material for a non-metallic layer can be selected from polyethylene, polypropylene, polyvinyl chloride, polyethylene terephthalate.
The most preferred embodiment of the label contains two layers of aluminum foil with a layer of polyethylene between them.
The back side of the label is covered with a glue of fixed or variable adhesiveness. Labels coated with an adhesive coating are placed on a continuous carrier substrate, which is wound with labels into a roll (reel) or stacked in a zigzag form.
The substrate material has paper or synthetic base covered with a special antiadhesive coating that prevents strong bonding of the label with the carrier substrate. Preferably the substrate is made of a synthetic material (polyethylene terephthalate (PET) or polypropylene (PP)) which allows applying labels on products with maximum efficiency (up to 60,000 labels per hour).
The label can have color printing, embossing or relief stamping on the front side, and also monochrome or multicolor image can be applied.
A decorative film, a layer of toning or protecting varnish can be applied to the front side of the label.
The most preferred variant of the label has a metal foil layer having thickness up to 0.05 mm and a layer of non-metallic material having thickness up to 0.01 mm.
Using the proposed label comprising at least two layers of metal foil and at least one layer of non-metallic material having a thickness in the experimentally determined range leads to achieving the technical effect, which is expressed in the possibility of the creation of highly flexible metal label with clear embossing or relief stamping, which holds its shape well on the products and has the ability to be applied without any jam or tear from the rolls at highspeed automatic lines due to its high technological strength.
Automatic application of the self-adhesive label from a roll of labels is due to its ability to come off the carrier substrate when it is bent at an acute angle over the edge of the plate located across the motion direction of the tape with labels. In the place of the bend the label comes off the substrate due to its rigidity exceeding the force of adhesion to the substrate and continues to move in the same direction coming into the contact with a product to be labeled whereas the substrate tape already without the label reels into a roll. The claimed label having proposed thickness of its layers has the required rigidity and strength and can be applied to products using above technology without jams or tears.
