- Rivet 107 is a fourth pivot pin which extends through an aperture 138 in the bottom cover 104, and through an aperture 140 in a tool spring 142 (which is biased against first pivot pin 34, and like the other tool springs holds the respective tools in their open or closed positions and prevents "play” in the respective tools), through an aperture 144 in another tool spring 146 (which is also biased against first pivot pin 34), through an aperture 148 in spacer spring 120 and through an aperture 150 in top cover 102 where it is upset to fix fourth pivot pin 107 in place.
- a tool spring 142 which is biased against first pivot pin 34, and like the other tool springs holds the respective tools in their open or closed positions and prevents "play” in the respective tools
- Rivet 107 is a fourth pivot pin which extends through an aperture 138 in the bottom cover 104, and through an aperture 140 in a tool spring 142 (which is biased against first pivot pin 34, and like the other tool springs holds the respective tools in their open or closed positions and prevents "play” in the respective tools)
- Rivet 108 is a fifth pivot pin which similarly extends through an aperture 154 in bottom cover 104, an aperture 156 in a third tool spring 158 (also biased against first pivot pin 34), through an aperture 160 in a fourth tool spring 162, through an aperture 164 in spacer spring 120 and through an aperture 166 in top cover 102 where it, too, is upset to fix it in place.
- Tool spring 162 is biased against first pivot pin 34 as are the other tool springs 142, 146 and 158.
- Bottle opener 16 forms the bottom wall of swivel tool assembly 10 and can easily be pivoted into use with a person's thumb by pivoting bottle opener 180° so that its opening 41 is easily acceptable and the balance of swivel tool assembly 10 forms an easy-to-use handle.
- Each of the respective tools, knife blade 54, Phillips head screwdriver 56, nail cleaner 58 and flat head screwdriver 60 can easily be pivoted into use by about 180° from their closed position.
- the balance of swivel tool assembly 10 is thick enough to form an easily graspable handle for operating each of the respective collective tools 12.
- Tool springs 142, 146, 158 and 162 provide the necessary biasing force for the respective tools.
- the flat surfaces of top cover 102 and bottom cover 104 facilitate the sliding of the respective bottle opener 16 and the respective tools of collective tools 12 between their open and closed positions.
- the fact that the respective pivot pins 34, 48, 52, 136 and 152 enable a lower overall thickness of the unit renders swivel tool assembly 10 very compact and easy to use. In a swivel tool assembly presently on the market, the unit has a total length of 2 5/8 inches, the width at its widest portion being 1 1 ⁇ 4 inch with a maximum height of 1 ⁇ 2 inch. It is thus easily held in a person's pocket or handbag.
