Abstract
A method for determining the opening behaviour of a fuel injector, having a coil drive, for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle is described. The method comprises (a) applying to the coil drive a test voltage profile (U), with the result that a magnet armature of the coil drive moves from a closed position into an open position, (b) measurement of the time profile of the current strength (I) of the current flowing through the coil drive, (c) identification of a characteristic feature in the measured time profile of the current strength (I), (d) determination of a time difference (OPP_2_T) between the start of the test time window and the occurrence of the characteristic feature, and (e) determination of the chronological opening behaviour of the fuel injector which occurs when a standard-series voltage profile is applied to the coil drive, as a function of the determined time difference (OPP_2_T). In addition, a device and a computer program which are configured for carrying out the method are described. Furthermore, a method for determining a correlation between a test opening behaviour and a standard-series opening behaviour of a fuel injector and a method for actuating a fuel injector are also described.
