  • the plug has a bottom wall 40 which extends between the side wall so as to define a circular corner formation 41 between the side wall and the bottom wall.
  • the corner formation 41 defines a sharp edge. More specifically, the bottom wall has a conical configuration conforming to the conical configuration of the drip-collection formation 23 of the nozzle.

  • the bottom wall 40 is relatively thicker than the side wall 37, with the bottom wall being rigid thereby providing the corner formation 41 with a rigid construction.
  • the diameter of the corner formation 41 is such that it frictionally engages the internal sealing surface of the outer body of the nozzle.
  • the side wall 37 extends between the nozzle closure formation 32 and the bottom wall 40.
  • the side wall has a conical configuration and tapers from an operative upper end thereof adjacent the nozzle closure formation 32 towards the bottom wall 40.
  • the side wall is resiliently flexible. More specifically, an upper region of the outer sealing surface 39 of the plug has a slightly larger diameter than the diameter of the internal sealing surface 33 of the nozzle.
  • the upper region of the side wall of the plug engages the internal sealing surface of the nozzle, causing the side wall of the plug to be resiliently deflected inwardly thereby stressing the side wall and increasing pressure forces exerted by the side wall on the internal sealing surface of the nozzle, along a first circular upper contact region at which the plug contacts the outer body of the nozzle and a second circular lower contact region at which the corner formation 41 contacts the outer body of the nozzle.
  • the increased pressure forces exerted by the plug on the nozzle at the upper and lower contact regions enhances the air-tight seal between the side wall of the plug and the outer body of the nozzle, similar to the sealing effect provided by the piston rings in an internal combustion engine.
  • a user tilts the bottle 12, as shown in Figure 5 of the drawings, so as to dispense a stream of liquid from the bottle 12. More particularly, in use, the user may also squeeze the bottle 12 so as to force the olive oil 6 contained within the container body 13 of the bottle 12 through the dispensing orifice 24 of the nozzle 14, under pressure.
  • the conical taper of the drip collection formation 23 provides for the flow of excess olive oil, which collects on the drip collection formation 23, towards the dispensing orifice 24.
  • excess olive oil will flow, under the influence of gravitational forces, through the dispensing orifice 24 and back into the container body 13 when the bottle 12 is in its upright orientation.
  • undesirable oxidation of excess olive oil is thereby prevented.
  • oxidation of excess olive oil which is known to collect, in use, on and around the dispensing means of other dispensing containers known to the applicant, is undesirable, as oxidation results in the taste of the olive oil becoming spoiled.
  • the applicant also envisages that the user may control the rate at which the olive oil 6 is dispensed from the bottle 12 by varying the intensity of the squeezing force applied to the bottle 12. Furthermore, the applicant also envisages that the stream of liquid dispensed from the bottle 12 is directed and controlled by the user by manipulating the bottle 12, so as to dispense desired quantities of olive oil delivered to desired locations. As such, the applicant believes that the dispensing container 10 thus enables a user to simultaneously control both the quantity and the direction of delivery of olive oil 6 dispensed through the dispensing orifice 24 of the nozzle 14, in use. As such, the applicant envisages that wastage of olive oil 6 can be reduced by ensuring that the olive oil 6 is delivered in a desired quantity and to desired locations.
  • the applicant furthermore envisages that the tight interference fit of the nozzle 14 within the neck 15 of the bottle 12, will particularly require an insertion force of 300 N which is applied to the nozzle 14, in order to force fit the nozzle 14 into the neck 15 of the bottle 12.
  • the applicant envisages that the nozzle 14 will thus be tightly held in the neck 15 of the bottle 12, so as to render the nozzle 14 irremovable from the neck 15 of the bottle 12 without causing damage to the nozzle 14.
  • the material strength of the nozzle 14 and the tight interference fit thus ensures that the user may not remove the nozzle 14 (without damage) from the neck 15 of the bottle 12 in order to refill the container body 13 of the bottle after the olive oil in the container body 13 of the bottle 12 has been consumed, in use.
  • the nozzle seal 30 provides an air-tight seal with the nozzle when fitted into the nozzle, thereby sealing and closing the upper end of the nozzle and preventing the ingress of air into the bottle so as to reduce oxidation of the olive oil within the bottle.
  • the plug 38 of the nozzle is slidingly pushed into the outer body 22 of the nozzle, with the outer sealing surface 39 of the nozzle seal sliding over the internal sealing surface 33 of the outer body 22.
  • the olive oil lubricates the sliding friction fit between the plug 38 and the outer body 22 and also provides a sealing fluid which enhances the air-tight sliding seal between the plug 38 and the nozzle 14 thereby preventing the ingress of air into the bottle.
  • the peripheral edge region 35 of the nozzle closure formation 32 of the nozzle seal abuts the rim 31 of the outer body 22 of the nozzle and the bottom wall 40 of the plug 38 abuts the upper side 27 of the drip collection formation 23 further enhancing the sealing of the nozzle seal within the nozzle.
  • the corner formation 41 of the plug 38 scrapes any excess oil which has collected on the internal sealing surface 39 of the nozzle and pushes it downwards onto the drip collection formation.

Abstract

La présente invention a trait à un récipient de distribution (10) qui est configuré de manière à distribuer un liquide contenant de l'huile de consommation, lequel récipient de distribution inclut un flacon souple élastiquement déformable (12), une buse (14) et un joint d'étanchéité de buse (30). La buse (14) comprend un corps extérieur cylindrique (22) qui est ajusté de force dans l'ouverture de distribution du flacon ; et une formation de collecte de goutte-à-goutte en forme d'entonnoir (23) qui s'étend vers l'intérieur à partir du corps extérieur et qui est espacée par rapport à une extrémité supérieure ouverte du corps extérieur. Le corps extérieur définit une surface d'étanchéité intérieure cylindrique (33). Le joint d'étanchéité de buse (30) est ajusté de façon amovible sur la buse de manière à assurer l'étanchéité de la buse lorsqu'elle est fermée. Le joint d'étanchéité de buse est pourvu d'une formation de fermeture de buse (32) qui vient buter contre un bord (31) du corps extérieur de la buse à une extrémité supérieure de cette dernière, et d'un bouchon (38) qui est reçu de façon étanche à l'intérieur du corps extérieur. Le bouchon définit une surface d'étanchéité extérieure conique (39) qui met en prise par frottement la surface d'étanchéité (33) lorsqu'il est inséré dans la buse en vue de former un joint hermétique avec celle-ci.
