Abstract
The invention relates to a battery management system (21) which comprises; a control device (15) and one or more cell monitoring units (31) for monitoring several battery cells (14) of at least one battery module of a battery, said cell monitoring units (31) respectively comprising a mircocontroller (33) which is connected to the control device (15) by a first communication link (19), and a measurement electronic system for detecting one or more measurement variables from the battery cells (14). Also, said measurement electronic system of each cell monitoring unit (31) is at least partially redundant such that in the cell monitoring unit (31) a measurement variable, in particular an electric voltage, can be detected many times by means of several measuring units (32, 34, 42,43) and each cell monitoring unit (31) comprises current detection means. The microcontroller (33) is designed to calculate a charge state. The invention also relates to a method for monitoring a battery. The invention further relates to a battery comprising a battery management system and a motor vehicle comprising a battery management system.
